Pros: "Everything about my flights on Virgin Atlantic was amazing. The plane was new and comfortable, the seats seemed to recline more than in other airplane I have been. The entertainment was good with a wide selection of movies and TV shows. The crew was incredibly nice and helpful and I had a really pleasant time talking with them. On the airport team side I can also say they were extremely helpful as I missed my flight and they promptly rebooked me on the next one 3h later, free of charge. I think the stress of missing a flight was completely deflected by the help of the Virgin Atlantic crew at the desk so thank you for that!"

Shortly after take-off, our calm and comfortable more or less empty section of the aircraft was colonised by an extended family of Orthodox Jews in a kind of airborne West Bank situation. They weren’t in our section of the cabin at all to start with, and I don’t know why they were apparently able to get a free upgrade that I had to pay £100 for. We went from being in an almost empty cabin to being basically sat in the middle of an Orthodox Jewish kindergarten. It was awful! They were noisy, messy, were constantly getting in and out of their seats, the back of my seat kept getting kicked, and there was even a baby crawling around the aisle. We were surrounded. I have no idea whether this is characteristic of Orthodox Jewish family life, or just a completely inconsiderate family. They didn’t exactly ruin my flight, but they didn’t make it enjoyable either. I asked to be moved. The cabin crew were great and acknowledged the difficulty of the situation. My wife lost her window seat but at least we still had the legroom and peace and quiet."

I got to the airport very early to get a good seat only to be that and was given a very uncomfortable seat where I couldn't stretch my legs well because of a box on the floor situated to my left leg and to make the matter even more annoying my screen was not working which I was forced to take one heavy meant-so-called laptop. And finally cabin crew were lacking serious customer service and when u ask for something they were just so reluctant to deliver as if we were given a free ticket or something. May it be noted that my ticket was not that cheap to be treated in such manner."

The leg room was so tight that I could not pick up things off the floor without putting my head in the next persons lap. Though the cabin crew were smiley and friendly, it was hard to get their attention when needed. The PA system is much louder than the entertainment, so announcements were ear bursting. The dinner selections ran out early, so a good proportion did not get their choice."

Cons: "We got told that our flight number had changed from VS103 to VS4049 but still a Virgin flight. Only when we checked in we found out we were now flying with Delta and number was now DL285. Was not happy as wanted to fly with Virgin.The seats were ok but the entertainment system went down mid film. Took an hour to get started again. The games didn't work. Staff were a bit grumpy."

Cons: "We were told over the phone that we could bring our kayaks with us to Africa but the airport staff denied not only our kayaks, but also our paddles which were in a standard ski bag. Their excuse was that both the kayaks and paddle bags were 2 inches too long. .. TWO INCHES!!!!!! We had record of the person we talked to and the time and date, but none of that seemed to matter. It caused A HUGE INCONVENIENCE for us since we are in Zambia for 6 weeks without our gear to paddle one of the most challenging rivers in the world... the Zambezi. Now we are constantly trying to acquire the proper equipment with very little success. We run a nonprofit called the Montana Kayak Academy which provides free whitewater instruction to youth between 8 &18 yrs old and we will be sure to tell everyone we know to NOT TRAVEL WITH EITHER VIRGIN ATLANTIC OR BRITISH AIRWAYS.... EVER!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Pros: "I was selected for additional screening at the gate. I have no problem with this at all. From the start I told them I am traveling with my fiancee. They tried to hold me back in a separate area after the screening and I once again told them my fiancee was waiting for me. One staff memeber walked with me half way back to get her and then disappeared. By the time I found her and came back, the staff memeber was no where to be found. Now we had lost are spot in the line and had to go to the back of the line. We spoke to 3 different staff people about what was going on and everyone said, oh the guy over there will help you. But no one did. The staff had No idea how to run a security check or handle paople. There was No working wifi! There was no tvs in the seats, only the old style in the aisle. The staff told me the plan was going to retire at the end of the month. The food was more for animals then for humans! We got updates by txt 10 mins before the staff updated the gate on our flight out from SFO. I have traveled all over the world with a lot of airlines and Never had such a poor service, but what is it to expect. It was United after all!"

Cons: "The complimentary headset breaks easily. Tray table was broken and they can't fix it. Very small bathrooms, knees almost touch the door when sitting down. Food selection for dinner ran out quickly, resulting in only 2 choices and one is hot spicy, so basically only one choice. All beverages are given out in small cups, even water is given out in small cups increments (finish in one gulp), they don't even give out small bottles of water. No complimentary packet (eye shades, socks etc.) , not even a barf bag for collecting trash."

Pros: "The whole flight was great quick boarding, lots of leg room, good entertainment, a USB charge port, good lighting, and the crew was very nice and helpful. I enjoyed the flight and would like to fly Virgin Atlantic more. Finally, you are the 3rd best flight, I have ever take, and the 2nd best airline I've been on. Flew Business Class on Swiss Air once to Geneva (#1) and all the flights I have had with Porter Air are comparable to your airline, but the free cookies and beverages at Porter's terminal in Toronto wonderful."
Cons: "A couple things went wrong on this trip, my checked luggage got misplaced for a day, and a nice women in baggage claim told me what was happening and a nice man handled my claim and my bag has now been returned to me. The bigger thing is my flight bas delayed taking off by 3 hours. Let me start that I would rather have a part replaced on the runway then not, safety is paramount. The fact is my flight took off 3 hours late from London (VS11), and got to my destination (BOS) 2.5 hours late. Kudos to the flight crew for getting me to my destination faster by gaining a little time. Plus, since BOSTON was my final destination it was all fine this time. But if I had had to get home to the elder person I take care of or my teenager it would been a problem. Again, I'm annoyed, but I do understand the reasons and they are valid and preferred. I have heard that airlines to keep their flight rating high, wait for planes to leave the gate on time and then do repairs on the tarmac. If this is still a SOP for airlines you should change the way the statistics are collected and figure out a way of not perpetuating this type of disincentive. This is just hypothesis on my part, and my whole trip had little negatives."

After calling the helpline I was informed that it is impossible to change the seat after checking in until I am at the airport. No other airline has such an obscure, in efficient rule. Virgin takes pride in being a step above their competition - I didn't see it. I have flown international on Delta, American Airlines, British Airlines, United, and others and any difference in the experience was negligible."

Cons: "The seats!!!! Omg I got bed sores. Not really but they have got to be the most uncomfortable things I have ever sat in. For a European flight from Uk they'd be fine. But for 9 hours...not good. The short hop down from ATL to MCO after was a blessed relief. Virgin, you have got to think a little more about your passengers asses. Also, having flown with just about every major transatlantic operator, including previous trips with Virgin, the knee room was not good. If you stretched out under the seat in front you were ok but draw your knees up... I wore short trousers for comfort and have sore points on my knees where they rubbed against the material of the chair in front."

We went straight to security and immediately to the boarding gate but they had closed the gate and would not let us board, even though there was 15 minutes before the flight was due to leave. We were refused a refund and had to move flights to another airport 2 hours away and then had a 5 hour delay. We lost our car reservation as we would arrive too late to collect, we also couldn't check in to our hotel as planned as the hotel only allow check in until 11pm; we would have got there at 1am, so then had to book another hotel for the night. Airport staff at Lufthansa told us they could not help and told us to go away!"

My left shoulder and arm and left hip started hurting - couldn't sleep - took 2 days to get rid of the numbness in my arm. I asked to move, and it became obvious that there were many empty seats in the next section behind. I moved, and my comfort improved. Why was I given such a posture killer - especially on such a very long flight with seats to spare?"

We also had to straighten up the seats during meals because it was so bad for the person behind. 2. Boarding is a bit disorganized. Perhaps try splitting the boarding process into zones so it isn't a mad house free for all after the initial boarders. 3. On my flight to Frankfurt, the plane was half empty, yet my seat was changed from row 8 where I would have had almost no one near me back to row 23 where they had cramped all the passesngers into one area of the plane. This was done without request or explanation."

Flight attendants were very nice and professional. I gave the food 5 stars based on other airline food, I'm not expecting restaurant quality at 37,000'. Seats ,as I have come to expect from Lufthansa , were cramped laterally ,although i was pleasantly surprised with how much they reclined, given my low expectations. Main dish in the Food service was served hot but were quite minimal in taste/quantity & variety comapred to other inter-continental providers. I was feeling hungry most of the flight and couldnt sleep as well."

LHR-VIE was late; we ran and arrived in time catch VIE-KSC before it left, but Austrian Air would not allow us to board, despite that the other part of our travel party was already on the plane and alerted both gate staff and on-board staff we were coming and wee had to play a show that night with Arch Enemy. We had to wait 10 hours in VIE & given €12 for food. AA cited "rotational issues". Shockingly, Austrian Air delayed the 2nd flight by another hour "to wait for someone". We had to cancel the show. Really angry"

Because it is so common (formally standardized) for airlines to provide food on longer flights, many travellers assume their WestJet flight will the same and arrive unprepared. I normally love WestJet for their customer service, but these flight attendants talked down to customers with legitimate questions. I am choosing another airline for my next international flight, although reluctantly so - I hope to see some changes from WestJet for a more comfortable flight."

West Jet also put together a special team in Toronto to rebook passengers with connecting flights to later flights. This meant they had a new boarding pass ready and waiting for me by the time I got to Toronto, so the disruption was minimized."

I really recommending you looking for other airline companies for any flight that is not short haul. WestJet's slogan is an airline company with owner that care... Whatever the hell that means. Cons: "Flying out on December 24, the airline kept us at the airport for 6 (including 2 hours on the plane) hours before cancelling the flight because they could not get water pressure to the washrooms. We were supposed to leave for London (LHR) at 8:35pm and were notified of the cancellation at approx 2am on December 25. The only other flight that would be available would be on December 25 at the same time the 24th flight was supposed to leave. The service desk was not taking any requests for finding or re-booking flights, we were supposed to call their support number at 7am on the following day. We were offered cab fare accommodation from and back to the airport. They offered hotel stay which I passed on. They provided $60 of airport food that could only be used at certain restaurants, not compatible to purchase chips or drinks (non-alcoholic) from other stores. The coupons as compared to Air Canada, which are valid for a year were only valid for 24 hours. In the end the only "monetary" compensation I got from WestJet was 250 westjet dollars that expire in 12 months."

The crew was very nice and very friendly. The food was decent, they came around for drinks 3 times and twice for snacks (you have an option of pretzel sticks or biscuits and they're both pretty good - I'm partial to the biscuits. Not gonna lie, I was able to ask them for both a couple times, and they obliged."

My girlfriend asked for wine to go with our meals, which we were charged for at an additional cost. The wine arrived an hour and a half after our meals arrived. Later in the flight, a stewardess dropped off a Turkey croissant sandwich on my tray table, waking me up for the second time that trip. I called the stewardess back and explained that I hadn't ordered a Turkey sandwich. She explained that a sandwich came as part of the meal I ordered. I stated that I would be happy to receive a sandwich, but that the Turkey did not correspond to the vegetarian option I had specified. She proceeded to take the sandwich away, and did not return for the remainder of the flight. I have issues every time I fly with WestJet; poor performance, service, and customer relations. I've travelled on 7 different air carriers in the last 28 days, and WestJet is by far the worst. I paid €19 for a flight from Munich to Brussels from a WestJet competitor, received excellent customer service from smiling stewardesses, complimentary Beer and Wine, and even chocolate and a snack. I paid over €500 to fly with WestJet, and received nothing but a resurgent sour taste in my mouth. I've given second, third, and fourth chances with WestJet but I believe they have lost my business forever at this point. Truly disappointing to say the least."

We would have gladly paid the discounted rate for the bag, but no on was willing to help us with that, so we got soaked for $77 and were told to take our concerns to Iceland air customer service."

Cons: "The cabin was way over heated and the boarding process was unnecessarily long and arduous. The flight was extremely turbulent after the captain guaranteed good weather."

Pros: "The entertainment was great. It made my 8 hour flight bearable as I had something to watch/listen to."
Cons: "I must have had some bad luck because I was sitting next to an Icelandic man who was incredibly chatty and intoxicated. I kept wondering when the flight would cut off his consumption because throughout the entire 8 hour flight, he ordered drink after constant drink. Two wine bottles and countless vodkas. The amount of his drinking added to his rude behavior and he spoke very ignorantly and blatantly rude about my home country. I was discouraged when no staff member cut him off or asked him to behave respectfully. It was a very uncomfortable flight."

Pros: "Enough entertainment. Quick flight. Water included."
Cons: "Terrible boarding process. No one knew where to line up or what was going on. Everyone was just standing in a line around the gate. Boarding was delayed by 20 minutes. Not one person in the crew was able to tell us why we were delayed or even where to stand. Seats were uncomfortable. Blankets were unavailable going to SEA, but available when going to KEF."

Pros: "Friendly and professional crew. Good choice of entertainment, but not so good screen on the monitor."
Cons: "Unfortunately airline lost my luggage. Hopefully it will arrive few days later."

Pros: "The entertainment screen is very good and offers lots of choices, especially important on a long flight."
Cons: "The boarding process was something I've never encountered, and I've been flying for many years.. It was a cold rainy afternoon and all passengers were told to get on a bus out on the tarmac. We walked out through gale force winds to get to the bus. There were approximately 100 people on the buses. There were no seats bus and we all stood jammed together for at least half and hour, not knowing why or how long we would be there. An elderly man standing behind me said he thought he was going to have heart attack. The windows were all steamed up but someone finally opened one to let in some air. Even when we finally all got settled in the plane for the flight, there was no explanation, compensation or apology for the crazy bus caper. I will never fly Icelandic Air again."

Pros: "Liked that it was a direct flight, and thus was convenient. Decent seats and nice to have aisle seat."
Cons: "1)In flight food--No included food or alcohol on an 8 hour international flight?? In all of my travels, I have NEVER seen this. Seems cheap. Didn't even include peanuts or pretzels!! Glad we brought our own food onto flight, after having learned the hard way on way over to Europe from Seattle. Over $15 for a sandwich?? Absurd 2)Coming back from Iceland to Seattle, I saw many open seats in the Exit row, and the stewardesses refused to allow anyone to sit there, including a kind elderly couple whose husband was randomly selected to go through an hour-long stressful security check (despite being enrolled in the Global Entry program)."

Pros: "The blankets were warm and he entertainment had a good selection."
Cons: "No free food on a 7.5 hour flight.... and the food options were so meh. I bought this measly little salad for 13€ both ways and was still starving but kind of opposed to spending more on what was essentially a lean-cuisine with the Iceland logo. For reference, a 10 year old ate 3 of the in-flight meals (so about 40€ worth. That's how small these things were). Overall decent flight but I saw no difference in service or amenities on this transatlantic flight compared to any domestic flight."

Cons: "No room for our carry on, because other passengers were allowed to bring on over-sized bags and multiples. No order to boarding, just first come first served. 2 out of 3 USB ports in our row were broken."

Cons: "The boarding process was very poor. There were at least 4 US-bound international flights crammed into a tiny corner of the airport, all trying to board simultaneously (Denver, Chicago, Boston, Seattle). There were hundreds (maybe a thousand) of people standing shoulder to shoulder trying to get to their gate. There were few, if any, overhead announcements to inform passengers of the boarding status. There was no organization to the boarding process. We didn't board by group, zone or row, so it was a free-for-all on the plane. This led to very long boarding times. I think the boarding situation was actually dangerous. If there had been a fire or an emergency in that boarding area, there's no way those several-hundred passengers would be able to exit the area safely."

Pros: "The flight was held to allow the connection from Paris."
Cons: "The seats were uncomfortable and cramped. We had no time to purchase food in the airport. The menu for purchase on the plane had few items to select. It was a very long 7 hour flight."

Cons: "No meals served even though it's a cross-Atlantic flight. I paid 10 euros for some wine and cheese. Did not like the inability to select our seats in advance."

Cons: "The flight was delayed by 1.5 hours, there was little communication about the flight at the Reykjavik airport, the Reykjavik airport was packed with people (they put all the flights leaving at the same time in one section of the airport), and the flight attendants came through two times on a 7.5 hour flight to offer food and beverages. They should offer passengers more water to keep them hydrated on flights!"

Pros: "Decent airline ( you never hear of problems or disasters with them) and good pricing. Flight attendants professional and polite. Enough legroom. Loved the "Northern Lights" colored light display on the ceiling before takeoff! Good viewing choices at seats but headphones should be free."
Cons: "Keplavik airport MUCH too crowded!! Very poorly planned airport with hundreds of people squeezed into a small hallway for 5-6 gates -- really dangerous! A quick evacuation for any reason would have been impossible and there would be many many injuries. Not nearly enough seats for people waiting and this is a huge problem too. No free snacks of any kind on flights not good. Jetways very slow to attach to planes. International flights not near building -- why not? No water fountains. Not enough signs for people disembarking and they had to push through dense crowds--this did not make them happy. This new airport needs a serious redesign or much better in and out flights scheduling!! Dangerously overcrowded!"
