Flights from Heathrow to Pearson Intl: the best tips from KAYAK users' own experiences

Boarding of the plane is a nightmare, and the gate staff don’t allow sufficient time for each zone to board in order. Get in line ASAP and just start board as soon as they begin letting people on the plane. Also, the self service check in machines won’t print baggage tags (we tried four different machines and none of them would print a baggage tag even though we had done online check in to indicate that we had checked bags).
LydiaFlew with American AirlinesJun 2024
Give yourself enough connection time in London to clear customs even for connecting flights.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaMay 2024
It is a long walk to the gate so make sure to leave yourself time. We were told 4 hours ahead and we should have taken that advice.

Seating and zone. The minor I went with didn’t even seat close to me

My seat 3G did not go down fully and the buttons were not working properly

Food has been disappointing in both legs of flight to india

Great staff great experience, made a 2 hour delay very bearable

Great staff, great experience, made a 2 hour delay very bearable

Food was the worst I’ve had on a VA flight. Normally it’s a lot better

I was my pleasure to fly virgin on my birthday for my first solo trip ever 🫶🏼

These are one of the older seat arrangements facing away from the windows! Not particularly convenient sets. No storage spaces. NO COAT HANGING HOOKS. Inconvenient business class seat compared to any other airlines of similar class. Staff are excellent! Extremely professional, friendly. Food is good too.

Overall, flight was excellent but check in was very slow for Premium Economy. Economy queue was shorter but we weren't allowed to use it.

The staff was not very polite but the flight was very very nice and comfortable and the entertainment was great

Air traffic delay meant boarding started, then plane was evacuated and passengers sent back to the terminal for 1 hour. Very little information shared.

Our AC flight was canceled not once but twice on the same day to Quebec City at Toronto Pearson Airport. 2;30 AC and 9;40PM AC flight. After having our 2:35 flight canceled, we were bumped the second time because of large student groups visiting Quebec City. We were sent to Montreal on an 11:30 flight which landed close to 12:45AM. We were given a hotel room at the Marriot Hotel next to the airport. We had less than 4 hours sleep before we being taken to the airport for our 7AM flight to Quebec City. We didn't have much time to use our vouchers given for breakfast once we had cleared customs for the 2nd time since leaving Toronto Pearson Airport. We missed a full evening in Quebec City and lost our hotel room for the night. We were exhausted the next day and missed an excursion we had planned. My wife and I are both seniors in our seventies, and we weren't happy to be treated in this manner. Air Canada could have used a larger plane to accommodate us and the other ten or so people that were bumped from their flight to Quebec City in order to accommodate student groups. We will endeavor never to fly Air Canada again in future and we will not recommend flying with this airline to our friends and families.

Better to not serve food if those are the options

It was a good experience flying Air Canada for the first time

They did not let us board because one member needed a transit visa, which was not evident at the time of ticket purchase.

I was charge a baggage checking fee $68!! I volunteered to check my duffle bag which usually goes under my seat!

Boarding - 3 of 4 flights were delayed and the gate staff did an ok job of managing the lines for boarding. Lots of standing around in line - more than typical. Crew - accommodating. If you are looking for warmth, you will not experience it with AC. But I appreciate their hard work and relative efficiency on 8+ hour flights. Comfort - My first 2 flights were cancelled the morning I was due to depart. AC rescheduled me on 2 new flights that created only minimal disruption and change to my itinerary (a longer layover, several hours difference in arrival time) and provided a 15 dollar food voucher for the layover restaurant which was the equivalent of a measly sandwich. My seats were changed which is a huge issue for my physical size as I require additional legroom for medical reasons, and I was put in a very uncomfortable seat without the option for seat selection. The bathrooms were incredibly dirty and foul smelling to the point of being nauseating and I was next to it during my longest of 4 flights. Entertainment - I always travel with downloaded entertainment on my own devices and a power bank, and am glad I did! The entertainment was completely non functioning for my 8+ hour flight home. We were provided a 15% or 50 dollar voucher on a future flight by way of compensation. Food - always just poor to mid. I also travel with my own food when possible as in flight meals and snacks taste strongly of packaging. Overall, this was a poor to mid experience, and I am resigned to the fact that airlines are never going to improve.

I did not like anything because the flight was cancelled yesterday and I did not get to arrive on time in Toronto as I was rebooked with another airline. This caused me to be really stressed out as I am an individual with back injury and to be forced to stay longer in an airport to accommodate a change of airline and the transfers associated with it Due to this I am probably not going to book through your website to eliminate this potentially chaos in the future

shittiest airline in the hemisphere. To improve - start thinking you're flying people, not cattle

Easy boarding, inflight refreshments came on time and comfortable seat

Repurchased food and it was moldy and expensive. But I figured it was bad luck so I purchased a cup-o-noodles, halfway through them we hit turbulence and the flight attendant was passing with the garbage, it would have been two seconds to grab it, but he was snarky grabbed someone else’s plastic cups and went to buckle up… I used the puke bags to secure the soup before it became an accessory. When he finally came around he gave me a face like a petulant child as I handed him the soup neatly wrapped in the paper then plastic bag. I watched a movie in silence as the rental or headphones was ridiculous at 4€ for those .10€ cheap plastic toys. No English subtitles on an American movie… crazy. I disliked the whinny little tourist trap and now I hope that it sinks into the ocean or erupts in a catastrophic eruption for their beloved “I live on an active volcano” pride.

The Check-in process at CDG was confusing and the crew was not helpful. But the flight was on-time and that is most important to me.

At least one soda free, felt like I was nickeled to death.

Was a bit surprised that Icelandair flies a domestically configured 757s on long-haul flights to Iceland (no lie-flat seats in business class).

The Icelandair crew was so kind!!! Thank you for making my first trip to Paris a great one!

I am not going to fillo this out for each leg of my trip. My first review holds for the experience

The movie choices were poor. The worst problem is the treatment of passengers durinng pre-boarding. In one case the primes were checked in and sent down the boarding tunnek only to stand waiting there while the plane is cleaned. In the second case the bus was loaded, the doors closed and just stood there unmoving like sardeines in a tin for over TEN minutes. In both cases it was rough on us old guys who find standing for long periods trying.. In other words, Donnt just stack us up and forget us.

Second time with Saga Premium, everything was fab, but the entertainment centre on both my flights didn't work, plus the seat on the NY to Rek flight (Airbus) was so solid and so uncomfortable. The 737Max flight's seat was much, much better.

The most uncomfortable seat i’ve ever had on a flight

The real reason why the flying experience with Icelandair ---was mediocre was because of not being able to enter DC airspace yesterday evening. This obviously was out of your control and do realize this is a safety issue. I did notice---that everything was being done to get us to Washington Dulles and we did arrive at Dulles SAFELY with just a 4 hour delay. Thank you!

In my first flight with Air Canada we sat in the plane for 4:00pm to 6:30pm. Finally we were asked to get off the plane and we were told the flight was cancelled after 7:00pm There was o clear explanation of what was the problem. I was booked without my permission on a Delta Flight at 7:30pm that was leaving at 8:00pm and I still had to go get my luggage(my final destination was Rome with one stop in Toronto. The luggage claim for Canada was closed so had to return to finally get it on the luggage belt.. Of course I missed the Delta flight and all the next day flights were booked. I also lost what I paid for my stay in Rome because I did nt cancel in time. A complete nightmare.

The flight was delayed 7 hours and we were given 10 euros vouchers. This is ridiculous. The crew was not nice at all, they just did their job with serving food and drinks. Did not even apologize for the delay!!!!

Flight map did not work. Crew was great, food was good, plane took off on time and landed early. That's all I can ask.

Paid for exit row at the back of the plane. Window seat with lots of leg space. Food was inedible (as usual). Brought my own.

Missed flight. Requested assistance for my father and he did not receive it in Paris.

Business Class was very comfortable and the food and service was top notch.

The crew was very nice. The equipment on the 747 felt old.

As expected. Would have appreciated a 3-day headsup reminder as a reassurance that all is well.

Poor food on flight between Toronto and Stockholm Airport Toronto too crowded

The plane was late (as was my flight out from Birmingham the day before)

Business class lounge for my gate was closed and no email was sent, causing me to walk back and forth to different gates, etc for over 20 minutes one way. Flight entertainment was mediocre with very poor choices especially for business class cabin. Original flight was cancelled and rebooking was difficult and no reason given for cancellation.

Very comfortable flight and simple and directed one way and back. Amazing price.

We loved our flight attendant, Emma from Scotland, the meal and entertainment offerings were wonderful, the flight was smooth, and enough leg room to stretch. We would fly with you again!

Los Angeles to London. 25th of April 2026. Business class. I was flying backwards with a complete stranger snoring next to me. In Business class. Males and females, strangers lying next to each other. Seats were backwards. I paid for comfort. I got dizziness and stress.

I liked that we got there safely. I disliked long delays, gate and ticket agents incompetence and apathy and having my luggage lost. Five days later I've yet to get anything more than a generic apology from British Air. Luggage yet to be located, much less returned.

Long line with check in at the DIA British Airway counter.

The flights were on time. Cabin crew were nice. The food was terrible! Checking in was not easy using my phone.

Crew were fantastic and the aircraft was extremely comfortable, but outdated. Headphone jacks were worn out and sound normally only came out of one ear unless positioned just right.

No problems except for a completely full flight. But we were add one because of a previous delayed flight.

The map feature on the display at the seat had challenges. The biggest issue was the flight had no WIFI. Most of the smaller planes now have free WIFI. American Airlines on the flight over had WIFI you could purchase. With 8-10 hours on a single flight, the ability to do work via WIFI is essential!!
