That meant, that I had to hold anything I wanted during take-off, and landing, and the entertainment system had to be stowed during those times as well, so I couldn't even listen to music as the only controls were the touchscreen."

Entertainment service was horrible, old movies and typical Qatar Airline selection of Bollywood films (Expected when flying from Doha, but not New Zealand!) Cons: "Was not informed that checking in online is the only way to secure a seat. So, regardless of whether you book your tickets 3 months in advance or the day before, you're not actually guaranteed a seat unless you check in online. We weren't told this until we were at the airport and checked in there that we might not be able to get our pre-booked in advance flight because of over-booking from KLM. We then had to wait and see if there were seats available when boarding. Luckily, there were, but we were not sat together. Not the greatest start to our first holiday together as a couple. We were told that if there weren't seats available, they'd pay for us to get to another airport to fly out, which would have meant a huge delay on the only time off we'd get together this year and have to rearrange our pre-booked and pre-paid living arrangements for the week. All because there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the need to check in online before hand. You'd think if someone checked in at the airport, that would be more of a guarantee that they'd be flying with you that day, but apparently not. Definitely not impressed or happy with this part of the KLM experience. This is the only company that we've had this problem with, they should make it clearer that it is essential to check in online."

I had to wait for a small plane coming from Edinburgh then wait for it to be emptied of passengers and cleaned. This meant we were over 2 hours late into Istanbul. No explanation or apology. I then missed my next flight in Istanbul and had to purchase another ticket. I cannot believe that air passengers are treated in this way!!! I will follow this up with KLM when I go home from my holiday."

Cons: "HOT. The plane was 90% of the time. It would tease you just long enough to start to fall asleep, then bam! You wake up in a sweat. It was 9.5 of 10 hours of a low boil sweat. The most uncomfortable flight I've ever been on. Apparently a known issue, including the condensation leaks on people sitting next to the window. (Guessing that's why the A/C was left off.) Also one of the bathrooms was quickly out of service. Another would auto flush if you tried to sit down. And another the green light was on whether occupied/locked or not. So 3 of 4 in Economy had at least some kind of malfunction. The power tinting windows never responded to the buttons - assumed they were on master override. Finally, the seats were pretty compact. I would describe World Traveler on BA (aka Economy) more like the new compact Basic Economy offered on other carriers. Seats were very small and leg room consumed by some kind of service boxes. I'm hoping to all things holy that our return flight is actually an American Air flight instead of BA direct. Really afraid of another 10+ hours of torture."

Cons: "Flight was late and announcements were not understandable over the PA. While I understand that seats are made for the "average passenger" and at 5'2" I am on the very low end of that, seat was very uncomfortable with a metal bar higher than the seat cushion poking forward where the cushion met the seatback. The temperature was extremely variable and when my seat mates who did not speak English very well tried to flag a flight attendant down to get an extra blanket, the flight attendants actively ignored them, so I hit my assistance button and my light went on, then after some time it went off again without our being helped so I hit it again about 10 minutes later and my light went on again but was again ignored. Then the attendants started selling things from the flight magazine and looked the other way as they went by my hopeful beacon. When they finally did get to me, I got a curt "I'll see if there is anything I can do" and she went off, returning 5 minutes later with one blanket when there were two people. Later on I saw her give blankets to others, and I found that strange."

One man at security was even rude to me, telling me not to just stand there. ( I had been told to stand there whilst they went and tried to remedy for the umpteenth time). When I showed him my disabled badge and said I would personally prefer NOT to be left standing for hours, he said 'so?'. It was a nightmare. It took hours and still wasn't sorted and in the end the immigration officers had to be called to the boarding area to allow us on the flight with non functioning boarding cards. It wasn't even our fault. REally upset about it."
