Excellent locatiion and service
Nice clean rooms Parking was terrible
Wide variety of food room service was very convenient. nevetheless the hotel own restaurant was also reliable. It would be appreciated to have an iron in the room.
location was perfect for Art Institute student visit. great location near theatre. room was small but clean and confortable fold out bed was lumpy and uncomfortable.
no frills, very comfortable, very close to train for airport. no dislikes
Free wi fi, the pub beside the hotel, ubication, facilities, free water, lobby View from the window,
the location of the hotel and front office help. the poor services in the hotel.
It had a good location in relation to the things we wanted to do.
cozy the small bathroom
Convenient location, good value, well equipped room, excellent service. Nothing
Very helpful staff, clean rooms, chilled water was a nice touch along with other guest facilities.
Great location and rich history - opened up the windows for cool air at night.
While the exterior of The Congress represents the bygone days of a once glorious hotel, the interior is, sadly, the result of age, poor maintenance, and general neglect. The very first impression I got was the malodorousness that permeated the entire facility. Upon entering my room, the odor was insulting as, clearly, this hotel once permitted smoking (but apparently made no effort to eliminate the persistent smell. The furniture must've been obtained from the local Goodwill as it was well-worn and mismatched. Cracked tile on the bathroom floor made the entire experience unpleasant. Hey Congress owner, it's time for a remodel!
Way past it's prime...
Great location and in hotel amenities Luxury hotel once upon a time, but lack of appropriate upkeep drops it down a couple notches. Not a bad hotel, just not luxury anymore.
The location was perfect The ice machines did not work, went to 11 and 12th floors.... Neither worked. WIFI did not work on the 10th floor the entire stay. In fact it only worked in the lobby for us.
All the major sites are walking distance from this hotel. LOCATION Our room smelled like cigarette smoke. It was so bad it penetrated our clothes. Also, they had water issues during our stay. There was no water coming out and after they "fixed" the issue there was brown water coming out. The hotel has beautiful designs, but it looks run down. All of their furniture looks beat up. The drapes in our room had holes. The front desk had mediocre service. The bellman were very friendly though. This place has lots of potential because of it's design and location. They just may need new management.
Margarit at the front desk was phenomenal, and Diaz in security was very helpful.. We came out to catch a couple of Cubs games and sight see. We did not spend much time in our room, which was good because overall comfort was about a 3 out of 10. Old, old old. Reminded me of that 1960's home with the pocket doors, and diamond like door knobs, but has NEVER been updated. A place to lay your head and store your luggage and no more. Although I must admit the pancakes in the rear restaurant from the front desk were GREAT!!!! Cold, I mean COLD water in the bathroom. Peeling wall paper. Hotel really needs to be gutted and updated like yesterday. For $200.00 per night the overall appearance of the hotel was about $40.00 per night. Yes we had a good view of Buckingham Fountain over Michigan Ave. And that is the only thing that gave us some, just some of our money's worth.
For the condition of the the hotel, was MUCH cleaner than I expected. Staff were also very cordial. All I can say is that this was like the Happiness Hotel of Muppet fame. Not one dime has been spent on any hotel upgrades since 1976. Because of the baroque splendor it once had, this hotel is popular for weddings (maybe guests are blindfolded until they arrive in the ballrooms??) All was shabby, falling apart, and rundown with tons of springbreak-like behaving young adults. Walls paper-thin.
Location was good. Bathroom was not good at all.
Beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly. Onsite parking is cheaper than others in downtown Chicago. Wifi could be better. The rooms are older in style and decor, but that is to be expected in a 100+ year old hotel.
so many fruit flies in the bathroom! the showerhead was so clogged that the shower sprayed over the curtain and all over the bathroom mirror, leaving about 3 streams of lightly pressured water to shower with.
only suggestion for improvements I would have would be the doors to get into the different wings look like service entrances- out of character with the rest of the décor- could use an upgrade.
My hotel was right acros from the park..a short walk from the museum and aquarium, as well as a ferry to the pier! The room was clean and large, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby was beautiful! Hotel also has a large pool..was over all very impressed, would stay again on a return visit! That I had to leave!
need upgrade. Wall paper in bathroom peered off. Mattress was uneven and too soft. Too dark in the room even in the daytime.
I loved the location of the hotel. It was close to all that o came to town for. Plus the view from my room was spectacular! It was very easy to get a taxi, as the doorman did it for me. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Definitely will be returning on my next trip to Chicago! The only real complaint I can make about the hotel is the Herb n Kitchen on the main lobby floor. They claim to serve Starbucks which they do, but it tastes nothing like the real thing. The ingredients in my frap started to separate-- pretty sure te syrup was expired. But other than that, the rest of the hotel was amazing. I look forward to future stays there.
The amenities were great. I was given a larger room than expected with a nice (but not lake) view. The location was great and all staff were friendly and helpful. My room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. My room was also very clean and the tv had a lot of channels. Also, the building and common areas are absolutely gorgeous. I loved the gym facility and going for a swim after a stressful day. My only complaint is that there was a lot of loosely supervised young kids at the pool at 9pm. Would be nice if they had some hours for adults only.
A Very Walkable City with wonderful waterfront area and Great Food at Lou Malnati's and Gene & Georgetti. Museums, Aquarium, Planetarium, Soldier Field, Jazz Clubs and Great Restaurants...Everything is centrally located in and around Grant Park which is right across the street from the HILTON CHICAGO. The bed pillows were AWFUL! mushy and no support. A minor point, that would NOT prevent me from staying there again. My biggest CON was the cost of parking $56/day (self park) or $70/day (valet), for the cost of the room it should be included. Also in-room WiFi is an additional charge, should also be included.
Loved the Luxurious Amenities this hotel offers. Our room was comfortable, cold, and dark. All we needed was a fan to soothe me to sleep and upon calling the front desk, they delivered a fan to our room. Only negative I have is that our room had poor lighting. I'm a makeup artist so lighting is key for anyone to put on makeup, let alone a professional makeup artist like myself. Upgrade the lighting please!!
Great Location and staff. Booked direct with Hilton for same price with a better cancellation policy and free WIFI for HHonors guests. Plenty of parking around hotel (spothero.com)
Beautiful view and rooms Rooms got hot at night and had to shower to feel better about it
Great location for walking to a concert at soldier field Waited line for 30 minutes to check in and that was for the Hilton Honors pre-checks. Regular check in line was likely 45 minutes+. Keys to our room didn't work. Had to wait in line another 30 minutes for new keys. When we returned at midnight from TS concert and tried new keys they did not work either. Waited 45 minutes for security to open door with 3 small exhausted children. After calling 4 times for security and no luck I finally spoke to a manger and he came and let us in. Was supposed to put new keys under door overnight that was not done. Never received a working key the entire stay. Needless to stay they comped my room. I still had to pay the ridiculous $69 for parking. We will not being staying here again.
The location is good: close to subway, next to park, easy to get food to eat. I thought this is a 4-star hotel. When I saw the entrance of this hotel, it looks like 4-star. But when I got into the room, I thought I was in a 2-star Inn. The coffee maker is dirty, full of dust. The computer is not working and not able to off screen. The decoration of the room doesn't look like 4-star. Also, when the guest at next room used the bathroom, the loud "boom" sound would shock you. The WiFi is only free at lobby. The speed is really slow. When I refused to pay $30 for upgrade room with WiFi, the staff looked not happy. My teen girl was very disappointed for her trip to Chicago. She always wants to stay in hotel but this time she didn't want to stay longer.
Glasses which were used and kept aside for replacement were again kept in the same position for usage. they were not replaced just like any other utilities. overall very nice place
Large lift lobby, never needed to wait for lifts Exorbitant price for outdated facilities. Extra charge for gym use, for 2-hour checkout extension, poor Wi-Fi coverage, HHonors login doesn't match room reservation detail. Do your wallet a favour and stay elsewhere.
The main lobby and bar were beautiful and relaxing areas and the hotel is well maintained and clean. Rooms and bathroom were very small and the building is definitely an older building. That being said, the interiors were clean and well taken care of, and the common areas were very well kept and beautiful.
Location was great. Near millennium park and downtown attractions Never experienced worse hotel staff than this. From the bell man to reception to guest services
Incredibly beautiful hotel. The lobby is a masterpiece. I felt like I was transported in time...with modern amenities close by. Wish there was a refrig in the room but other than that, this trip was perfect. I plan to visit The Palmer many more times.
In the middle of everywhere I needed to be! Near read line, near great restaurants and near the bean. Bed was a bit too uncomfortable and no water pressure in shower.
Walk into the grand lobby and you feel like you're part of Chicago history. The rooms are a little small.
Décor in the lobby was fantastic, staff in the restaurant were wonderfully attentive. Excessive noise due to an event with 200 high school and young adults. They were allowed to run up and down the stair wells until 4am even after complaining to the front desk. I expected the Palmer House to be luxury accommodations, but found in reality they do not care about their guests. Host at the Honors desk was very short and abrupt.
Location Beds were lopsided, couldn't sleep on it.
The hotel is historic, but apart from the lobby, which is impressive, the historic details are not well preserved, so overall it feels less like a grand old hotel and more like just an old and run-down hotel. The room was small; carpet was worn out; drapes hideous; no fan in the bathroom; a tray of junk food was set out on display front of the bed, which could not be moved without incurring a charge, so it was like we were sleeping in a convenience store.
The check in was smooth and easy. Our attendant answered all of our questions and made great suggestions for food and activities. I will say, i had the BEST caramel macchiato at the Starbucks that is in this hotel. I told the barista then, and i'm saying it again now, it was hands down the best! The bed seemed really firm which is unusual for hotels, usually they are plush.
Gorgeous lobby with polite staff. The bed was incredibly comfy and the room fairly clean. We had a room that shared a door with another room. It was EXTREMELY loud despite the gentlemen next door speaking in normal volume levels. They had their tv quite low, yet we could hear every word. It made us very uncomfortable. We chose not to make a fuss out of it since we had a terrible drive in and we were only staying one night. The bathroom was TINY.
Efficient and clean
We had a lovely room, very well decorated. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was quiet and the staff was extremely personable whenever we came across them. The lobby itself is worth a visit. It's like stepping into a guided yesteryear. The paint on the back of the bathroom door was flaking. The tv is too small and it was hard to get the remote to work with it from the beds.
Loved the atmosphere, very pretty, very nice hotel. Had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.
Was a bit of a mess but it will end. Not all rooms have a desk for computers
The location was nice. Boring hotel, average style rooms and amenities for the price range hotel
I was delighted to be upgraded to a suite, which was very attractively and comfortably furnished - I'm a fan of Mission style. The location is great. Only a few yards away from the Madison-Wabash CTA stop, easy walking distance to Millenium Park, Art Institute of Chicago, the lakefront, many fine restaurants, and the Lyric Opera. Having Ada's downstairs is also a plus for breakfast or lunch. I wish the hotel would provide real glasses for drinking instead of soft plastic cups.
Location, location, location Two blocks from Chicago 'bean' - cloud gate and parks. Front of hotel with construction for 'E' was not pretty -- but we never heard any noise in our room.
Talk to Bennie when you get there. He'll get you set up downtown.
We got a great rate on kayak. The room was spacious, bathroom was huge, and shower was great. Lots of storage and hangers. Staff was extremely helpful, very nice, and very quick when help was needed. The view of the room was awful. We looked at a very dirty alleyway with a view of a brick wall. Also our truck was damaged by the valet service. They assured us they would make it right, so that's why I still gave them 4 stars.
Everyone was just so helpful - whether it was advice on the train system, to off the beaten path restaurants or activities, all of the staff went out of their way to help us enjoy our trip to Chicago. The room was very quiet - we seldom heard any noise outside of our door. There was a bit of construction outside the hotel, but even that added to the peace we felt at the facility.
Didn't stay here long but got upgraded to a beautiful suite. Great facilities, decor, etc. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great choice!
Like the decor, rooms were warm and clean, bathroom big and well-lit. Gym was fine, too
It's hard to exactly explain the understated but rich comfort of the Silversmith. They've put a lot of effort into getting the interior design just right, in the lobby as well as in the rooms, both of which are very comfortable. The staff is welcoming and friendly. All in all this is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at, and we've stayed at many. I guess in a nutshell I would say it reminds me of a Kimpton hotel, but with a more quietly dignified attitude. I was underwhelmed by the restaurant downstairs, but it doesn't really matter since there are plenty of dining options in that part of the Loop
This is a charming boutique hotel in the heart of the South Loop. Well worth a stay.
Loved it all! Our new favorite place!
Spacious, luxurious, close to a lot of great sites such as the museums and shopping and site-seeing places. Great to have breakfast included in the price of the room! Not very helpful at first with the parking for the workers didn't know the streets well to give directions to the parking garage and were really trying to have valet parking as the only choice at twice the price at $44/day!
Hotel's location within walking distance of everything. Spacious rooms and nice decor. Friendly staff. We'll come again!
Hotel was very well kept; rooms were spacious; location was great for business Hard pillows, hard mattress, street and hallway noise
Very pleasant and helpful doorman. The breakfast and the way it was served couldn't be worse.
The staff was friendly , I asked for an extra mattress for my child and they sent it immediately and at our arrival night it was rainy and the door man gave us umbrellas to use.The location of the hotel is good too. 1- The breakfast was poor and it was at the reception area (no room for breakfast), It shouldn't be called continental as they serve only donuts and croissant with canned juice and coffee. 2- the room has no fridge, 3- the coffee maker was in the bathroom.4- the internet was so slow. 4- parking costs $44 a night which is too much though all the 4-5 stars hotels I have been to around the world have their own free parking lots for hotel costumers.
Walk in shower was nice, bathroom very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Nice location to restaurants and the river. Staff very helpful, especially Dan. Dan was awesome and helped us book another night so we could be in the city longer. Good price too. A few shower tiles were dark, possible mold. It only had one door so water splashed everywhere. A palm-sized piece of the wall was missing and FYI if you don't want to hear street noise such as sirens and honking ask for a room away from the street, you won't get the best view but you'll be able to sleep without interruption.
Great hotel, well updated. Nice bathrooms and beds. The restaurant downstairs was incredible. The best smoked salmon Benedict I've ever had! Will go back.
Easy parking at lot next door. Easy unload in front of hotel. Great staff at hotel helped with transportation and restaurant choices. Hotel had large rooms and big bathrooms with large modern showers. Hotel allowed us to check our bags and leave them at hotel after checkout on Sunday so we could sightsee all day and get car out of parking! City noises all night but we were too tired from all our activities to be affected at night! No pool or hot tub but we knew that ahead of time. Overall best big city hotel experience we had!
The hotel was beautiful and in a perfect location - within minutes of everything there is to do in Chicago. The number one reason I will go back to Hotel Blake is the concierge, Showtime. This man knows everything there is to do and will go out of his way 100% of the time to help you out. We had an amazing time and can't wait to go back. I can't think of a single thing.
The staff was funny and nice.. Best part of our stay was the shower and no one complained of the noises. ;)
Room and facilities Breakfast was unacceptable...a bed&breakfast have million times better breakfast
The room was comfortable and large enough to have a small sitting area. I liked the extra high ceilings because the room felt much larger than the floor space. The beds were comfortable and the furniture in good condition. There was a complementary coffee and tea bar in the lobby with fresh fruit and sometimes cookies. This was a nice stop over before heading back to the room. The breakfast closes on the dot at 10am. This isn't convenient because younger people (I'm 28 years old) like to sleep in a little later. I prefer to get going around 10 or 11am. This is a simple fix, extend the breakfast hours by an hour. I'd like to see more plants indoors at this hotel because the city starts to wear on me after a while and getting a fix of nature is relieving.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, especially the woman at the front desk when we checked in. The location was excellent for walking and conveniently situated to mass transit. It was all pretty okay.
Staff was great, very knowledgeable and quick to give recommendations and directions. Breakfast had a lot variety and protein and fresh fruit options. Walls were thin, I heard a conversation in the next room at 11pm. Also WIFI access was too complicated to log in from a smartphone that I gave up since I had very limited time in Chicago.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great Yeah, the housekeeping time were at different hours during our stay. Sometimes early sometimes later in the day. it would have been nice if the bathroom/toilet had been sealed to show they have been sanitized.
The room was very clean and the bed was awesome. I liked the color choices for the room.
I appreciated the modern design of the room and the comfort of the bed. It was quiet and yet we were merely a walk away from everything that we were interested in seeing/visiting. I wish that I did not have to call from overseas just to confirm my reservation. The front desk personel reserved a nice room for us and made sure that we were not bumped from our room. I had to confirm 30 hours prior to our arrival since I was flying in from overseas and not arriving until 7p. This hotel is also fully non-smoking which was GREAT for me! The breakfast could be better. Once they ran low on food, they did not replenish.
All of above. Check in very easy. Felt safe needing key to elevator upper floors. Great breakfast. Staff warm welcoming very helpful. Found an empty Jack Daniels fifth bottle under bed. Not ours.
The hotel was well located for our purposes--within walking distance of shopping and many attractions. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and staff efficient. Breakfast was the typical Hampton Inn fare which is good quality geared to a wide variety of tastes and preferences. The facility was an older building that had been retrofit. Our room was a little smaller than other Hampton's. This hotel is probably better suited to a couple than to a family with younger children. But it was efficient and did the job. Décor was funky and different which can work either way depending on perception. Overall, the space worked for us.
The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean and well appointed. The location is also very close to many of the attractions that we were seeking out. within walking distance of Millennium park and Navy Pier.
The location of this hotel was great. We were in walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Valet and front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping service was very good. The food at the continental breakfast was great, and varied from day to day. The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast area. Where the food is served is very congested and there are not many tables.
Location, cleanliness, staff. Its a minor thing, but choices of pillows are too thick for side and stomach sleepers. Parking expense.
Location, rooms, breakfast
Loved all the old architectural features. The rooms were small but the architecture, view, location and excellent air conditioning made up for the size. My suggestion is to add a quiet seating area near the stairs and elevators on each floor so that guests that awaken early can read and have coffee while a child or partner sleeps. Joan
We like the intimacy of the hotel. The staff made us feel welcome. The location is walking distance from theaters, shopping, lake front. Parking is very expensive: tip - 3 blocks west of the hotel is public parking lot and we paid $15 for the whole weekend.
Staff were amazing! They took care of all the details with great courtesy. The room was beautiful, the bed was super comfortable and everything was very clean. The Atwood Cafe food was delicious, and they modified reservations for us without a fuss. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.
Warm, accommodating staff. Great location. Quaint, historic building. The hotel was more than adequate for our needs, but guests should not expect huge rooms.
The building, itself, is a renovated office building across from Macy's on State St. The location is ideal for sight seeing in the Loop. It's unique. A lot of art deco trim. It's nicely decorated, the staff is pleasant. They serve complimentary wine at 5 p.m. It's boutique hotel, not a monster one. The rooms are small.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Rooms were clean and very nice. Only complaint was elevator on Sunday morning. Most people are trying to leave and the maid staff had most cars filled with there carts. Maybe staging a cart on every floor would help that congestion. Otherwise it was a great place to stay.
Beautiful; FANTASTIC service provided by all areas; clean Mattresses were hard
Desk staff quite friendly and helpful. Everything classy and elegant. Umbrella iin closet was a nice tough. Didn't patronize the Atrwood? Restaurant although attractive ambience, Prices were prohibitive. Cup of cofffee: #$4.00, Eggs bENEDICT: $15.00 Fugget about it.
I liked the location and the quite comfort of the room. I liked the variety of contents in the minibar, even though I didn't actually eat but one thing. My room was a little noisy, but I just wore earplugs and that worked out for the most part.
I had an excellent room with a view of both State and Washington Streets and Millenium Park!
It was a beautiful hotel and a great experience valet parking price
The room we had was amazing. The view was amazing. The hotel itself was amazing. The lady who checked us in was very very rude, we booked 2 double beds a month I'm advance and she leads to tell me that we did not. We told her that we wanted 2 queen beds and she lies and says there aren't any rooms available with the bed arrangement we want. When I pull out the paper and show her the we had 2 queen beds, she goes to talk to another person and than a room that fits what we wanted magically appears. Other than this ridiculous incident all of the other staff was very very nice. Avoid checking in with the African-American girl with braces.
Staff promptly covered our mistake of a missing room with a walk-in and helped the family stay together during the vacations!
The room was comfortable and updated. There was an employee who listened to me (Iesha) and displayed professionalism and good customer service when there was a HUGE error in the room reservation on the part of Kayak/Get a Room. Lobby was inviting, The hotel forced me to upgrade my room and pay more per night due to the reservation made through Kayak/Get a Room which did not secure 2 double beds for 4 people. They contract with Kayak but you still need to call the hotel directly to be sure you are receiving the room you requested. Does not make sense to contract if you still need to call them directly. They did not clean the room during the stay unless asked directly.
The hotel was fantastic as well as the staff. It was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Great recommendations for activities and food. We had the the tasting menu at Mercat restaurant and had some of the best food we ever tasted. We will definitely be staying here the next visit to Chicago!
Great location, clean room, friendly service Food service only began at 6am.
Great location and valet parking is great after long drive "Historic " structure inside
For Chicago Michigan Avenue, the price is good for quality, clean rooms. Yes the room is small but very functional. Large bathrooms and plenty of storage.
They gave me a bigger room when they found out it was my birthday. The room is nice. The lobby is spectacular. I could have spent a day relaxing in the Living Room. No problems really. Not much of a view.
Downtown location. Liked the Bliss toiletries. Modern touches to the room like the uplighting under the bed and illuminated art. Very cool lobby and bar. Very small sink. Dated room. View of a back alley from our room. Small bed, no coffee maker. Small room. Way over priced for the quality.
I loved our stay. So chic with a cool, modern, vibe. My kinda place. As a city girl, I appreciated the slanted bathtub that fully covered my body. It was nice to take a bath. Being on the inside of the courtyard was perfect for light coverage and news coverage. The bed was super comfortable and the room, no small, was hip and wonderful. We stayed for New Years Eve and just walked to all the festivities. It was perfect.! If people were loud, or had more than 5 people in a room, you could hear them through the wall clearly. You can also hear clearly outside the door. Also, the plumbing makes for great water pressure, but the downside is that you can hear loud plumbing through the walls when someone runs a bath or shower above you.
We enjoyed the location We didn't like the initial room. It smelled terrible and was tiny. The bathroom door was an inch from the toilet when it opened and there was no room to put our bags.
Beautiful hotel with a great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I expected more for the price. We were upgraded when we checked in, which gave us a larger room. The bar in the front lobby was extremely expensive, had it not been so overpriced we would have spent more time there.
Everything was in working order, staff was super friendly & professional. From the valet to the concierge to the bartender, they all made us feel taken care of! They asked the reason for our stay & we said it was our friends bday. They sent up a bottle of wine & a dessert for the bday girl. I was asked whether I wanted my receipt printed or emailed and I said emailed. I haven't received it so idk what my bill is yet :-/
Clean room, with plenty of supplies Small room, worked for a one night business stay, but wouldn't have worked for a longer stay.
Friendly staff Comfortable beds and rooms Convenient location Expensive wifi Expensive in-room dining
1) Walls were so thin, we could hear neighbors talking on phone or to each other. 2) The sheets/bedding were like sand paper. I am not spoiled, so believe me when I say, that for a hotel of this price, they could have at least used a better quality of bedding. 3) The design of the hotel (rooms and common areas) is "tacky modern" -- Not sure who thought this looked work? 4) In short, spend your $250 else where and get a much better experience. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give this stay a 5.
The ambiance of the hotel was fabulous ! Room was large and comfortable. .
It's in the financial district downtown, the only con is location, it's very close to wills tower, millennium park, etc Rooms are extremely small, you can barely move around the bed, the bathroom as close to no space for putting your makeup or curling iron etc. the noise level is bad, at 03:00am Sunday night early Monday morning some girl was screaming and shouting on the phone, telling her friend or family to come get her. Unacceptable this went on for at least 15 minutes, I wanted to call security on her.
Very posh, clean and pleasant stay. Will stay at this place again in the future. Being a very busy weekend during our stay, only a king bed was available instead of the double bed we requested. Reception was very nice and sent us a roll away bed without charge.
Location + king room was very comfortable 1 elevator broken
Substandard hotel that charged a a five star rate. Wish I would have slept in my car'.
great location Sheets too short, wouldn't stay on bed.
Great accommodations for the price, friendly staff with awesome recommendations, clean and in a great location. Would definitely recommend! Only real negative was that the room was constantly too hot with no way to adjust heater or turn on air conditioning. Had to have the window open the whole time to keep temperature down and was still way too hot. Microwaves to reheat food would also be a great addition.
Nice pool. Parking was overpriced and when I asked the receptionist for assistance in locating cheaper parking, she told me that I would just have to walk around and find it. The security guard was very helpful in assisting me with that. Turns out a cheaper parking garage was actually next door. Got into my room to discover that they checked me in for the wrong room. I had ordered and had a confirmation receipt for a standard double, she had given me a single queen. When I tried to call down from the room phone, I could never get through to the front desk. When I called from my cell phone as a new customer, I was able to get through and it took some arguing and reluctance on the clerk's part and a long hold before they would honor the receipt I had for the room I paid for. I had ordered and paid for my room over a month in advance. No hotel restaurant or bar, which forces you to go next door to the Hilton and discover how much nicer their place is. I will not be staying here again.
Decent price great location south loop great value. Small bathroom
Staff was very accommodating. There was no hassle and no charge for a pull-out bed. They even granted us an extra hour when we were running late on departure. Sadly, I can't give them a perfect rating. On the floor beneath the desk in our room I found a dirty old razor blade. I firmly believe that this was in place for quite some time because of how it was embedded into the carpet. Had one of my children discovered it first it would have ruined our entire vacation.
it was ok to spend the night. we had to pay for parking $60 per night
My room had a beautiful view and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Decor is a bit dated and the pool was a too green for me to feel good about swimming in it.
Housekeeping, doormen, and one front desk clerk were very nice. Bedbugs and other staff debating it with me.
Good location, comfortable
We liked the cleaning lady. She was kind and the most professional. We also liked the gentlemen who helped us get a cab. He was kind and treated us like family. I didn't like how I specifically paid for a standard dooblw queen room months in advance for three days only to arrive and they tell me, "sorry we on have one queen a couch and a cot". This was not a first come first serve. They told me on the phone specifically what i would have. He room unpaid for. Never once did they try to accomidatw me the next day or offer a discount for the inconvenience.I paid over 700$ so my older boys could sleep on a cot that hurt his back and a roll out couch that the springs poked through . This was our first time to Chicago.
Location, location, location, couldn't have been better. Lobby was beautiful, unlike the rather drab rooms. Cleanliness was impressive and the room maid was such a doll! The Hotel security were both friendly and helpful. It is nice to be recognized and have a cheerful face to see each morning and evening. The front desk clerk was...well there is no other way to put it, absent. In the four days I stayed there I never once found the man at his appointed front desk but was hidden somewhere in the back room. This man never offered anything of help, including baggage help etc. When I did speak with him it was terse and inadequate. Surely didn't make me feel welcome. He should get another job in which he does not deal with the public.
Location - close to downtown Not accomodating on providing sufficient late-check out.
The only friendly people working at this hotel are the two porters that worked in the lobby. They were friendly and helpful. Especially the man working the night shift. I found every person I talked to at the front desk to be short and rude. I asked about where to park for the best price and he acted like no one ever asked that question before and was rude about his answer. Never mentioned validation to reduce the fee - found that out on my own. Scowled at the mere mention of early check-in and never offered to take luggage. This man needs a new job where he doesn't talk to people. Came back later to talk to a younger guy, thought he would be friendly - but no smile, no helpful tips. Blah. Then the rooms were unbelievably old and run down. Warning: NO BLOW DRYERS in room.
This is a comparatively affordable hotel and a good value for short, busy-schedule business trips. If you don't need the extra amenities and if you want a convenient, clean, no-fuss "place to stay" it's a good find. It is also close to the downtown Universities, making it easier for the moving in (or out) of your college student(s). Although there are many food choices within a few blocks, it would be nice if there was a breakfast choice, that was open early, in the building.
It's was close to everything so I could explore during my layover and get some .rest. It was good for the price. But I would stay there again. It is next to a loud people mover. Also when they redid the hotel they took to many short cuts peeling paint exposed pipes no breakfast
Clean room, hallway, and downstairs facilities. Friendly & well informed staff. Three medium sized elevators. Small cramped room with tiny bathroom. Even on the 10th floor the sound of blowers in the alley made for an incessant, loud hum all night long. Screaming crickets would have been more welcome. Then the steam radiator heat wasn't turned on until 10pm. My room was about 60°F when the pipe-knocking finally began. The restaurant downstairs was overwhelmed in the morning since only two people were working - though the food was pretty good. I waited 20 minutes to order at the counter and another 20 minutes at the table until my pancakes were finished. 15 minutes later I was finished. Parking is not included and my plans kept me in downtown until 3:30. So I put my things back into my car at the garage across the street after breakfast. When I collected my car it had been parked there for 23.5 hours, yet I paid $15 dollars extra for a second night as I was ready to leave after 2pm. Still cheaper than another night in a hotel plus I was home in about 4 hours anyway.
I really like that is was close to everything. Everything was with walking distance, train, stores, buses, etc. The room was clean and well kept. The room was a little bit hit due to the heater. Try to turn it off but it did not work. Opening the window a bit did the trick.
We enjoyed our stay, location is very convenient close to all major attractions. When I arrived person at reception desk told me that my reservation was cancelled though in fact it was not. Customer Service was very helpful to locate my reservation. I just do not understand why hotel staff could not see it.
The room was a good size-a bit plain, but comfortable. The entry/exit to Grant Park for the Chicago Marathon was directly across the street. You couldn't put this building in a better place. Great location.
Location, a block from Michigan Ave, but rooms are in poor conditions. Rooms not good conditions, should be panted.
The people were wonderful. We were able to check in early, and they let us check our bags after checkout so we could explore the city for a little longer before we had to leave to go home. The people and proximity to Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, etc. were what made our trip. The window air conditioning unit kept the room very comfortable, and there was a safe in the closet, which was nice to have. It was what you would expect from a Travelodge: old, fairly clean, somewhat comfortable mattresses, nothing extra. I am very glad I brought my own hair dryer because they did not have one in the room.
Parking garage right across the street. Beds were small uncomfortable cheep pillows and sheets. Staff at front desk was rude and not welcoming. Very loud Banging noise on the pipes around midnight. View from Windows was an abandoned building. Only gave us one coffee cup and no water cups.
Location, everyone very helpful Squeaky bathroom doors

All that was advertised was true and well received. The location was just what I wanted and needed, within walking distance of major restaurants, stores, banks, and museums. No!
The staff was very cool and friendly. The fruit infused water when you first arrive is great! I really liked that a wine bottle opener was available in the room. The Jacuzzi needed to be cleaned more often. But the fitness center was fabulous.
The staff was very nice and family friendly.
Friendly staff. Nice accommodations. Great location No
As one over 6', I loved the large tub! It was hard to find the ice machines unless one knew to look fo the specific signs

The food in the bar/restaurant was delicious. My 12yr old daughter said the Ceasar salad was her all time favorite. Bathroom was spacious and beautiful, bedroom was kind of small. Decor was beautiful. Whirl pool was out of order. The lay out of the hotel was strange. Needed to access an outer hallway door with our room key to get to our room.
Room was clean and very comfortable. Stay away from Florintine's.
Hotel is beautiful, and the location (right down the street from the Sears Tower) is excellent. Great bar/restaurant, plus an upscale Italian restaurant on premises. Rooms were amazing and incredibly comfortable. Very, very impressed. I would expect free wi-fi from a business-oriented hotel of this caliber. Was also surprised there was no refrigerator in the room.
Nice lobby, nice rooms, nice exercise facility, and friendly staff.
TV service did not offer NBC and possibly ABC. Otherwise a great place and location. The other stay a couple of weeks ago - the phone did not work. Could't call to the front desk. Phone was dead and even after reporting this continued to be dead for the whole week.
The convenience that the hotel provide is great.
The hotel is in a great location. It is right in the downtown area. There are a lot of great places within walking distance. The hotel was clean, and there was a little pub in the hotel. Both of the staff members we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. They have free bottled water available that you bottle yourself, which I thought was pretty neat. The parking is not onsite. And we were not really sure where to park before we got there and we were sick of driving around so we ended up parking about five blocks away and we were parked in the spot for a day and seven minutes and it cost $49. So if you stay here I would plan out your parking better than we did. Also out room was super tiny and had a horrible view. And when we got to the room I went to use the bathroom and the handle on the toilet seat was cracked. Then the next morning the toilet just broke altogether. And the shower was either super hot or freezing, there was no happy medium. Our room also was in desperate need of an update. The tv was tiny and the room looked like a teenage boys room.
Very clean and comfortable with a great location. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel offered many free services (free bottled water, printing, snacks, coffee...etc.). On site restaurant was very good. Bathroom and shower was very small but manageable. Bathroom had a frosted glass door that was surprisingly see through. Plan parking in advance to avoid either paying a small fortune for parking or having to park several blocks away.
Free wifi and free water. My "queen" bed was really two twin beds pushed together which lead to an uncomfortable nights sleep. The room was also the size of a closet but I was too exhausted from my flight to put up a stink.
It was expensive, but not for a downtown Chicago hotel. It was certainly reasonable compared to the other neighboring hotels. The staff was great and the room was small but very nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was expensive, but not for a downtown Chicago hotel. It was certainly reasonable compared to the other neighboring hotels. It was a great place to stay - stayed here for business travel. They're professional all around. Don't get a car here; expensive for parking. You shouldn't have one in Chicago anyway.
My wife and I have always stayed north of the river but chose this one to stay in a different part of the city but be close to everything. We loved the location to CTA stops because used that to get around the city. We loved the location's proximity to basically anything that we needed. The staff was very informative and friendly. My wife enjoyed the chilled water bottle stations on each floor. The elevator runs very quick compared to other Chicago hotels that we have stayed at. The room service and food deliveries run late into the night. We purchased our room online so maybe we were not given the best room. Our room was in a "hole" of sorts. There was absolutely zero views from the small window and barely any sunshine. The size of the flatscreen tv left much to be desired. Most hotels now at least have a 40" tv. There was no microwave in the room and not one that we could access down in the lobby area. The bed was not overly comfortable. Again, we loved most things about hotel because we chose it more as a crash location, not a place to stay all day.
Outstanding service and staff. The room was clean and they had a fitness room that wasn't busy. Also, they had these purified water stations on each floor. Very small room and the treadmills were pretty low quality.
Loved the free coffee and water on each level. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Walls were thin, and you could hear other guests making noises and playing music in their rooms.
We stayed at the Club Quarters because it's a block away from the Chicago passport office, and was reasonably priced. Checkin and staff were great, very helpful and attentive, very accommodating. The business center in the basement is very convenient, however, it didn't offer color printing and we were prepping for a visit to the passport office which required color printing. The staff have me a list of kinkos/fedex offices which offered color printing, however the list was outdated and I wasted an hour running all over the city following old information. I share this with the staff and hope they have updated the info. I would have gladly paid for color printing, and was wishing I spent the extra $$ to stay at a Hilton, which reliably has color printing.
The location is absolutely perfect if you're visiting Chicago from out of town. However, the rooms are small and basic so if you're not planning on staying in the room that much it's perfect.
