Horrible experience with Alitalia. They boarded us on a plane that had a wheel issue, and kept us on the ground for 2 hours before they decided to de-plane us. We then had to wait in a 5+ HOUR LINE to get rerouted (nope, they won't handle these issues online or over the phone, you have to wait in line). And THEN they wanted us to wait in a 2 hour line to re-drop off our bags. We got stuck overnight in Rome and were put in a horrible Hilton Garden Inn and barely made it in time to use our coupon for a "free meal" (aka, frozen meatballs and stale bread in a buffet that had been sitting out all night). On our flight back, the food was absolutely terrible, the movie selections were old and scarce, and the seats were uncomfortable. We called to complain as soon as we got home and still have not heard back from Alitalia. I will never fly with them again.

Of the multiple international airlines I recently flew with, I would have to say KLM was by far the best. Relaxing atmosphere, comfortable seating, great in-flight entertainment, although I have the go-go in-flight data/entertainment plan with t-mobile (highly recommended), the flight included a decent selection of movies, television programs, etc. The food far exceeded typical "airline quality," even for an international flight - and included a fabulous little snack box with locally sourced gourmet and specialty items such as chocolate from Belgium, fine cheeses from France, and crackers from England. Drinks = gratis, and crew was exceptionally attentive and went out of their way to make flight as pleasant as possible.

The very dirty plane was cleaned at Dar-es-salaam and became less dirty. The pilot kept us updated periodically through the flight. The flight attendants were very pleasant.

The plane was very dirty when we landed in Dar-es-salaam. The plane did get cleaned a little bit in Dar-es-salaam however I was still missing a pillow and blanket which I had to actively seek out. Seating was not very comfortable as there was a box attached to the leg of the seat in front of me, making it necessary to keep my feet at an uncomfortable angle through the long flight. I did not enjoy the food.

The crew inside the plane was polite and helpful. Airplane was confortable. Breakfast was ok, no entertainment which was good because all I wanted was to sleep.

Check in was very slow, even for the ones that were able to check in online. The crew in charge to check in was late. If they tell you to be three hours before your flight, they should be at their desks before that.

Decent flight. On time departing and arriving. Luggage arrived with us.

Audacious prices for checked luggage. If you pay online prior to check-in €25 per bag If you pay at check in it is €45 per bag. This is downright theft by all the airlines who engage in this very profitable but nefarious activity and really needs to be stopped. First bag should be free/ nominal charge or at least part of the ticket price. (It is like a restaurant charging for cutlery and plates so you can eat . Would that be acceptable??)

The airline lost my baggage for four days, had no explanation and no idea where it was. Despite being told they would follow up with me I had to call over and over each day as I was getting no info. Eventually, they came to deliver the bag but tried to give me someone else's bag. Apparently, they had given my bag to someone else! By the time I located my possessions this debacle had caused a number of other problems. Would never use this airline again.

I really like the spaciousness, the plug ins and general service

I have a dairy allergy but had no option to prepurchase a dairy free meal. It made for a very unenjoyable flight as I couldn't eat anything they had. What was worse was after I told them of my situation they said they understood and had a meal that would do but there was cheese, yogurt, milk chocolate, etc.

That I was forced to check my baggage. I never received a chain ticket for my luggage. The flight has a 32 hour layover and KLM lost my luggage and it was not found until a week after my arrival back home. I still have not received my bag at this time. It got me to where I needed to go. The entertainment was excellent and the food was decent. Although I wish someone came through and offered more water during the flight.

One of the bathrooms was out of order and they didn't put up a sign to explain that. People were waiting outside the door and I had to get their attention to tell them they had to instead go to the back of the plane. I pressed the button for an attendant and no one responded. I was waiting for 30 minutes before I flagged down someone and they weren't very helpful. The seats in coach are close together if anyone has their seat back while food is being served makes it hard to eat. Having the person in front of you reclined also make it hard to see the tv screen.
