FAQs - booking Wales flights

  • I’m flexible with my departure city. Which English airport offers the most direct flights to Wales?

If you are looking for a direct flight to Wales from England, Newcastle International Airport (NCL) is the best option. If you’d prefer an airport with more flight options and good public transportation links, select flights to Wales from London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted or Luton, or from Manchester Airport (MAN) or Birmingham Airport (BHX). Keep in mind that flying out of these airports requires at least one stopover.

  • I’m booking a flight to Wales from London. Which airport should I depart from?

Regardless of which London airport you’re flying out of, a flight to Wales will usually involve a stopover in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Occasionally, some flights to Wales might also have a stopover in Belfast City Airport. If you prefer less busy airports when flying, you might like to choose a flight that departs from London City (LCY) or London Southend Airport (SEN) and has a stopover in Glasgow.

  • I’m travelling to Swansea. Which airport should I choose?

Although Swansea does have an airport, it’s not served by commercial flights. The closest airport in Wales to be served by commercial flights is Cardiff Airport (40 mi). Alternatively, if you're looking for a nearby airport with more options when it comes to airlines and flights, you can search for flights that land in the English city of Bristol, and drive (2h 10min) or take public transportation (2h 30min) from the airport to Swansea.

  • Which airport in Scotland is the best to book a direct flight to Wales from?

If you value direct flights, you can choose between Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow International Airport. Of the two, Glasgow is the least busy airport, but Edinburgh is the most centrally located. Aberdeen Airport (ABZ) can be considered as a third alternative, but it’s not served by direct flights to Wales, which means you’d have to factor in a stopover in one of the other Scottish airports or elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from the United Kingdom to Wales?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from the United Kingdom to Wales.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from the United Kingdom to Wales?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight from the United Kingdom to Wales is likely to change within 7 days, so travellers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from the United Kingdom to Wales?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly from the United Kingdom to Wales with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from the United Kingdom to Wales?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying from the United Kingdom to Wales up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

  • What is the cheapest day to fly to Wales?

Based on KAYAK data, the cheapest day to fly to Wales is Wednesday when return tickets can be as cheap as £118. On the other hand, the most expensive day to fly is Sunday, when return prices are £198 on average.

Everything was fantastic. My trip was short and sweet. No problems. Just remember. My paid checked in was i belive 2 to 3 lbs overweight. I believe I could have been given a discretionary pass rather than paying or unpacking. Especially as flight was probably half full only. Thank you

I really enjoyed the good hot tea and biscuits. I loved the tartan plaid head-rests on each seat and the fact that there were all different. The crew’s uniforms are very sharp looking, too.

I booked this flight thru Kayak and then had to cancel within 24 hours of booking. They only refunded part of the fare, saying that was the usual practice. I was not pleased.

Everything! Not sure if there's really anything that could make it any better

Very quick trip from Southampton to Edinburgh Arrival a long way from baggage and up 3flights of stairs no lifts or escalators

I’m grateful for the KLM Air France shuttle bus service to Ottawa. However due to construction and other issues related to the chaotic Uber pickup system at YUL, it’s a challenge to find the Kelios bus service to Ottawa. The signs are not clear or even available. No staff to guide passengers. It’s a stressful experience.

Flight was on time, staff are friendly and helpful onboard.

Delay on my previous leg, had to run to catch my flight. But that happens. Overall ok.

Delay and had to run between flight to get my connection due to this delay but besides that the overall experience was ok. I arrived with just an hour of delay.

Flight was ok but lack of communication cost me to literally beg to be put on another flight as connecting flight had departed

They forgot to serve food and the crew was very unfriendly. Never experienced such a bad KLM flight. Usually fly from Toronto. New York was different.

Couldn’t get boarding pass in SLC even with help from a redcoat, so had to find a desk in AMS to get boarding pass. Technical problems so not sure why. Very inconvenient. The KLM app is not as user friendly as most apps. Also had to wait almost an hour on the tarmac for a fuel truck, which caused us to miss a connecting bus in LUX.

The immigration hall in Amsterdam was understaffed, so passport checking was slower than it should be for a major airport. They need to get the automatic readers up and running for non EU passport holders. Waiting in line after a long flight feels a bit abusive.

Ad experience - been flying many years with them but they are losing out to other carriers with their service and bagage / seating policy. My 2 12-yo kids were not placed with the parent. Absurdity.

Short flight so it was okay. Nice crew, all very pleasant and professional. We were near the back in row 27 so just as we got our drinks, we started our descent so had to drink very quickly!

Like getting a bus. No great luxury but will get you there

Got us to destination alive, albeit a bit late. Luggage was left behind. No live tracking app available (available on some other airlines). Supposedly going to be delivered in next couple of days.

The connection time between the regional flight (from Newcastle) to an international flight (to The States) was too short. To require as second security scan and customs clearance within an hour and 20 mins is not enough time to make the actual connection. We had a final boarding call the minute we walked out of US customs and had to sprint (with two small children) through 20 gates to make it in time before the door closed. The concept is great in theory to clear customs before leaving Europe, but the timing needs to be adjusted. We travel abroad frequently and won’t be using this route again. Thanks.

NOTE. Aer Lingus does not accept American Express. I was denied boarding because I could not pay the fee for my oversized bag. I did not have another credit or debit card. Moreover, at CDG, I needed to check my bag at one location, go to another location to check my oversized bag and a THIRD location to pay for my oversized bag. Hence, once I was denied boarding, my bags were already en route to the plane. To retrieve them I needed to go to a FOURTH location in another part of the terminal. Last, Aer Lingus will not reimburse me for any portion of my ticket. I lost $1000 bc Aer Lingus doesn’t accept American Express at the CDG counter even though I paid for my ticket through the Kayak link with Amex. Kayak should remedy this situation if they want to continue to partner with Aer Lingus.

The biking process was confusing and I was called for a seat assignment from I number I repeatedly though was spam, but the flight itself was great

I think the extra charges for seating with no added advantage and the added charges for baggage are excessive compared to other airlines.

I had zero issues with the flight. I did have issues with the staff at the airport. We missed out flight due to a delay with another airline. Talking to the staff and trying to get a new flight arranged was challenging. One guy was able to try to help us and got us on a new flight, but other staff was dismissive and clearly let us know it wasn’t their problem. All I kept thinking was… this is why air lingus has such a poor customer service reputation. I will be avoiding this airline in the future.

They specifically asked about my flight from bordeaux to Dublin, which was fine. A little lacking but for a 1 and a half hour flight - it was more than enough. I transferred at Dublin and went to Newark. And wow that flight was incredible.

I liked that I went thru customs in Dublin instead of having to do that in LA.

Excellent flight and crew. Boarding at Dublin Airport was a very difficult trying to find the right gate.

Delay in boarding with no explanation why. Stood for about 40 mins waiting to board

Great flight just took some time to board even when lining up early for the flight, even taking off took longer then expected.

Rubbish moved my seat don’t know why same seat configuration cost me extra so me and my wife could sit together now I know why no paper ticket so they can do this

Slow and delayed boarding, including standing outside 15m in -3 temperatures, Late take-off approx 45 mins Very slow bag delivery approx 45 min - no explanation

The flight boarded nice and early and this meant there was no sudden rush at the gate. The only down side was the cabin was very cold 🥶

Flying from Newquay was an absolute dream! Would 100% recommend flights from there!

It would have been better if I was not ill so I didn't go and I didn't come back and I could not transfer my tickets to a later date as Ryanair stop flying from Manchester at the end of October till next year

Take off was great but landing is always with a bump.

Flight was delayed by 1 hour 45 minutes. Aircraft was cramped, dirty and uncomfortable. Boarding staff more interested in charging you for oversize baggage than getting you on board. Overall not a pleasant experience.

Passengers next to me insisted I change seats so they could sit together. I had to frequently move so that when the sear belt sign was on I was in my proper seat! I was returning from helping my mum with my dad's things after his sudden death and didn't feel like arguing with the other passengers.

The plane was postponed for over 2.5 hours, which meant that all four of us missed the check in time for our ongoing trip to Melbourne. We had to buy new tickets for 4 people as we had to forfeit the ones we had. The cost was really unfair. i understand that it was snowing during the first leg of the plane for that morning. Surely the cost could have been shared by the airline and not all by us. I could have bought insurance - but you can see how much I travel. I will need to chose more trustworthy airlines.

The true is that travel from London to Faro on 11/12/2025 by BA was cancelled, so I did not go to Faro, so i did not board easy flight. The mediocre qualification to you was because even when i bought an insurance, i could not change date neither obtain reimbursement. It could be ideal if you do something in order for me not to lose the purchase Thank you

Queuing for quite a while despite using the "speedy boarding".

Would not advise EasyJet for a 5 hour flight…small plane and hence a lot of turbulence. No inflight entertainment so struggle to pass time in cramped seats. We also fell victim to extra charge for our cabin bags, although bag dimensions were ok, but the handle was rigid and slightly fell outside their testing cage!!….never again will we fly with this airline and be party to their scams for making money!

The food and so are to expensive and old . Crew whas not very friendly . Apparently some other passenger can just Push through the waiting people to board while almost punching me and a father with a child down the stairs. Its always something with easy jet . The seats of row 26 where lose . And for a guy of my size there is absolutely no leg room at all .

Nice to fly out of Orly smaller easier to navigate airport. Being able to receive boarding pass well in advance of trip was comforting to know all travel was in order.

Liked. The check-in was pretty quick as they had 5 desks working.

Generally a good experience except for boarding in Naples on the flight back to London. We were all standing around for at least 20 minutes maybe longer as there was no seating.

Seats, WC,sizes for today's generation adults, and if technical problems arise a complimentary coffee, water nice for waiting one hours, the rest is perfect (pilot and cabin crew)

Boarding was smooth and quick. Flight departed on time. Equally evacuation upon landing was from both the front door and the back doors. Bags were on the conveyor belts before I got there. Excellent service.
