While there were other options available, easyJet slightly undercut the competition to sell a ticket for a seat which they never indicated was standby. Since my trip was only for the day, taking the next flight half a day later wasn't a great option. I attempted to check in but was presented with an unhelpful error and then told me the situation at the airport checkin. Inside Luton terminal, there is no easyJet representative to speak with past the security checkpoint until you arrive at the front of the line for your flight boarding. The suspense and lack of service was unnerving. Some passengers might appreciate a small compensation for the inconvenience of taking the next flight. If you absolutely need to be somewhere, don't buy a last minute ticket on easyJet. They don't tell you if you're buying a real ticket or just a standby spot."

A plane arrived, disembarked, there was more time, and people were then let on from the front and back of the plane, with no direction which created chaos in the boarding process. They were rude at the boarding gate and non-apologetic. Did not sympathize with me, although they were nice to other white passengers, I felt I was treated differently because of my race, specially after the Paris attack all brown skinned men were viewed as a potential threat I suppose and did not have a good experience in the flight as all passengers were looking at me funny! Point to be noted: On my way to Budapest from London I was carrying the same hand bag and I was not asked to pay extra!! Inconsistent service!"

I wasn't the only one at least 20 people queuing on the return with the same issue. Additionally on the delay out they advised food could be brought at the rear of the plane then inflight ran out so some people ate twice while by the time I got to my hotel they had stopped serving food and I had not eaten in the airport sorting out the boarding passes."

For example, for unknown reasons, we were not allowed to have our boarding passes available electronically. Then, at the airport, they charged us 60 Euros each to print them! We had to pay to check our "carry-on" size bags because what they allow to be carried on is so much smaller than all of the other airlines. Another big expense! The flight was delayed. Then they had us stand in a long boarding line for an extended period. With this airline you get to actually walk out onto the tarmac to board-just like in the old days! The plane is super cramped and anything to drink, at all, is for sale. Then they stand up front hawking stuff-constantly. Never again."
Cons: "Ryanair goal is for you to do something wrong so they can charge you. They make you wait in line at front check in so you can do a passport check if you are from the US. Other discount EU airlines like EasyJet just do it at the gate. They schedule their flights so they are all leaving at the same time so security turns into a zoo (but afterward there is no one at security and then again turns into zoo for next Ryan Air flight bundle). Even when you get to the airport over 2 hours ahead of time and havevno checked bags they charge you 100 pounds ($145) each person if you miss your flight. Plus they will not book you on the next flight at the customer service gates. They make you leave security to book next flight so they have a change to do it all over again. There is no leg room where just few Easy Jet and there was. I have only used two EU discount airlines but I have used many discount count airlines in the United States, Southeast Asia and Central America and I can easily say Ryanair was the worst airlines I have used."
Cons: "Online check in is a joke, you still have to stand in a looong line to have your bag checked in. I prepaid a 15kg checked bag online. It turned out to be 23kg, they wouldn't void the prepayment and let me pay for a 20kg suitcase and then pay excess baggage for 3kgs, it would have been £60. Instead they made me pay 8kgs excess baggage at £10/kg for a total of £80 +£25 I had prepaid=£105, my ticket was £44.00 if this is not a rip off, don't know what is! They don't announce gates until 15minutes prior to closing the gate, it takes 10-12 minutes to get to the gate. Flight attendants have no common sense either: a man in a wheelchair boarded last, they made him find his seat in the back when there were empty seats in the front. Seats don't recline either. Clearly they conduct business in a malicious way. Who wants to do business with them?"

Cons: "Had heard so many things about RyanAir from my European friends, that I had to give it a try. First, the line situation at the airport was horrible and not at all the sort of thing a business traveller would tolerate. The craziest of the multiple line system is that you stand in line to weigh your luggage and if it weighs too much, there's NO OPTION for you to pay for extra baggage without going to the end of a very long customer service line. I was travelling on holiday and so had no ability to print my boarding passes the night before. So they charged 15lb each for printed boarding passes (a third line) that were printed in such poor quality that they didn't work in the scan machines, sending us to the end of another line! Almost missed our flight, or so we thought, until we realized after sprinting through the airport that their boarding process would take a hour (no exaggeration) leading to a very delayed departure. We were stuck in a jetway platform with no updates for 40 minutes. All in all, I am surprised this airline survives in this competitive age. Their slogan of "low fare, made simple" must be someones idea of irony."
Cons: "I was told I received 12 emails indicating that I needed to check in from seven days until the flight... However, I never received them and looked in my junk mail folder as well. They charged £45 for both of us. I also called the company the day that I booked and was told I didn't have to pay for a checked bag. But upon arrival, we got hit with another £55 charge each. While I understand there are some fees oftentimes, but this is ridiculous and more than excessive. I will never use this company again and will tell everyone to avoid them."

Cons: "The experience getting checked in, bags checked, and boarding the plane - took us 3 hours total. We arrived early to get through security and stood in three different lines for over 2.5 hours just to get boarding passes. After standing in the lines - we were then instructed to use one of the kiosks. We tried finding staff to help but nobody was available - as both people were helping a group of students with the self baggage hold. Ultimately - after 2.5 hours - we were told to just 'check in on the website on our phone' and get back into the queue to check the bag. As someone who has been traveling non stop for two weeks - this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with an airline."

Think it would be a good idea if the airline didn’t just assume that because a child is 11 years old they are able to sit away from their parents. My son has additional needs and so although his chronological age is 12 years his developmental age is only 7/8 years so being sat away from his parents was very stressful for him. Maybe asking during booking if any of the party hav s additioonal needs would be a good idea."
Pros: "Staff were good - even the cabin crew member who was still training was friendly and professional. Landing was incredibly smooth. The pilot also dealt very well with the turbulence and was able to predict it so the seatbelt sign already came on before any trouble."
Cons: "Even by budget airline standards, Ryanair is mediocre at best. The chairs are uncomfortable for a 4 1/2 hour flight - manageable, maybe, for a shorter journey but not anywhere good enough for that length of time. Boarding took an unusually long time and even priority passengers were stood around waiting to get onboard a good 15 minutes or so after already having gotten into the jetway. Not to mention after landing, we were stood over an hour waiting for baggage because, for some reason, four different flights used the same carousel (and presumably only had one team getting baggage off all four planes) despite there being a second one free which I'm sure they could have easily used. Don't have four planes landing near concurrently if you don't have the facilities to deal with it. Ryanair is cheap, yes, but by the time you have to pay ridiculous amounts for things most other airlines consider normal (for starters, you can't even take a full size hand luggage bag on board without priority boarding), it adds up to being less "budget" than it would have been to fly with a higher end airline like British Airways and you'd have to be an idiot to choose Ryanair over a cheaper, higher quality, airline. Honestly, I have no idea how people choose Ryanair more than once in their lifetime."
