FAQs - booking Kabul flights

  • Can I fly direct from London to Kabul?

Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from London to Kabul Airport (KBL), but there are plenty of flights with one or two stops. Turkish Airlines offers flights from London to Kabul with a stopover in Istanbul Airport (IST) with a duration of around 10h 30min. Emirates offers flights that stop in Dubai International Airport (DXB) with a duration of approximately 13h. If you're looking to cut costs, you could also look at flights with two stops, which are typically cheaper; you could fly from London to Kabul with stops in Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) and Sharjah (SHJ).

  • How easy is it to exchange currency?

There's a bank and a currency exchange shop at Kabul Airport, so you'll be able to change currency as soon as you land. There are also ATMs at the airport and across Kabul, but these can be difficult to use with foreign bank cards, so you should make sure you bring enough cash to cover your expenses while you're there. Most major currencies will be accepted at exchange shops in Kabul, but USD will always be accepted. Hotels or accommodation providers can also usually exchange money for you.

  • Are there any hotels at Kabul Airport?

Kabul Airport doesn't have any hotels on-site, but it has plenty of airport hotels nearby that offer airport shuttles. For example, Heetal Airport Hotel is three minutes from the airport, Kabul Star Hotel is nine minutes away, and Kabul Serena Hotel is 12min away. All of these hotels offer airport shuttles, which you should book in advance.

If there are only two airlines involved, the EcoFly ticket usually allows one carry-on bag of 8 kg. Standard Economy includes carry-on and checked luggage. If there are three airlines, the advertised price doesn't include luggage. You can add extra luggage when booking online.

  • What's a good way to get to Kabul from the airport?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Kabul with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight to Kabul?

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Kabul

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Kabul flight deals.
  • It's better for foreigners to use taxis or transfer services that are specifically designed for the international community. They're more likely to speak English, and you can arrange the cost and meeting place before you even land in Kabul, which protects you from being charged extra. A one-way transfer will be around ؋1,500 (about £15) from the airport into the city centre.
  • You can access Wi-Fi in Kabul Airport (KBL) by buying recharge cards at several shops or vending machines across the airport. Alternatively, you could buy a SIM card or USB key from one of the 4G operator shops at the airport. These will give you cheap internet access which you can top-up your access to for the duration of your stay in Afghanistan.
  • If you require any assistance in Kabul Airport, let your airline know up to 48h before you travel so they can make sure everything is prepared. Kabul Airport has adapted parking spaces, elevators, and dedicated assistance staff who will be ready for your arrival.
  • Kabul Airport has a broad selection of duty-free stores, where you can pick up souvenir products, Afghan specialities, pastries, wine, perfume, toys, and more.
  • There are bars and restaurants both airside and landside in both of Kabul Airport's terminals, and something is always open to cater for passengers who are flying late (so you'll be able to grab something to eat regardless of the time you fly).
  • Whether you're flying from London, Manchester, Edinburgh or anywhere else in the UK, flights to Kabul are typically operated by more than one airline and have self-transfer stopovers en route. Ensure you have enough time on a stopover to account for potential delays. Missing a connection on a self-transfer flight leaves you responsible for additional costs.
  • If you're planning a trip from London, London Gatwick Airport (LGW) offers some of the best single-stopover flights to Kabul from the city. Flights from London Heathrow (LHR) tend to be less affordable, while flights from London Luton (LTN), Stansted (STN) or London City (LCY) tend to have more than one stopover.

Warm staff, very responsive service. Well furnished cabin and comfortable seat and amenities. Excellent onboard wifi connection and very large comfortable restrooms.

The journey was nice, all the crews were very good and services are excellent

Great flight - Clubhouse met our needs, and the staff provided good service. Boarding felt a little chaotic, but given the size of the aircraft, it's always going to be challenging. Whilst the crew were friendly, the number of passengers meant that we received our breakfast items, but had finished breakfast before we were served a drink. Lunch was much better organised, and throughout the flight, the crew were attentive. Found the seats and ICE to be excellent. Disembarkation was fine, and everything possible to expedite the process was being done.

Bathrooms were amazing and first class seat was very comfortable. Food was edible but not up to the standards of other first class meals on other airlines. But Caviar was amazing! So much caviar. Dom Perignon 2015 was room temperature. It would have been amazing if it was chilled down a bit more. Slippers were amazing and amenity kit requested was beautiful. Requested Pajamas never came so can’t tell you how nice they were. Loved the design of the seat and personal storage. Suite was much smaller than other airline’s first class and tv screen was tiny and remote difficult to use. I probably wouldn’t pay for this flight again.

We boarded but due to a technical issue we spent 4.5hrs on the ground waiting for the issue to be resolved

Wonderful Premium Economy experience. Felt as good as Business Class for food and entertainment. Comfortable sleeping too

No kids provided. Instead we were told to have contacted the airline that we have kids and require kids meals. We were not the only ones who inquired about kids meals. It’s odd. Emirates and other airlines give kids meals as standard and before the adult food comes out. The rice in our meals was gluggy and under cooked. The chicken was also raw. Sadly not the best experience with Finn Air. The hostesses tried to compensate with the snacks and drinks but missed the mark by a long way. Especially when paying Emirates/Qantas prices

We loved flying with Emirates in business class, the staff were fabulous, going above & beyond

Emirates First Class is always a treat with Caviar and service is always personalised.

Very pleasant. The crews are very nice.Food were excellent.

The staff at IST airport could have been more helpful. Too much wasted time and the plane from IST to KHI was just horrible. The plane was not clean and smelled bad!

Staff friendly. Business class but issue with flat bed. Incoming Turkish flight delayed. Made connection due to fast buggy but luggage did not make it. Confusion at Delhi airport

The prices and many to choose from: Very unfriendly unprofessional and difficult staff and lacked English skills. Had the pleasure to go to Istanbul in 2022 but went on Jordan Airlines and found Turkey a wonderful place with kind people. The experience as a first time flyer on Turkish Airlines was so disappointing that received not to go into Turkey was so upset about this cruel treatment

With a 4 hour delay its was a very basic flight which was just bearable. We were offered food vouchers for the delay and then they didnt work, so that was annoying. Also poor communication about the delay which got pushed out 3 times.

Very good overall.... apart from the cost of extra check ed in luggage where they charge £17 per kg, and no option to just buy an extra bag allowance (at least on the route I took)

The best food I’ve ever been served on an airplane. The security at the gate was frustrating as was the heavy editing of the films and television shows offered.

Food wasn’t nice and doesn’t have halal option

Boarding was much delayed, and there was no explanation ( obviously they were waiting for something or someone. ) Passengers were all crowded at the gate with anxiety. On the plane, the crew worked very hard on checking for safety and serving delicious food. They were polite and courteous.

The trip had a 19 hour layover, and no hotel accommodation was provided. This a shame for an airline to do to their customers. I will not only stop flying with Turkish Airlines, I will make sure anyone I know avoid Turkish Airlines because of how lousy their layover system is.

Vegan food tasted good. Restroom could be kept cleaner. Seat tray table was a bit tilted so food tray kept sliding down a bit. Flight crew can be a little more friendly, caring and approachable. Their faces lacked smiles and tone was stern.

Online check-in was unavailable for my flight. So I waited 40 min in the queue at the check-in counter. Then, unlike any other airline in the world (and I am a very frequent international flyer) Pegasus was adamant that my CPAP was just another carry on and that I had to pay extra for it. Then, after I had paid in advance for a seat, they insisted I could not sit in an exit row because I was over 60 years old (I'm clearly in good shape and buy exit row seats more or less weekly). We pushed back harder and harder and insisted on talking to the station chief, who spoke with the counter staff by phone (not to me) and eventually relented. Experience on boarf was ok-- for a budget airline.

You adjourned my flight by 1h 30 mns and only updated me 1h30 mns before the new scheduled flight. I submitted an email to Kayak asking for a refund. It was the most stressful experience I've had.

Not because when i try to do check in there is only in turkish language i can not select other language

Don't fly Pegasus, terrible service at the airport and boarding was really bad. Both flights I took with them were significantly late. This flight had us all changing the gate at the last moment and it was chaos.withour explanation or apology. The planes have seats that don't recline and seats are really hard. The crew on board was good both flights, but that is the only positive thing I can say about this airline. It's not worth it and I won't be flying them again.

The airport staff were some of the worst I've ever flown, and I fly at least 50x every year. From the staff at the gate, to the check in staff, to the ticketing sales staff. My experience in Instanbul was so bad Ill.never fly Pegasus again. They were incredibly rude, dismissive and not helpful whatsoever. This is the worst of the worst if you want to fly a budget airline I'd go elsewhere. The airplane seats are really uncomfortable and don't recline at all, you get charged for every single thing so in the end you will pay more flying with them. The crew on the plane were the only kind people we encountered with Pegasus.

Pegasus Airlines which is the most efficient and cost worth low cost airline all over the Europe

Flight from London was delayed and we had to hurry up to catch the connecting flight to Riyadh

The crew were outstandingly kind and cheerful. We carried our cat and they offered help.

Late departure. No announcements. Boarding was a disaster. Some kind of technical issue scanning boarding passes.

Moderate carrier , one of the flight attendant crashed my leg with the food table and never bothered to apologia but give you a lecture about how to sit in your seat.

If the flight was full I would have been more uncomfortable as the space was small. The seat in front of me was very close, I wear transition lenses and it was too close for a comfortable viewing experience. The foot room was not the best either. The row was empty so I had shoulder width space. The foot space in my opinion could be better, I am just 6ft tall, medium built and found the space mediocre. The AC on the flight could have been cooler. We were delaed on the tarmac and the air con was warm. Even in the air, it could have been cooler. Apart from that excellent service crew, we were delayed on the tarmac and water was offered to us which was of good temperature. The snacks offered were acceptable. Thanks for a safe and smooth journey.

Boarding from T3 is a nightmare for the transfer to the aircraft.

BEST air crew in the industry and service delivery takes it to the next level from great to AMAZING!!!

No TVs are working, in my local busses also not work sometimes. Is the both are same,,

The timing for this flight is really odd.. at 4.45AM If it was 1AM or 8AM it would be great. I guess its probably for European connecting flights with Emirates? Anyway, for a budget airline, the business class product in FlyDubai is quite decent. You even get Champagne, although 4AM is an off time to have it. The Throne seat for me while is great for privacy, sleeping isn't great for the foot extension. This flight is great for me due to its direct nature but if Emirates did it, I would choose that.

The quality is worse and worse , this business ticket pricing is overpriced !!!!

The Plane was very small.. domestic route will perfect not international

If I have a choice I would not use this airline. They moved by booking to Smart Wings, an airline they code share with. Changing terminals in buses and dealing with some of the staff associated with it is not the best experience. Having stated that I must share that the crew of Smart Wings airlines was polite.

Consider serving food to all passengers regardless of food reservation status during booking.

Very efficient boarding. Plane lready for take ooff10 minutes before time.

Great crew. Seats do not recline :( but it is budget so i should have known. Otherwise comfy leather chair. Slight slim chair but again budget so expected. No entertainment do makes journey boring. Recommend packing plenty of snacks and games or download plenty of films and music in your device. Staff excellent. Clean flight. On time.

Both of my flights had issues with their time slot with air traffic control, so they left over an hour late and the flight back to London was delayed by over an hour. Please provide more clarity about baggage requirements on booking sites, your website and within the app. I had to pay for extra bags at the airport when departing London, because they didn’t specify that your carry on bag can only be a backpack and not a trolley, my trolley bag fit the size requirements of the backpack but still I was made to pay

The crew at Check-in was very helpful. It’s was appreciate.

It’s a budget airline. You get what you pay for. They insisted on getting us out of the gate and into our slot on time. They got us to the destination safely. Aircraft was clean and well maintained. What more could we want

Half an hour delay. Squeezed into a small Departure Lounge with very few seats. Noisy flight with screaming unruly kids. Loud IPads and Phones. Heaven!

Were delayed in the airport for 5 hours with no explanation. Flight kept getting delayed by an hour at a time and wizz air staff were no where to be found

The flight was delayed 5 hours and I'm and invalid,I wan a refund for this

The cabin crew on that flight were super fantastic and super helpful. They were so polite and considerate that i felt i travelled with a 5star airline.

Delayed delayed delayed - always with Wizzair. Staff were friendly and well mannered but clearly the company is unorganized and the aircrafts are outdated.
