I stayed at Marriott Airport the night before departure. I walked over to airport to check out the process for my ticket type which was seating assignment at the gate. Agent clued me in that the earlier I checked in the next morning, the better. And sure enough, I was first in line to check in and received a great seat assignment as if I'd paid full dollar!
