FAQs - booking Wales flights

  • I’m flexible with my departure city. Which English airport offers the most direct flights to Wales?

If you are looking for a direct flight to Wales from England, Newcastle International Airport (NCL) is the best option. If you’d prefer an airport with more flight options and good public transportation links, select flights to Wales from London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted or Luton, or from Manchester Airport (MAN) or Birmingham Airport (BHX). Keep in mind that flying out of these airports requires at least one stopover.

  • I’m booking a flight to Wales from London. Which airport should I depart from?

Regardless of which London airport you’re flying out of, a flight to Wales will usually involve a stopover in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Occasionally, some flights to Wales might also have a stopover in Belfast City Airport. If you prefer less busy airports when flying, you might like to choose a flight that departs from London City (LCY) or London Southend Airport (SEN) and has a stopover in Glasgow.

  • I’m travelling to Swansea. Which airport should I choose?

Although Swansea does have an airport, it’s not served by commercial flights. The closest airport in Wales to be served by commercial flights is Cardiff Airport (40 mi). Alternatively, if you're looking for a nearby airport with more options when it comes to airlines and flights, you can search for flights that land in the English city of Bristol, and drive (2h 10min) or take public transportation (2h 30min) from the airport to Swansea.

  • Which airport in Scotland is the best to book a direct flight to Wales from?

If you value direct flights, you can choose between Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow International Airport. Of the two, Glasgow is the least busy airport, but Edinburgh is the most centrally located. Aberdeen Airport (ABZ) can be considered as a third alternative, but it’s not served by direct flights to Wales, which means you’d have to factor in a stopover in one of the other Scottish airports or elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly from the United Kingdom to Wales with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from the United Kingdom to Wales?

Everything! Not sure if there's really anything that could make it any better

Very quick trip from Southampton to Edinburgh Arrival a long way from baggage and up 3flights of stairs no lifts or escalators

Klm start boarding while somw air issue in the plan

The service was great. However the lounge only gets passing grade

I appreciate that KLM was proactive in informing me of the 2 hour delay which enabled me to replan my travel. It was a bit stressful not knowing whether my connection from Montreal to Ottawa was happening. But the ground and air crew did a good job at comforting and assuring me.

Cabin crew professional, polite and friendly, boarding was seemless, but come on KLM surely you can do better than a pack of cheesy biscuits as an inflight snack

Cabin crew were excellent, very proffesional, polite and friendly, in flight snack was underwhelming, a packet of cheese biscuits, im sure KLM could run to a sandwich!

Legroom not all it could be, especially when the seat in front is reclined. Otherwise it was good, food and beverage were nice.

This fight left ahead of time which meant it arrived early which was great. Staff were very professional, but as with all these Short hop Flights the food was a disappointing snack There was no entertainment on this flight, but I did not expect any

They only had vegetarian food left on the flight which I wasn’t happy about. I didn’t get any food to eat at all.

Great boarding, great short flight but no entertainment whatsoever. It was supposed to have wifi but that did not work.

Transfer at CDG to connecting KLM flight to Amsterdam was a NIGHTMARE. LONG WALKWAYS, NO MOVING WALKWAYS, POOR signage, Have to take a train & No staff visible to help navigate the maze. AVOID TRANSFER AT CDG AT ALL COST.

I would definitely use a Linus again, the price was right, the service is excellent. No delays. Wish I had a direct flight from my hometown Detroit.

At check-in the unmanned machines said QR code was invalid so had to queue for over an hour to check in bags

I dont fly them much anymore. Other carries offere better pricing and better seating options

Seats weren't very comfortable for a long haul flight but the service made up for it.

The Glasgow to Dublin route was very efficiently boarded, flight and landing and disembarkation were all super smooth. Dublin to JFK flight I was very pleasantly surprised overall. This was my first time on Aer Lingus and having already come off the short regional flight I was curious to know how the international flight would go. Aircraft was solid, entertainment options were better than expected, flight crew were experienced and operated like clockwork. Main entree left a little something to be desired but the snack was very tasty. Boarding and disembarkation again very smooth and pilots got us in earlier than expected. Would definitely fly again

Unfortunately the flight was delayed for 50 min. Just as we were about to board so that was a drag. The boarding was average. The bag check in process was new to us and efficient. And the flight itself was smooth- basically no turbulence.

I liked how they looked after couples by providing a row of 4 seats if available.

It was ok not that much because I always travel with Emirates airlines, Etihad, airlines, Qatar airlines compare to them food and comfortable was too low . Staff was good . Helpful

I believe it was short flight in plane I understand not that much compared to other airlines but weighting for checkin was too long need extra person for checkin or Atleast someone to let the customer knows don’t worry someone will be here shortly.

Seats were alarming close to the row in front of you. I didn’t do the measurements online, which I’m sure they’re available, but it seemed much tighter than other planes, but the airplane itself was well maintained and looked fairly new. My only complaint on the staff was that we’re on an international flight. Normally they give you wine with dinner and the flight attendant decided to pull some strict restrictions and wouldn’t give more than one glass of wine per person, and you could not share with your spouse, which seemed ridiculous when we have four people on the plane with us and only one person ordered wine asked for a second one and she said oh absolutely not. It’s only one per person Which on a transcontinental usually is not the case. They’re very attentive on making sure everyone is as comfortable as possible.

We accidentally purchased twice the bags we needed. Our fault, but the ticket was not clear to us, and it asked us to purchase bags at checkin. When we notified them to get credit back at the airport, they said to contact customer service. We flew the flight and then contracted customer service. They said no credits after the flight has flown. Not customer service oriented at all. They know we didn’t check that many bags and kept our money for a service they did not provide. Be aware and very careful of what you are purchasing from them because they will not make it right if there is an error.

sadly in Basel & Naples- no jetway we had to climb up and down stairs with our max size carry-on luggage, which was not fun!!!

This was our first time using them. I gave okay ratings for food and entertainment because it was minimal or not provided so I couldn't judge, but much better than most budget carriers we have ever used.

We were charged a ridiculous amount for a name spelling error on ticket which I would’ve corrected if I received pre-check info more than 1/2hr before flight. Then we were told at ticket counter that our bags were fine for boarding but then we’re charged another ridiculous amount to take in our luggage despite being told differently. Flight itself was great. Charges were unfair.

Apart from an email about re configuring passenger seating less than 24hrs before flying it was all good.

There were a lot (4 I think) of EasyJet flights leaving Agadir, we arrived two and a half ours before our flight. Very slow to get through the booking in, passport control and security!! We had booked in on line but had to Queue with others who had not to drop our bags off!,

We boarded and then sat on the tarmac for an hour….probably not E Jets fault. But the gentleman that checked us in and took our luggage was exceptionally friendly and calming for early morning/ confused passengers. As always, it’s the people that make or break an experience, right?

I was hesitant to book with a low cost airline due to previous experience but Easy Jet surpassed my expectations. I would definitely book a flight with them again! Seemless booking, upfront about baggage fees, professional, and helpful staff.

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Usual issues with flight delay. Perennial problem of travel by plane.

Straight forward checking as long as you have completed every single detail online, prior to checking day. Efficient boarding, seating is ok for a two hour flight. Fulfilledour travel requirements from Manchester to Marseille.

Good but both flights were delayed by nearly one hour making boarding tedious. We had to wait with no information

I couldn’t understand the aircraft tannoy announcements I was in seat 20C - nobody in our row could either. Speakers a bit too quiet plus messages read out too fast. Otherwise excellent flight. (Flight delayed by 50 mins)

Unnecessarily delayed and remarkably inefficient boarding contributed to a significantly delayed departure. Seats/legroom astonishingly uncomfortable even by Ryanair standards (minimal legroom plus reinforced plastic seat backs ensure you get punched hard in the knees every time the person in front moves, and as a 6-foot passenger I had nowhere else to put my legs. Upon late arrival at the gate in Luton we were kept waiting another 20 minutes before being allowed off the plane. Both Easyjet and Wizzair are currently a better bet.

I bought my flight, insurance etc early and paid over £200. But had i waited until closer the time the price was much cheaper, i appreciate that it could've been more expensive but it wasn't. A better discount for booking early would be better than your current one

Awful as usual the air stewardess loved her own voice and would not stop talking on coms for 2hrs please please please shut up I can’t hear my headphones and don’t want to buy juty free

Big delay on run way not much explanation why, missed a important meeting in Dublin, maybe if they did nt persist measuring everyone bag over 2 cm we would have got off on time.

ontime and super quick boarding and disembarking. I made it in 6 min from airplane through passport control to the train platformin Cologne. Amazingly quick airport.

The lady at the boarding gate was so rude. She was challenging people being in priority and looking them up and down as if they weren’t dressed for first class. This was Ryan air priority. We all sit in the same seats. She loudly called out to embarrass a man who she believed had cheated and got in the priority line. He had a valid priority ticket and even worked for Ryanair. Also challenging visas insisting people download them until they proved on the government website it wasn’t required to print. The Ryanair employee who was challenged said she is always like this. She also pulled people from regular boarding as they were fashionably dressed and upgraded them to priority and changed their seats. That was comical. I think she felt she should be working for Emirates first class, although they would t have stood for her rude behaviour

On time boarding, on time departure and early arrival. As it should be. Yes, the comfort and benefits are very poor, but therefore the ticket is 6 times cheaper than with a flag carrier. So I am not complaining about it. You get what you pay for.
