Flights from Mumbai to London: the best tips from KAYAK users' own experiences

Insights shared by verified travellers who flew the route from Mumbai to London
Verified travelerFlew with British Airways-Feb 2026
Give yourself a lot of time at Mumbai! But not too long or you can’t enter the international terminal. It is a mess! I would recommend the taxi to the terminal 2 (negotiate around 10,000 rupees), free buses can take a long time as many people take them with their suitcases. Also, check if you need to pick up suitcases in Mumbai even if you travel internationally. It can happen.
Verified travelerFlew with British Airways-Mar 2025
Flying through Europe is best, as it breaks the journey into two approx equal halves. The 17-hour haul from MiddleEast is too tiring. I enjoyed flying on Lufthansa and also like both Munich and Frankfurt airports! Avoid London. They now charge and require a transit visa.
GautamFlew with British Airways-Dec 2024
I like the BA flight that departs at 8:50 am local time from Mumbai - it allows for a decent amount of sleep before heading to the airport early morning. The airport is also less crowded at that time, so security & immigration is a breeze.
JaiFlew with British Airways-Jan 2025
The morning flights are always recommended as you miss less sleep. Getting to the airport was easy. The airport security was not crowded.
Verified travelerFlew with British Airways-Jan 2025
Keep layover for more than 3 hours if you are flying to US 1. need time for security 2. Need time to walk to your gate
Verified travelerFlew with British Airways-Jul 2024
Be ready to book wheel chair assistance for senior citizens
IramFlew with British Airways-Aug 2024
Keep water bottles to avoid asking for more.
Verified travelerFlew with British Airways-Mar 2024
Get there early. No one from British Airways will tell you this but there are separate queues if you are traveling by business or first class. Do NOT keep any valuables in your checked in bag, they will be stolen. Eat before the flight if you can as the inflight meals as if January of 2024 are really bad. Do not carry any spices or pickle in your carry on bags, security will make you throw them away.
