We like Delta, Alaska and American. Be prepared for a bit of a trek from your arrival gate to Customs and outside services. Heathrow doesn't rank high on my list of major airports.
Verified travelerFlew with American Airlines-Apr 2026
Heathrow is too gigantic to have less than 2 hours of layover time.
Verified travelerFlew with British Airways-Apr 2025
Make sure you have plenty of time between flights if you are delayed.
Verified travelerFlew with British Airways-Feb 2025
Don’t take a flight if you sick, or if you have no choice prepare to stay covered with mask throughout the flight

Bring a sack lunch -- airport food was very expensive.

The plane was clearly new and very clean. Flight attendants were attentive and pleasant. I liked the new access to wifi.

I paid extra to choose my seat. I chose a window seat. I don’t know if it was a disconnect between KAYAK or the airline but when we got to the airport, the seat was changed to a middle seat. Didn’t notice it til at the gate. I called wanted a refund and was told that I didn’t choose the seat even though on my KAYAK reservation it showed seat 12 A. So I paid extra for seat selection, but didn’t get it. And also did not get a refund. I specifically pay the extra for a seat selection. I normally am very happy with Alaska Airlines. They are usually in my top three of choices.

very cramped in seating, especially when person in front of us put their seat back.

SeaT was a mess, couldn't get our wheelchair service. Had to walk all the way to N. Once we found our flight. Check in and baggage was terrible.

I was not made aware that the seat I paid extra money for would not recline. This was an over night flight, with a seat that was designed to not recline. Flight was on time. Crew was polite and efficient. SEAT DID NOT RECLINE. HOW DO YOU SLEEP WITH A SEAT THAT DOES NOT RECLINE? I WAS NOT TOLD THAT THE SEAT WOULD NOT RECLINE.

Pretty good flight. Airport lounge was dirty, crowded, and noisy.

They sat me in a better row and seat. Was not squished like the flight from Tucson to Seattle. Because I was in a wheelchair, everyone was very solicitous. Great flight. The only thing that disappointed me was there was no WiFi.

Gated at different concourse than was supposed to be, with tight connexion

The bags arrived much later than expected. The boarding was done slowly. The taxi time was too long at SEA. It is a bad airport for international connections.

Room is great! Excellent value. Boarding & service extremely good. Food was the worst I’ve ever had on a plane.

I think I previously submitted my feedback about flight lead Katherine in a different field by mistake. Please see those comments. Comments for Hyd to AMS are it was good. The flight lead and service met expectations for satisfactory high quality service but the flight lead did not stand out as exceptional as did the leads on the other two flights so I don’t remember anything specific one way or the other besides the fact I was satisfied.

The flight was excellent, the crew was super friendly. The only complaint I have is, 3 of my zipper handles were broken and there were 2 massive scratches on the back of my bag

Had to cancel and rebook, KLM connection was cancelled prior to departure, ended up flying to Munich on non-Delta carrier.

As per usual when you Hit the UK it's a slow process through customs Not as efficient at Thailand for sure

The crew were unprofessional with a racist element. I was physically abused as well from one of the crew members

Empty seats next to me - wish it had been for a longer flight!!

They forgot to serve food and the crew was very unfriendly. Never experienced such a bad KLM flight. Usually fly from Toronto. New York was different.

KLM remains a quality flag carrier airline which maintains its standards whilst all their competitors are lowering theirs.

Cabin crew professional, polite and friendly, boarding was seemless, but come on KLM surely you can do better than a pack of cheesy biscuits as an inflight snack

The plane. Airbus A330-200. Comfortable for a 7-hour flight. Seats seemed to have more legroom. I was in row 17. Flight was operated by Delta but was better than expected.

Check in at the desk was very slow pus Security, although not Virgin issue at JFK was a nightmare. 50 minuet wait no time to explore airport and get last minuet gifts. total wait 1.5hours

Great staff great experience, made a 2 hour delay very bearable

I was my pleasure to fly virgin on my birthday for my first solo trip ever 🫶🏼

Overall, flight was excellent but check in was very slow for Premium Economy. Economy queue was shorter but we weren't allowed to use it.

The crew was excellent as ever on Virgin. The special meal was poor unfortunately. More significantly when we arrived at Manchester Airport there was no air bridge provided and we had to exit the plane down a rickety stair case. This is unacceptable for a transatlantic flight. Whilst I understand that this is the airport’s fault at the end of the day the airline is responsible for our transportation and needs to do something.

Super friendly and helpful staff, from check-in desk to cabin crew.

Good overall. Cannot fault the airlines. I have had better entertainment systems before ie ice in Emirates but it was not too bad. Food was decent and staff were friendly.

Miami airport needs more thorough signage. It was a long walk from my transport point to the check in desk,

Flight took off an hour late. Had to stay on the tarmac for half an hour after landing. Both annoying.

i saved my points for more than 10 years in anticipation of treating myself to an upper class fight to and from london on virgin atlantic. i was shocked to find what you consider “upper class” on the dreamliner. it was, at best, a mediocre business class accommodation. it was tight and not that comfortable, with nearly no personal storage. everything was cramped and just generally disappointing. once i lucked into a 1st class upgrade to europe on lufthansa - a magical experience that found me reluctant to sleep, lest i deprive myself the joy of their setup. i expected something similar from virgin atlantic, but i could not have been more wrong. it will be the same arrangement on my flight home, but at least i know what (not) to expect. to be clear, this is only in reaction to the physical accommodations. your people were, and always are fantastic.

Hard to figure out how to put back the seat, how to get the entertainment, how to upload passport docs. Also, a warning in the airport that food was all for purchase would have been helpful.

Horrible. My dad was recently hospitalized and diagnosed with lymphoma and Icelandair refused to refund flight even though I had a letter from his physician.

I had no idea that my ticket only paid for my right to get on the plane. They charged me $130 for my carry-on bag because it was 1 inch too big she claimed but it wasn’t! Then they wanted another fee for everything. I had no idea that Icelandair had changed to such a bargain basement airline. I was very disappointed.

Screen didn't work, and neither did the button to tilt the seat even though the seat was comfortable

The staff was kind and helpful. There was no food, and you needed to bring your own earphones to use the entertainment, which I didn’t know.

Seat was hard and uncomfortable and the temperature too warm and uncomfortable.

Everything was good. Only issue comes from being vegan and flying. The food options are super limited.

Overall good for an economy fare. IMO the movie selection could be improved. Great that you can now connect bluetooth headphones to the entertainment system.

7 hours 15 min flight from SEA to Iceland with no inflight entertainment and no power to charge your own devices, also no meal service, not even any snacks/cookies. You have to buy food and the options are extremely limited (i.e. ham and cheese sandwich and spicy cup noodles). I didn't think Iceland air was a budget airline, maybe I was wrong, the cost of the ticket didn't feel like it though.

Very nice flight, easy connections in Keflavík, and friendly crew.

Meh. Lived the seat. The entertainment unit did not work and had to be reset 3 times. Service was SLOW taking over 90 min to be served. Crew forgot about my meal. Chicken was dry and almost inedible.

Flying on the Boeing 787 from Seattle to London was everything that I expected. Every thing was great.

Moved me away from my family and refused to fix it.

Connection at Hethrow was horrible..We couldn't get out of the plane for an hour as they were buying people to the airport and there were not enough busses. We had 2 and half hf between flights so it was very tight. After departing plane we had to go thru security again. People with less time in between connections missed their flights

Captain sick. Unable to get replacement so delayed me 30 hours, many others delayed 54 hours. TOTALLY DESTROYED ALL MY PLANS, including lost my rental car which would now cost over 5 times what I paid so stuck with buses n trains... lost hotel reservations.... HORRIBLE!!!

The BA business class cabin is excellent, very comfortable for sleeping but the service could be improved.

The flight from Seattle was delayed, which made me miss my connection to Florence. I was re-booked NINE HOURS LATER!!! That’s basically a vacation day lost. British Airways needs to partner with other airlines when possible to get a more realistic travel time, if delays occur. I realize there aren’t many flights to Florence from London, so I would book differently were I to return. The actual flight from Seattle was very comfortable and the crew was great, no faults there. I enjoy British Airways, this was an anomaly.

Could have done with a 2nd round of drinks even if it was only to distribute bottled water

The second leg of my flight unexpectedly got canceled. I was stuck at the airport for the whole day and instead of flying out that morning I flew out in the evening. For some of my fellow passengers it was the second cancellation and their original flight was supposed to go out the day before. There was no reason given though getting rebooked was quick even though I would have preferred if I would have been on one of the earlier flights that day. Compensation was a £10 voucher for some food at the airport. I eventually arrived without further incident but but due to the cancellation, it was one of my more frustrating travels of my life.

Due to a cyber attack at the SeaTac airport ALL of the airport computers at the airport were down. This seriously impacted every airline at the airport and the resulted in our flight leaving a hour later than scheduled. This delay caused us to miss our connecting flight from Heathrow to Edinburgh. I was amazed to have British Airways staff meet us at the gate as we left our flight. They quickly provided us with new boarding passes for a flight going to Edinburgh later the same day. Problems sometimes happen but they handled the situation in first class style.
