Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "The flight was cheap."
Cons: "Flight was delayed over an hour because the pilot was late."
Pros: "Ryan air no hastle toom off on time landed early"
Cons: "Nothing great airline i use them all the time"
Pros: "Plane wasn’t fully booked so allowed for swift boarding and disembarking"
Cons: "The reintroduction of ‘quiet flights’, 2 years okay Ryanair has a big campaign, no announcements other than for safety before 0800 and after 2100. So people could rest on early morning and late night flights - this stoped some time ago. With no advertising.!"
Cons: "Flight was delayed significantly with no communication"
Pros: "No delay"
Pros: "Nothing."
Cons: "Flight was late. Gate agent hassled me for my Irish residence permit without articulating that she wanted me to produce it."
Cons: "It was not Ryanair... It was KAYAK who fooled us."
Pros: "Fast flight"
Cons: "Mess at the airport, ryanair speeding at the gate but not with the flight"
Pros: "There is nothing to like about an airline that appears to have low fares and then nickel & dimes you for everything, typical bait-and-switch style of doing business."
Cons: "First of all, this airline needs to train their staff better. The gate agent I dealt with on a flight has no business in any field where she would be required to work with people. Second, this airline needs to get their s*@t together when it comes to baggage. I was humiliated (by the creature they hired for a gate agent) when I was forced off the boarding line and then demanded to pay 200 euros (cash only and in euros only) for carry-on luggage that was under the size and weight requirements, and had already flown, without incident, on numerous flights during the same trip. I filed a complaint with Ryanair and weeks later received a very passive, useless, response from some brain-dead individual in corporate I suppose. No one at Ryanair cared about the mafioso-type treatment my family and I, including my 80-year-old mother, received. Avoid this airline at all costs (literally and figuratively)! It will not save you money, or anything else. It will only cost you more!"
Pros: "I initially liked the initial low fare rate."
Cons: "I didn't like the checkin process online and being charged the 55 pound fee for not checking in early. I was having problems accessing my account and requested my password to be changed in the morning several times, however, they did not send me the link for the password change, and therefore, I was not able to login to check in correctly."
Cons: "expensive ticket when you add up all the fees, plus it’s stressful and chaotic."
Pros: "The staff is rude."
Cons: "Never heard of having to keep windowns open the entire flight."
Pros: "The crew was friendly and helpful."
Cons: "The flight was delayed and even the crew seemed to be getting no information about it. Ryanair did nothing to compensate their passengers for a 2 hour delay."
Cons: "My flight was missed from Stanstead to Dublin and RyanAir employees did not help me, they only wanted to sell me another expensive ticket."
Pros: "The crew were quick and efficient"
Cons: "The flight was delayed and we had to stand outside on the tarmac in the freezing cold for about twenty minutes before we were allowed to board."
Cons: "Worst landing I’ve ever had hands down. It felt like we dropped out of the sky. You get what you paid for."
Pros: "Nothing, I would rather pay more next time to take a flight that offered better service."
Cons: "After everyone qued to get on plane last minute change in gate, everyone stampeded to new gate, flight to London very stressful. While in England we were worried about whether we would even get flight back with reports that multiple flights were cancelled due to messing up on pilots vacations. No services unless you paid, the stewardesses constantly peddling items for sell which was annoying."
Pros: "They did not cancel our flight like they did others."
Cons: "Did not pay to choose seats and my wife and I were at separate ends of the plane - i had an empty row. SAME THING BOTH FLIGHTS."
Pros: "Fare was reasonable."
Cons: "Boarding process was slow and tedious. Asked for boarding pass by gate agent and flight attendant. Created unnecessary delay getting everyone seated."
Pros: "I liked nothing about this flight."
Cons: "I didn't like the fact that I was never allowed to board this plane and I ended up having to book a hotel for a night and then fly out the next day on an Air Lingus flight. As I found out later, Ryanair did send me an email saying that I would need to print out my boarding pass early. However, I had already left the U.S. and never saw that email. Then when I arrived at the airport, I was told that I would have to go to customer service in order to obtain a boarding pass. Then the line was so long that I could never obtain a boarding pass in time. No one was willing to help me even though there were plenty of employees standing around doing nothing. So I ended up buying three Ryanair tickets that were worthless. I will never fly Ryanair again and I would recommend that no Americans ever fly on that airline."
Pros: "The crew were really friendly and helpful. It was painless, quick, and easy :)"
Pros: "Price"
Cons: "Allocation of seats saw my wife in 5c and myself in 31d. 31e was vacant."
Pros: "It was a quick flight"
Cons: "The employees were just as unhelpful flying to dublin as they were flying out of dublin. Simple questions were met with disdain and annoyance rather than polite answers. We went through 3 different people before finding out that we didn't need to go through any of them which the first person could have told us. By the way the first person was a customer service attendant and he swiftly moved us on to the next line to stand in which was completely unnecessary and a waste of everyone's time. I will never fly with ryanair again."
Pros: "Friendly and helpful cabin staff"
Cons: "Really cramped seating :-("
Cons: "thought i checked in on line; apparently didn't submit and was charge $50 euro x 2."
Pros: "Good service overall from flight crew."
Cons: "Left 20 minutes late and missed our next flight."
Pros: "Quick to unload."
Cons: "In flight costs"
Cons: "Confusion at the airport. I went to check in only to be told I have to wait in a different line to pay for a checked bag, went to the other line, waited an hour. Why wouldn't you let me pay for a bag when I check in? Instead of sending me to customer service. The flight was delayed, sat in the boarding line an hour."
Cons: "They never gave me a gate number and we ended up going to the wrong gate and missing our flight... We even asked for one and said it was our responsibility... Also we were charged 90 dollars for not registering online 2 days in advanced"
Cons: "Charged us 90 pounds extra because we didn't have access to the internet to check in the day prior. This is a very discriminating practice against those who can not afford to be on the internet. It should not be allowed and our money should be refunded. Shame on Ryan Air to have such a discriminating program. Cost for a one way trip from London Stansted to Dublin, Ireland for two, 45.72 for tickets, 58.32 for luggage, 90 pound fee for not using the internet, total 194.04 pounds. Cheap is relative?"
Cons: "Airport checking fee Baggage fee 45 pounds Crew behavior"
Pros: "Punctuality, cheery crew, decent leg room compared to some other airlines, inability to recline seats (great!)."
Cons: "Lack of seat-back pocket in front for book, newspaper etc."
Pros: "Cheap flight Pleasant flight attendants"
Cons: "Ended up missing flight because they said I didn't check in online. I did everything I was prompted to do (passport number, add a bag, etc), but apparently there was another button on the bottom of the webpage I had to scroll down and click. They wanted to charge us 45 euros each to check in onsite. The first person also said we didn't pay our baggage fee, which we did. Once we got things situated the doors were closed (even though the plane wasn't leaving for another 45 minutes) and they wouldn't let us through. They wanted to charge us 100 euros each to change to another flight, when the flight itself cost 39 euros. They wouldn't refund the baggage fee either! Apparently they can charge such a low ticket price because they get their money by scamming people out of it. When we finally DID get on a flight the next day, it was like an infomercial the whole way there...trying to sell people everything from water to watches. I would never suggest Ryanair to anyone."
Cons: "Awful checkin staff"
Pros: "Inexpensive bus ride to London from Dublin."
Cons: "Everything is an upcharge...bag check, food, seating choice...and then bombarded with trinket purchase, donation to charity, beverage and food purchase... Rough landings on both legs of the trip...like pilots still training on how to land. Weather was clear and beautiful, so was not condition- related."
Pros: "Really enjoyed my flight to London & back to Dublin with my Nieces"
Cons: "Would have loved it if there were some Irish stewards or stewardesses on board as it would have been easier to understand their accents and they tend to warmer & friendlier in their dealings with passengers"
Pros: "Friendly crew"
Cons: "The seats are to close to one another and gets unconfortable fast"
Pros: "Nothing. Do not fly. They are horrible and have horrible service."
Cons: "When we got up to the register we had to fork up over $80 for bags that could have even been carry-on's. While booking there was nothing stated about these charges. If this was going to be a charge it should have been made clear. Very unimpressed and displeased with the service from Ryanair."
Pros: "Ticket Price!"
Cons: "Luggage fee was as much as the ticket!"
Cons: "slow, disorganized check in. Boarding is hideous, I'd rather wait in a DMV line. Airline run as if consumer, and luggage, are to be avoided. I cannot understand why Anyone would fly them routinely."
Pros: "Early boarding for premium customers."
Cons: "I paid for a premium seat which was narrow and had hard sides instead of armrests, very uncomfortable. I ordered a gin and tonic until they told me no ice on the airplane. Are you kidding me? This is the first flight that I've ever heard of this, hello 1950."
Pros: "Nothing!"
Cons: "After experiencing a hardship, Ryanair staff refused to allow me to check a bag because I didn't have the funds. They made me unpack it and load it into a carryon. As a result I had to leave some valuables behind. They did not have a humane bone in their collective bodies. They charge you for EVERYTHING, including water. They're so hard up for money they sell lottery tickets in flight! Don't EVER waste your money flying with them."
Pros: "Cost Convenience"
Cons: "Walking across tarmac to board No music or anything"
Pros: "Got there early despite plane delay."
Cons: "Plane delayed and couldn't understand one crew member as she was speaking too quickly."
Pros: "Easy to book."
Cons: "We planned this trip several months out, then my husbands military orders (temporary duty) were extended. I called and called and called and emailed because I had stupidly purchased the insurance also. No one would help even because of the sudden change to our plans. So we're out money for all of us, and nothing can be done and no one will help. When we do make this trip later -- after my husband retires, I will not be working with any of these companies."
Cons: "All the last minute fees are more than the ticket price"
Pros: "If you are flying without luggage or carry-on, Ryan Air might be fore you."
Cons: "The airline charges a ridiculous amount for EVERYTHING! We bought our tickets and realized almost immediately that bags were not included. We tried to upgrade our ticket type to be inclusive of a bag, but took two hours to navigate their automated "customer service". Finally got through to a live person (which they charge for), they will allow you to upgrade the ticket if you bought through KAYAK. You have to purchase your bags separately, and 1 bag was significantly more than what our ticket costs. I contacted KAYAK roughly 5 hours after the original purchase, and they could do nothing because Ryan Air is a low cost carrier. It was cheaper buy Aer Lingus seats inclusive of luggage than to add luggage on Ryan Air. I will never fly Ryan Air again, and caution anyone trying to buy Ryan Air through KAYAK"
Pros: "The flight was short."
Cons: "This is our long awaited honeymoon. We have traveled and checked in to over 8 flights on this trip all across Europe. But with Ryan air, for some reason, I checked in for the flight but it did not accept on RyanAir side for some reason. I knew I would need to pay for excess luggage (not a surprise. I was expecting it) but then I paid to get up front seats with priority boarding. I had to enter in all the passport info, select seats and pay immediately.(figuring this is checking in, since it was all in the checking in section of he website) So all together a flight was originally $100, turned into a flight that cost me well over $300. Then at the airport, they told me I never checked in. I was charged £90 just to check in!!! Then on top of it I had the counter clerk call me a "bloody wanker" and asking if I have" ever checked into a flight before". He continued to berate me and insult my intelligence. When I asked to see a manager because at this point in only had 20 minutes to get to the boarding gate, he threw a fit and said I need to move out of the way or else he will not even check if the manager is available. The manager and the second clerk who helped is were very nice about things. Surprise fees and not even a small amount of compassion for 2 people who are on their honeymoon, insults, and paying more to go from London to Dublin than to go from Dublin to Manila (the next stop) is absurd!!! I will never fly RyanAir again and will do everything in my power to make sure no one I know will fly with them. Miserable."
Cons: "This is by far one of the worst companies I've ever used. They upcharge you for anything they can. Our flight went from cheap to expensive as hell really quickly. Extremely unorganized with awful pricing models. You would think in modern times that airlines like this would adopt new business paradigms. Their website was awful and out of date, they charge for seat selection, they charged an extra $65 per ticket for not checking in 2 hours before, check in bags were expensive and in airport services were crowded and extremely unorganized. If you can fly a different airline besides Ryanair I would suggest doing it. I would rather take a boat to my destination."
