FAQs - booking Tenerife flights

  • Which Tenerife airport is the most recommended for travelling from London?

Tenerife has two airports: Tenerife-Norte (TFN) and Tenerife-Sur (TFS). As the names suggest, the former is located at the northern end of the island in Santa Cruz and the latter at the southern end, in Granadilla de Abona. This means that the airport you should fly to will partly depend on which is closer to your final destination. However, it takes less than an hour to drive between the two cities, so if you find a better deal or more convenient flight further away, you might still prefer to choose it.

  • Will my child be required to use a booster seat in Tenerife from the airport?

Children in Tenerife are required to sit in the back seat and use a booster seat if they are under the age of 12. It is not uncommon for taxis at Tenerife Airport to have booster seats on hand. However, they will be subject to availability, so if you want to avoid bringing your own booster seat, it's a good idea to book your taxi ahead of time. Car hire companies at the airport can also usually provide booster seats, but some travellers prefer to bring their own anyway. Booster seats can be added to checked luggage for free by most airlines flying from London to Tenerife.

  • Which airports do the most low-cost airlines depart from?

If you're looking to stick to a budget on your trip from London to Tenerife, you'll probably be departing from Stansted (STN) or Luton Airport (LTN) and arriving at Tenerife-Sur. These routes are operated by Ryanair, who can offer budget-friendly, direct flights between London and Tenerife. If you would prefer to fly into Tenerife-Norte, the best departure airport for low-cost airlines will be Gatwick Airport (LGW). Vueling and Ryanair partner to operate less expensive flights with a single stopover.

  • Do I need a visa to visit Tenerife from London?

Tenerife is part of Spain, which is in the Schengen area. This means travellers with a UK passport can stay for up to 90 days in a 180-day period without a visa. It covers several types of travel including tourism, certain work purposes and short-term study. This 90-day limit includes any other Schengen countries you might visit during your travels. When you arrive make sure you also have proof of your accommodation and funds.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from London to Tenerife?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from London to Tenerife.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from London to Tenerife?

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from London to Tenerife?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly from London to Tenerife with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from London to Tenerife?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying from London to Tenerife up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Top tips for finding a cheap flight from London to Tenerife

  • The majority of flights from London to Tenerife land at Tenerife-Sur (TFS). It is the largest, busiest airport on the island, serving all major cities including the capital Santa Cruz.
  • Tenerife-Norte (TFN) is located in Santa Cruz but there are fewer flights arriving here and they usually involve at least one stopover. Whichever arrival airport you choose, all of London's major airports have flights available.
  • Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN), Luton (LTN), and London City (LCY) all operate flights to Tenerife. London City flights tend to be the most expensive, but the convenient location and fast check-in times in London are a big plus for some travellers.
  • There are direct regular flights from London to Tenerife departing from all major London airports except London City. When flights do have a stopover, it is usually in Madrid (MAD) or Barcelona (BCN).
  • If you're flying Business Class and want to make use of airport lounges, you might prefer to fly with British Airways. They have lounges available at Heathrow and Gatwick.

Waiting for 2 people to come through security that delayed the flight. Everyone else made it on time, should have left without them. Flight was cold.

The staff are just so friendly travelling alone was a bit scary but they made me feel comfortable and nothing was to much bother I loved how one of the girls was talking to the old ladies she really took time thank you jet2 shame I can’t get home with u guys 🥲

Crew was nice. Plane was crowded, Seats wouldn’t lean back. No free treats or drinks (not even water).

The flight was over an hour late taking off. Air traffic control on the outward flight caused the delay. Horrendous passport queue at Malaga. Families with children must dread it. Another Brexit negative

On time flight. Reasonable comfortable but a bit cramped. Excellent jet 2 staff as usual.

This is my second flight with jet 2. Both been great - lovely helpful staff. Will fly with you again

Felt very cramped, seat quality poor and temp way too warm with little ventilation. Persistent ramming of duty free ‘bargains’ donut throats. Food & drink service glacially slow.

A good flight with friendly crew and check-in but disembarking was chaotic and badly managed

The food was nice but same pud and crackers as on the way there should be different

Flights were on time, boarding was straight forward. Very good attentive staf

Great flight just took some time to board even when lining up early for the flight, even taking off took longer then expected.

The baggage wasnt uploaded to the plane, lost baggage handling is very poor.

Flight was delayed by 1 hour 45 minutes. Aircraft was cramped, dirty and uncomfortable. Boarding staff more interested in charging you for oversize baggage than getting you on board. Overall not a pleasant experience.

A delay of almost 3 hours. It was evident that the staff wanted us to board urgently, to the point of rudeness, to avoid paying compensation

It's not the staff's fault. The cabin crew do their best but the setup in Stansted Airport by Ryanair is poor. The herding of people like cattle is unacceptable before boarding and is something that's in every airport but only in Stansted have I seen the queueing of passengers outside the plane on the tarmac and the crew only turning up with maybe 5 minutes to depart. This is a resource issue . Yes prices are good but seemingly comes with a price of poor treatment of customers. I'll pay more next time

On time arrival but the aircraft had seen better days and needed a deep clean.

It was appalling, full of young people who were drunk and disobeying instructions to sit down. Crew did nothing to enforce. There was a Ryanair pilot sitting in the aisle opposite me who talked through out the safety briefing so loudly I couldn’t hear. Whole thing felt unsafe

Delayed for 2 hours lack of communication no refreshments as promised and the drinks on board were not as ordered and refused to refund

Straight forward checking as long as you have completed every single detail online, prior to checking day. Efficient boarding, seating is ok for a two hour flight. Fulfilledour travel requirements from Manchester to Marseille.

Cabin crew couldn’t be less interested. Cabin manager was the most arrogant and the rudest I’ve encountered in many years.

Boarding could be better. To get through your gate but to be stood in a corridor for 20 minutes is not great.

The true is that travel from London to Faro on 11/12/2025 by BA was cancelled, so I did not go to Faro, so i did not board easy flight. The mediocre qualification to you was because even when i bought an insurance, i could not change date neither obtain reimbursement. It could be ideal if you do something in order for me not to lose the purchase Thank you

Would not advise EasyJet for a 5 hour flight…small plane and hence a lot of turbulence. No inflight entertainment so struggle to pass time in cramped seats. We also fell victim to extra charge for our cabin bags, although bag dimensions were ok, but the handle was rigid and slightly fell outside their testing cage!!….never again will we fly with this airline and be party to their scams for making money!

The food and so are to expensive and old . Crew whas not very friendly . Apparently some other passenger can just Push through the waiting people to board while almost punching me and a father with a child down the stairs. Its always something with easy jet . The seats of row 26 where lose . And for a guy of my size there is absolutely no leg room at all .

Nice to fly out of Orly smaller easier to navigate airport. Being able to receive boarding pass well in advance of trip was comforting to know all travel was in order.

Liked. The check-in was pretty quick as they had 5 desks working.

Generally a good experience except for boarding in Naples on the flight back to London. We were all standing around for at least 20 minutes maybe longer as there was no seating.

Seats, WC,sizes for today's generation adults, and if technical problems arise a complimentary coffee, water nice for waiting one hours, the rest is perfect (pilot and cabin crew)

Boarding was smooth and quick. Flight departed on time. Equally evacuation upon landing was from both the front door and the back doors. Bags were on the conveyor belts before I got there. Excellent service.

The terminals are far away, be prepared to walk. Also, You climb stairs to the plane since there are no aero bridges. Boarding was haphazard not in multiple groups, so stand in line early. Hard to find place to stow cabin baggage if you are behind in the line. You can purchase food on the plane. There are vegetarian options.

It’s the old style plane with the old Ying Yang seats doesn’t compare to other airlines with newer planes.

I was unable to board this flight because of visa changes that I was not alerted about and I’ve been unable to contact Kayak to obtain a refund / credit anything.

My touch screen at my seat wasn't working, the films BA advertised on the website for this flight were not available, and the plane was a little dated, food was good and the staff were good, just let down by the aircraft facilities.

Did not like the seating configuration at all with 2+3+2 in business class. Lacking total privacy and comfort

Check-in experience, for business call please provide a premium experience

Lost my luggage, ran out of food choices in business class, ground crew was completely unapologetic.

Excellent. The crew and flight were great. Checking in was easy and everyone was very helpful.

Late. And service was very slow - passengers sat for well over an hour with dirty trays etc surrounding them

Entertainment devices on A380 need to be fixed, the seats might do with updates.

I like everything about British Airways. Excellence. Perfect. Exquisite service.

Missed slot to leave so we were on the plane for an extra hour. The seats were really uncomfortable and the food was poor. The experience makes me think twice about flying as I suspect they are all similar.

Fine, charter flights. Plane full, and staff nice and friendly. No option for free food or drink. Entertainment through paid app.

The 737-8 is too small for the length of flight especially if there are any delays

The flight was delayed over 2 hours, we should off left the plane2 late passengers as it’s not fair on everyone who’s followed the rules.

Dreamliner. Yes great if maintained. I didn't see anyones screen work consistently during either of our flights. Worse was their ability to not only dump you out of premium but separate couples and seat someone's carer at the opposite end of the aircraft. This poor gentleman had no hand so his partner who assists him, being seated at the other end of the aircraft, well that really showed us all what Tui think :( It was fairly dire all in all, they advertise all the perks of the dreamliner only in reality you don't have the features and they change the windows and colours to suit their constant sales pitches. Ironically they were so low on stock for the return flight that all their sales pitches were a waste of time! Their contract only favours them and 'operational changes' well they cover every excuse and Tui use it. Surprisingly we haven't reinstalled the Tui app or booked with them since. It's a shame as I rated them highly during the pandemic.

One flight attendant not wearing a mask over nose, 50% of passengers not either, and no effort to correct. Boarding was very late with no information - lots of standing around waiting.
