Also, after I walked through the gate, several boarding flights merged confusingly in a single passageway with exits to multiple planes and many people got lost and ended up (temporarily!) on the wrong airplane, despite heroic attempts by the ground crew to direct passenger traffic. There must be a better method than having everyone follow colored lines to the planes - it wasn't working!"

You don't see this kind a attention to detail on any US flights or US airlines, so I noticed it. It was as if I was traveling back in the 70's or 80's when Airlines would compete for our dollars with their service. I mentioned to my friend that if I had a choice and Swiss Air was one of the choices, I'd choose Swiss Air over any other airline."

I called in advance of my flight to notify someone of my allergy - and they told me the only way I could ensure such a meal was by purchasing a meal that cost $30. I was not willing to pay such a hefty surcharge for food because I had already payed a bit extra than budgeted because my partner had recommended the excellent service of Swiss. I have traveled on several airlines for intercontinental flights between Boston and Europe - and have always had my allergy accommodated at no extra cost. Once on the flight - I was offered an orange and banana for dinner and a small yoghurt for breakfast. I will be flying Swiss again in December and I sincerely hope they will be better equipped to provide for my dietary requirements."

No apologies given, the flight that was originally scheduled for 8 pm left close to 11 pm. While boarding the only light is a purplish ambient lighting that made it impossible to read anything, including the safety material, until the inflight entertainment was loaded up (the lights are only controlled through software-actuated virtual buttons on the screen). The inflight entertainment system is hard to use, too, designed by idiots for use by geniuses. But the very worst thing was the stress caused by Virgin Atlantic in just about guaranteeing that we would miss this flight. On our outbound voyage in January, VA, for reasons nobody knows, booked an ADDITIONAL leg from JHB to CPT on BA at 12:30 pm, even though we were already ON the earlier 9:30 BA flight we'd booked and paid for. Then, when we didn't show up for this spurious flight (because we were already in the air) we didn't book (BA swears they have evidence that VA made this booking), our return flight CPT to JBG three months later was cancelled WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE. If I hadn't been interested in knowing, the day before the flight, if the return BA flight had a meal, I would have showed up at the CPT airport in April and discovered that I had no way to get to the VA flight in JHB! As it was I spent an entire day trying to get back on the flight I'd already paid for. I advise EVERYONE who uses VA to reconfirm flights over and over. There is still no explanation for this. I will never NEVER fly VA again. They are not to be trusted."

Avianca caused me to miss my flight in LAX, refused to help me reach my ultimate destination for which I paid them hundreds of dollars to do, nor did they offer to credit my losses for which they were responsible. Customer Service was as useless as the individuals in person that I dealt with. I never made it to my destination because I was forced to return home to San Francisco, unable to see my wife-to-be in Brasil. I will never fly with this airline again."

I am still even now unsure as to why the flight was canceled as no one bothered to inform us as to what the reason was. - On my new connecting flight from San Salvador to Bogotá there was only two meal options (both meat) which I do not eat and was told to just take the meat out of the meal as there was no other options. Would have been helpful to have known before the flight so I could have bought my own food to take on the plane. - The charging points on the back of the seat were inactive"
Pros: "After decades of near weekly air travel, I had no expectation of being wowed by an airline. Until Avianca. What a refreshing experience! The seats were comfortable and clean; and their complimentary in-flight entertainment was first-rate. All that for a surprisingly reasonable fare."
Pros: "The check in staff moved us to an earlier flight from Cartegna to Bigots so we wouldn't have to rush to make our Bogita to New York flight. Very nice of them & much appreciated. We flew Avianca 8 times over the past 11 days thru Peru & Colombia & had great experiences all the way around."

Cons: "As I arrived to check in I was notified that I would not be able to fly to San Jose from Colombia because I did not have the yellow fever shot which Costa Rica requires from flights coming from Colombia. Even though I am an American citizen.And when you receive the shot you must stay in Colombia for 10 days before you can leave the country.i don't understand why one is allowed to purchase a ticket from Colombia to Costa Rica without proof of the required vaccination.I didn't even receive a simple notification to receive the vaccination before my trip.Now I am still in Colombia.Already down an extra unexpected $500 and will miss work back in the states for not being able to return home on time.An airbnb reservation will be lost in Costa Rica which was prepaid for 5days.Worst of all I'm stuck in Colombia spending unexpected money to survive and will not be able to visit my PAID trip to Costa Rica.So unfair and a hole I will have to dig myself out of when and if Im able to make it back home"

Cons: "They overbooked the flight from Santiago to Bogota so I had to travel for 15 more hours."
Cons: "My flight to Bogota was pushed back from 10pm to 1:30am. This came after several problems (e.g. lost our luggage and cancelled our first flight to cartegena without sending a notification e-mail). We asked to be put on an earlier flight or at least upgraded to be more comfortable and they first lied that there was no more seats. Once we found out there were more seats that they could upgrade us to it became clear they had no customer services and didn't care about the huge inconvenience they had created (I had to miss work the next morning). We also tried talking on the phone once we found out the flight was pushed back and the phone assistance people are unhelpful. In addition, to get a refund they will not help you submit a claim, instead they make it as inconvenient as possible - probably because they mess up so much that they have to make it as hard as possible for people to get money back."

Also the 1 8kilo bad allowance in the cabin is a bit unreasonable but I see why they need to because the overhead storage and under the sit storage was less than normal too."

The entertainment system kept dropping playback, (crashing) so I would have to restart playing the video. Something similar happened on another Turkish flight."

Cons: "This is our second experience of flights being cancelled via Turkish Airlines. Very disappointing customer care when flights get cancelled. Staff totally unprepared and untrained for such situations. We waited around for 6 hours before finding out on our own, that the flight was cancelled. The notice was not shown on the board. In all waited around at the airport for more than 10 hours before we were finally carted off to a small hotel near by at 1230am in the morning. Very little to no information given throughout the whole process, stranded with parched throats, no luggage, clean clothes or toothbrush."

Pros: "This is a government run airline with very poor customer service. I flew 6 flights in December, 2016 in business class - out of which 5 flights were late. There was no help at the transfer desk in Istanbul to get onto another flight as my connecting flight was missed because the original outbound flight was late. The customer service staff both at the lounge and the transfer desk were inept and rude and did not want to help. I shudder to think how economy passengers are treated."
Cons: "1) No organized boarding process - there is a general melee at the boarding gate with a lot of shoving and pushing. 2) Customer service staff are rude, incompetent and unhelpful 3) No recognition that customers are to be served 4) Food selection in business class was mediocre and poor 5) Old aircraft - on flight from Istanbul to London, business class was 3 abreast with the middle seat being used as a tray table. 6) Sleeper class is mediocre - seat width is poor and one cannot even turn on the side"

Pros: "The service I received on Turkish Airlines was excellent. I live in rural Rwanda and it was really nice to actually sit back, relax, and not worry about getting to where I was going. The staff was courteous and friendly and even let me keep my can of tomato juice. These may seem like small things to you but it made me feel at home for the first time in over a year and I want you guys to know I truly appreciated it. In addition to that, the flight was actually affordable and I was able to make it to New York to surprise my mom for her 60th birthday. Job well done! Thanks again and best of luck! Cons: "1) Since we had a long layover at Istanbul, the airline provides the option to take you to a free hotel to spend the night. I knew this information based on online reviews, but the airline itself never did anything to offer this, I had to walk around on the airport, for like 2 hours I could not find decent help and some instructions in broken English. I had to pay 25 Euros to get mi visa stamped and walk out of the airport. The Turkish Airlines attendant that set up the free hotel for us, walked us to a shuttle that would drive us to the hotel, but the shuttle driver got lost? or something happened that caused for him to drive around town for more than an hour, speaking on the phone loudly in Turkish and completely ignoring us when we asked questions, This got a little scary since we had no idea what was going on, at some point we were in the middle of a dark residential area, and listening to the driver yell on the phone (god knows what). Luckily a driver came over and guided us to the hotel, but seriously, they should be careful about who they hire for these kind of tasks. (I posted a video on instagram with footage of the guy driving us around in case my family needed to find me)."

Cons: "I wanted to cancel my flight on Turkish as I was concerned about safety after the terrible attack there at IST. I was told that TK were changing tickets and issuing refunds for a period of 7 days after the attack - and I was scheduled to fly on day 8. They refused to refund or change - all they would say are 'fare fules' - 'fare rules'. When I passenger has a concern over personal safety, and in the aftermath of a large scale lapse in security at their main hub, they should be more understanding and not stand by their arbitrary 7 day rule."
