Plenty of leg room

In Japan, I arrived at 5:30am for designated check in and there was only one person conducting check ins. She took approximately 15 minutes per person because she scrutinized everyone's passport beyond just the regular review. She asked when my student visa was up although the date was printed and if I had a resident ID and my student card to prove it. What really got me is that my carryon was 7 kilos, the designated limit, BUT then she made me weigh my PURSE. Since my purse was an extra kilo, I had pay 40 USD to check a 7 kilo bag.

I pre-paid for baggage online but they charge by kilograms so I had to guess. I paid 3800 JPY for 20 kg. I was over by 13 kg, for which they charged me 22,500 JPY. My whole flight with an extra leg room seat plus the pre-paid baggage was only 17k JPY . My one bag that was 10kg cost me $200, which was more than it cost for me to fly. RIP OFF! I will be fighting the charge with my credit card.

The policy of carry-on luggage is misleading. You're only allowed 10kg or less for combined two items. Charged me 6,000 yen ($53 USD) to bring my carry-on suitcase even though it met the 3 tier requirements so I should have only been charged 4,000 yen. Tacked on an additional 2,000 yen for "security" fee. This is double what the average & premium airlines charge for the 1st piece of carry on luggage as my backpack is always considered free....also the flight crew and pilots were late.

You could really feel the penny pinching. Baggage fees are ridiculous. And I had to wait by thr check-in kiosks for 10 minutes for: "in case something is wrong with the baggage". Slow to check tickets at boarding. Plane was parked in the most remote part of the airport. Long bus ride, and long time to board. Seats are very uncomfortable. Overall, worst experience with a Low Cost Carrier I have had, for no benefit in ticket cost. Avoiding this airline in the future.

Flight attendants were good at keeping the cabin tidy.

Not impressed with JetStar. It's a far cry from the service you get on JAL. Due to overly strict baggage weight limit checks at the check-in counter, the queue for check-in was excessively long. While the queue was only for the passengers heading to the same destination of the flight, the delay of boarding caused by weighing all the bags for each customer, and then forcing people to abandon personal property to shed weight, repack and reweigh bags, meant the departure of the aircraft was delayed. No one missed the flight, but it was delayed. Also no one got to have any leisure time in the airport terminal as nearly every customer was struggling to abandon excess baggage weight, then had to scramble through security to get to the gate.Dumping weight created a lot of waste of perfectly good things people were prevented from taking on the flight, and had no chance to send by post. It also generated a lot of extra baggage fees for the airline purporting to operate a budget airline option for customers. If you go over the weight limit you are hit with high over baggage fees, voila, profit for them and lower fares for some. On board: There is very limited overhead cabin storage, no pocket in front of you for storage and zero in-flight entertainment offered. Seat backs are so thin, that you can feel anyone behind you should their knees press on your seat back. Beverage service was sporadic. It was started, stopped, then rows of customers got skipped, and any food that was pre-ordered was delivered as soon as the plane was airborne but drinks were not ready at the time of the meal service. Very scattered service overall. Announcements were poor and not clear or loud enough. Japanese announcements were fully detailed while Mandarin were not precise, and English were very limited or didn't happen at all. Not good on an international flight with many different language needs.

I got a $45 excess weight charge for my carry on, but half the plane was empty so it really didn't even matter. Add that to the fact that they don't give anything for free, not even water. So I was thirsty as hell for five hours between Tokyo and Hong Kong. Half the plane was empty yet they said if you tried to move seats they would charge you for it. K jetstar Japan, you suck!

The plane was new and immaculate. We took off on time and arrived a little earlier than scheduled. The staff was generally courteous.

There was no boarding announcement that we heard. We just looked up across the gate area and realized people were getting on the plane. My boyfriend and I were never offered food or a beverage even though everyone around us was. Did they think we wouldn't understand? It was a 4+ hour flight and even a water would have been appreciated.

General no frills airline. Most aspects were as expected.

The seat pitch was extremely small... as in the smallest I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't even get my legs to fit behind the seat. I've flown across continents in every conceivable airline from business class to Ryan Air and this was by far the most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat in. I'm 6'2 by the way, so I am tall, but c'mon.

Price was good. Crew very nice and pleasant, they worked hard and efficiently, flight was on time.

Terminal 2: Terminal 2 for budget airlines in Tokyo was a very dismal place, was worn out, dinghy, and old, no seats for passengers, was worse than a third world terminal. Terminal space was cramped and check in lines were cramped together and signs confusing, difficult to make out which line was for which airline or flight, could easily be in the wrong line for wrong flight/airline! There were few stores, only one cafe with limited selection of food and drinks. Passengers had to board planes by walking from boarding gate to plane in the open air and climb up plane staircase like back in ancient days or in quaint backward country. Elevators going down to the boarding gates were poorly marked and confusing and no signs at the gate indicating the flight to be boarded. In addition, the boarding gates are segregated and do not connect and passengers at the wrong gate cannot easily get from one gate to the next! All in all a very unpleasant place and experience. While the airport limousine bus did stop at terminal 2, it was the very last stop and took extra time to get there as terminal 2 seemed to be located in middle of nowhere at Narita. Plane and flight: As expected in a no frills budget airline, food was mediocre, fee was charged for everything. However this was a five hour flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong and seats on plane were packed very very close together, very difficult to get in and out of seat - had to be an acrobat or contortionist to get in and out, Even on a no frills budget airline, such closely packed seats for a long flight is unacceptable. Maybe OK for a one to two hour flight but not acceptable for flight over 3 hours. Have had better experience on other no frills budget airlines. such as Air Asia, Tiger Air. Will definitely avoid Vanilla Air whenever possible.

Mediocre 2.6

Purchased early baggage check allowance, but VERY limited carry-on baggage allowance resulted in 2 of us paying over 13,000 yen to check carry-ons. Negated any savings from booking a budget airline. Plane seats were horrendous for posture - shape encourages slouching and absolutely no lumbar support. Very uncomfortable.

The crews are very professional. The flight is on time

Foods are not included for a 4 hours flight.

Excellent 8.0

our flight was delayed (from NRT to HKG) because of the typhoon and i appreciate the text that I received saying it was (i proceeded to double check and it was surely delayed) i think it would have been better if they sent the email at the same time as the text. other than that, it was a good flight; i fell asleep so i didnt experience much of the service

had to purchase beverages/food on flight. (didnt expect much because the flight was cheap)

Nothing

I got a $45 excess weight charge for my carry on, but half the plane was empty so it really didn't even matter. Add that to the fact that they don't give anything for free, not even water. So I was thirsty as hell for five hours between Tokyo and Hong Kong. Half the plane was empty yet they said if you tried to move seats they would charge you for it. K jetstar Japan, you suck!

Prices are per person, are for e–tickets and include all taxes & fees in GBP.

We attempt to get accurate prices, however, prices are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tons of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
