Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "I wasn't on this flight. I wasn't able to cancel or refund it."
Pros: "Crew was very pleasant and helpful."
Cons: "The seats are very small, but that’s what you get for flying Ryan Air"
Cons: "Always seems to be delays while seating in cabin which is frustrating"
Cons: "Flight not being late"
Pros: "Friendliness of crew."
Pros: "Flying EI-DAR, this was Ryanair's sixth-oldest active aircraft at 15.3 years old. Despite this, it featured the new sky interior and was comfortable overall. Flight was quick (albeit at 10 minute late landing) and deboarding was not an issue."
Pros: "For once the flight took off on time!"
Cons: "Seating was passable for a short flight. Seat allocation was random especially as the booking confirmation was done at the same time. Presumably this is now intentional so as to encourage you to pay the extra fee?"
Pros: "Good experience standard seating on Ryanair you know what you will get, no surprises."
Cons: "On this particular flight there was little English spoken."
Cons: "Was late! 30 minutes!"
Pros: "Treated us with respect and very helpful when we missed our flight and had to be bumped on to the next flight."
Cons: "Wish we didn’t have to pay so much to change the tickets. Significantly ate out of our holiday money"
Pros: "The best thing with the flight was the seat, which is very mediocre."
Pros: "Flight was cheap and quick, absolutely nothing else to it. You fly Ryanair, you just go from A to B."
Cons: "Floor was an absolute mess! Fortunately it was just broken biscuits and not sick, but the mess wasn't appreciated."
Pros: "All great and ontime"
Cons: "All good no issues"
Pros: "Flight on time."
Cons: "Better way of boarding as priority boarding still involved a long wait and it was far from clear which line to stand in."
Pros: "Plane wasn’t fully booked so allowed for swift boarding and disembarking"
Cons: "The reintroduction of ‘quiet flights’, 2 years okay Ryanair has a big campaign, no announcements other than for safety before 0800 and after 2100. So people could rest on early morning and late night flights - this stoped some time ago. With no advertising.!"
Pros: "It all went smoothky"
Pros: "got me from point a to b without a connection or crash"
Cons: "Flight was delayed. Didn’t announce gate until 5 minutes before flight was scheduled to leave. Then changed gate. People ran in a frenzy. Finally boarded and pilot announced they lost our bags. Waited on plane for another hour. Flight left 2 hours 15 minutes after scheduled. Food and drinks on the flight are ridiculously expensive. Asked for a meal and said they were out of stock. Seats were incredibly uncomfortable and too upright. The airline didn’t update the status of the flight online so my ride waited at the airport for 2 hours. overall 0/5 stars will not fly again unless ABSOLUTELY necessary."
Pros: "Staffs are very helpful."
Cons: "Should get some drink at least some water."
Pros: "I took 1230 flight from stansted airport to Edinburgh. I carried a personal baggage with me on the plane then flight attendant took it away and told me I will get it back at the arrival belt. When I landed I couldn’t find mine. I had reported to the ground desk and they not helpful at all. So now I lost all of my travel documents and money. I feel so bad. This Tuesday I will fly back to Thailand and still don’t know how to redo my passport."
Pros: "All was good, no problems at either end. Flight was on time and we cleared Passport and Customs with ease. We had the correct size baggage, unlike a great number of passengers, and sailed through with ease. Well done Ryan Air we will be back."
Cons: "All good no complaints whatsover"
Cons: "Had to wait for plane to be ready outside the building- on the street just upfront of the plain"
Pros: "Upright seats give more legroom"
Cons: "Queue, queue, queue Hugely confused luggage allowances - unclear even on boarding pass - urgently need overhaul and clarification"
Pros: "Nothing at all, not now not ever, not with Ryanair"
Cons: "My flight was canceled and I had to book a different flight to Berlin. Ryanair will not compensate me for the additional costs that I have incurred. The airlines customer service is appalling at all levels - slow response, expensive phone lines, complicated websites to mislead you and incredibly rude staff. I would give them a worse rating if I could"
Cons: "Slowly boarding, gate is cold, no seats, plane was in late 1,5 hour."
Pros: "Flight to Budapest from Stansted airport took off on time and landed 40 minutes early. The flight home was on schedule and I had an aisle seat both ways, couldn't ask for more."
Cons: "Due to the high volume of passengers on the flight we had to put our luggage in the hold (for free) in both directions which caused a minor delay in our onward journey but nothing significant."
Pros: "Had a quiet flight."
Cons: "Staff neds to learn to smile."
Pros: "The price of the flight and convenient travel times kept making their flights more attractive. The flight itself was very nice and comparable to any other airline despite comments I had read about steep lift offs and advertisements blaring the whole time. None of that happened."
Cons: "Of course the price of the Ryanair flights is what lures you in., but just about EVERYTHING else after that is stressful with this airline. All their rules must be followed precisely or you'll pay through the nose. After painstaking finding the right sized roller bags and under seat sack and making sure I was well within the weight limit, they never measured or weighed either of them. I also saw plenty of carry-on luggage way bigger than mine come on board and go into the overhead bins just fine. Kind of pissed me off. The price to check bags is SO SO high, but with the limited weight you can take in the carry-on, you almost have to check a bag unless you're doing a short 3-5 day trip."
Pros: "Crew when asked was very helpful and polite. They were definitely working the entire flight to assist people."
Cons: "Crew took about the entire flight to handle the food and drinks, coming from both ends. This caused a block to the bathrooms and people waiting long periods and finally just stuffing in all over the place to get passed the carts. Expensive flight for us since we had to buy the same day. While most of the security attendants were great, I did have to wait a very long time to get a pat down I requested rather than go through the scanner (required to be in a separate room) that was 95% the same as the one they were giving everyone after they came through the scanner, with the only difference being a hand and belt line swipe and paperwork. I have had this same procedure done in three airports prior on this trip and all were more aggressive/thorough and did not require a separate room and extreme wait. Though again, all the female staff were great."
Pros: "Price is good"
Cons: "Called to gate only to then have to wait over an hour before boarding. No info given just stood there like lemons. Also they do their upmost to make you pay to sit next to each other! I know they are trying to make as much profit as poss but just annoying."
Pros: "I liked nothing about this flight."
Cons: "I didn't like the fact that I was never allowed to board this plane and I ended up having to book a hotel for a night and then fly out the next day on an Air Lingus flight. As I found out later, Ryanair did send me an email saying that I would need to print out my boarding pass early. However, I had already left the U.S. and never saw that email. Then when I arrived at the airport, I was told that I would have to go to customer service in order to obtain a boarding pass. Then the line was so long that I could never obtain a boarding pass in time. No one was willing to help me even though there were plenty of employees standing around doing nothing. So I ended up buying three Ryanair tickets that were worthless. I will never fly Ryanair again and I would recommend that no Americans ever fly on that airline."
Cons: "I paid extra for priority boarding and, though I was one of the first 20 passengers on board, I was not allowed to put my bag in the overheard compartment. I was told to put both my purse (not a tiny one, mind you) and my carry on bag under the seat. And, because I had an isle seat, the space was smaller than average. So I had to fly cramped up. Because I'm not an EU citizen, I had to queue up as if to check in luggage to have a stamp placed on my boarding pass. Then another queue to board the plane because they don't bother to call by row or group number like most airlines. The boarding was chaotic. The seats are very uncomfortable. They don't even give you one small cup of water. You have to pay 3 euros for a bottle of water that would cost you 1 elsewhere. Finally, the landing was very hard and shook everyone about."
Pros: "Even the departure was delay we arrive on time"
Cons: "Dirty seat and table. Crew member in charge treated passengers as foolish cattle."
Pros: "Check in online"
Cons: "Seat comfort was not good. No recline and no seat pocket. No frills I guess"
Cons: "Four hours late leaving Stansted because Ryanair ground crew were under staffed"
Pros: "Staff were friendly, and the flight was smooth, plane was clean."
Cons: "The flight was slightly delayed by the previous flight landing late. Obviously this happens, that's fine, but on landing at stanstead the bags from the hold were not released onto the baggage carousel for over an hour and a half after we landed. This is completely unacceptable and wasn't acknowledged by airport staff for over an hour, with no explanation given at any point."
Cons: "We stood in line for almost 40 minutes with no signs or help from anyone. Finally got to the desk and we were told we Needed to have boarding passes so we needed tonsee customer service. Stood in line for 30 minutes to have the customer service guy charge us to print out boarding passes and that we hadn't checked in. Then sent us back to check boarding passes only to find out we didn't pay for checked luggage. All in all, we arrived 2 hours early only to pay twice as much as our original tickets and barely make our flight. Do your selves a favor and pay the more expensive route, because the cheap tickets were not even remotely worth the hassle."
Pros: "Boarding was reasonably slick. Staff were very polite and helpful. Flight was on time."
Cons: "Disembarking was aWful. Flight was packed and the buses from landing site to airport entry were rammed. At least 6 passengers left standing outside the bus for a good 10 minutes with indecisive ground crew pacing, staring and disappearing with no solution until a senior member arrived and squeezed people into the driver's cabin. Seat space is pretty tight. Not the most comfortable. Not a fan of trekking to Stanstead but it was earliest flight so no option but Ryanair"
Cons: "4hr delay"
Cons: "The plane seemed incredibly old, like nothing I've seen before. They wanted to charge us 50 pounds to check in our luggage at the airport. I never received an email about needing to check in to the flight online. Luckily we arrived early enough to the airport for the customer service desk to let us know we only had 20 minutes to check in on our mobile devices. The landing of the plane was also the worst I have ever experienced. Everything was so unorganized and uncomfortable about this flight and airline. NEVER traveling with Ryanair and will recommend to all friends and family to avoid Ryanair."
Cons: "I did not like not knowing which gate was being used until 45 minutes prior to boarding. People who are regulars were able to queue up before those of us who did not know where we were heading. The baggage information is confusing; you can not be sure whether or not your bag will get on without a charge, but then when you get to the airport, the charge is greater than it would have been if you had more consisten info to start."
Pros: "The flight was on time leaving and arriving"
Cons: "Ryanair has strict baggage limits on size and weight. Pity they don't enforce these limits some of the bags brought on as cabin baggage exceeded the limits in both respects by a long way. This is annoying when I went to lengths to meet the weight and size limit. Because of this lack of enforcement boarding and leaving the aircraft was total chaos."
Cons: "I was told "if you wanted to take a cabin bag in the cabin, then you should have flown with British Airways""
Cons: "Charged us 90 pounds extra because we didn't have access to the internet to check in the day prior. This is a very discriminating practice against those who can not afford to be on the internet. It should not be allowed and our money should be refunded. Shame on Ryan Air to have such a discriminating program. Cost for a one way trip from London Stansted to Dublin, Ireland for two, 45.72 for tickets, 58.32 for luggage, 90 pound fee for not using the internet, total 194.04 pounds. Cheap is relative?"
Pros: "This was one of the worst airlines and overall worst travel experiences I have ever had. I travel alot and Ryanair is one of the worst airlines in business today. The entire crew on the plane was rude and uninterested in offering any service or answering any questions I had. The staff at the airport was even worse than the on board crew they were EXTREMELY RUDE and not helpful in any way; they were only interested in trying to overcharge you for every little thing. I HOPE to NEVER fly with Ryanair again."
Pros: "The plane was clean, the crew was polite and helpful"
Cons: "it's not worth it, i chose it as it was the cheapest flight available, what u discover later is that u pay 2 times as much in transportation because the airports are further off than the main ones, I ended up paying 140 pounds for my luggage, it was 8kg over weight but that price is unreasonable. I ended up checking in and baggage drop in nearly 2hrs, they were so slow And I could have missed my flight if I wasn't there extra early. I might as well have used some other airlines with alliance and even got miles"
Pros: "The in-flight staff was friendly"
Cons: "The boarding process was incredibly disorganized, with no rhyme or reason for why we were waiting in line after line after line without getting close to boarding the plane. The flight was delayed so we missed our takeoff time, and had to sit on the tarmac for an additional hour and a half until we could get another time. There were very few updates given, and people had to ask flight attendants for updates since no one knew what was going on (even the flight attendants didn't know). We weren't provided any snacks or drinks (not even water) and were told we couldn't even purchase water from them because they weren't allowed to sell anything until we were in the air. When we arrived in Edinburgh, we had to wait for a gate to be available because we were so late, and then had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes for grounds crew (which ended up being one woman) before we could get off the plane."
Pros: "The flight was short."
Cons: "This is our long awaited honeymoon. We have traveled and checked in to over 8 flights on this trip all across Europe. But with Ryan air, for some reason, I checked in for the flight but it did not accept on RyanAir side for some reason. I knew I would need to pay for excess luggage (not a surprise. I was expecting it) but then I paid to get up front seats with priority boarding. I had to enter in all the passport info, select seats and pay immediately.(figuring this is checking in, since it was all in the checking in section of he website) So all together a flight was originally $100, turned into a flight that cost me well over $300. Then at the airport, they told me I never checked in. I was charged £90 just to check in!!! Then on top of it I had the counter clerk call me a "bloody wanker" and asking if I have" ever checked into a flight before". He continued to berate me and insult my intelligence. When I asked to see a manager because at this point in only had 20 minutes to get to the boarding gate, he threw a fit and said I need to move out of the way or else he will not even check if the manager is available. The manager and the second clerk who helped is were very nice about things. Surprise fees and not even a small amount of compassion for 2 people who are on their honeymoon, insults, and paying more to go from London to Dublin than to go from Dublin to Manila (the next stop) is absurd!!! I will never fly RyanAir again and will do everything in my power to make sure no one I know will fly with them. Miserable."
