Hot water lacking at times in shower

I liked the location in the heart of Madrid surrounded by places of interest, shops, restaurants etc. The room has rather big, clean and tidy bathroom which I like very much. The style is simple but pleasant and the building I think is of the begining of 20th century (or the end of 19th) and is rather pretty.

The location on Plaza Puerto del Sol has the opposite side. Of course it's one of the main squares of the city but due to that it's never empty even at 4 o'clock of the morning. The people are talking rather loudly all night long and though they didn't shout and there was no disco etc but these endless talking under my closed window was enough not to let me sleep well. And they have a strange tradition in Spain to take away garbage at 12 or 1 o'clock of the night (even at 3 o'clock sometimes), and this process of cleaning is reall loud, it was like alarm clock for me. But if you have no problems with sleep or you are going to have an active night...

Very clean, very centrally located and wonderful (family?) staff

The rooms areally simple and clean. A stone's throw from the main Puerta de Sol square you are smack bang in the midst of things with a short walk to many Madrid attractions. Also the Metro is less than a minute away. The price also makes this an attractive options.

In terms of charm there is not much endearing to this hotel. The newly renovated reception and staircases are lovely but the rooms are simple and cramped for some people's tastes.

The location is excellent. Close to everything. Walking distance. The price was also reasonable.

The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The spring mattress as very old and kept poking me throughout the night. Because of this we were not able to get any more that 3-4 hours of sleep.

Location was what i liked best about Gay Hostal Pueta del Sol Madrid.

1. The hostal felt unsafe. There were signs all over about 24 hour camera survelliance because of robberies. The hostal was on the 4th floor. Had 3 keys to get in. Locks did not work on the front entrance in the building, which was locked at night. 2. Hostal staff spoke only Spanish. Hard for an international traveller ( US). 3. Liked the location, but way to much noise from the street till 5am. 4. No telephone or alarm clock in room for wake up call.

The room for 4 was a bit smalletr than expected and the use of bunk beds for adults is not recommended.

The location of this hotel just round the corner from Puerta de Sol was excellent

Our room was badly ventilated and dark with a window that looked at a gap between the buildings that was covered by a sky light. Luckily we were there in winter otherwise it would have been very hot and stuffy

Excellent site in the city center. Number small, but cozy enough. The friendly personnel. Wi-Fi.

Beds were not comfortable, room size was extremely small for 2 people.

Extremely cold room, freezing bathroom. Despite having the fan maximum temperature for more than 12 hours, the Room was really cold, the bed shits: poor , and the bathroom....a fridge. The restaurant is on the top floor and theres a little path roofless to get there. In spite of asking for late check-out and having the add on the internet, it was 12:00 the max check-out hour permitted. All in all, expensive for the services offered
