Not much You pay additional for everything except a basic bed. The staff has a negative attitude that borders on rude. The elevator service is very slow.
Everyone was helpful, and gave great suggesstions. The room was large enough for the 4 of us, not always the case in NYC, clean and comfortable. We were very happy with the location and the BLT restaurant was very good.
Considering it was the marathon weekend we were able to get a room here. Very clean. Beds were small and not that comfortable. But for NYC it was bigger than I have seen
Was easy to get there, since it was a weekend we parked on the street without a problem and as we marked in the preferences we wanted a room with a view they gave us a a room looking at the Hudson River.
Beautiful hotel. The room was clean, nice and had an amazing view of the Freedom tower! Well worth the money
Great view, clean rooms, very attentive bellhop and staff. An air conditioning unit that was never able to reach the desired temp and a rattle from the unit itself all night long.
They easily accommodated all of my requests and the staff was delightful in all of their interactions. Beyond that, the hotels looks nice, has clean facilities and has a great location next to the One World Trade Center/Freedom Tower, as well as connections to a variety of subway lines. Very convenient.
Clean, beautiful view, attentive staff 20min cab ride to uptown
Location was what we liked and felt vary safe at all times. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortably. The parking was a great convenince but seamed pricey when you add it to the room cost. Maby price it per visit vs per night.
Baggage check & location
The rate was great for NY. Room was clean and the bellman are always helpful. The bathrooms in the lobby are disgusting. If you're having a drink down there you have to constantly go up to your room to use the restroom since the others are so dirty and smell like urine. The concierge was not helpful. When asking for recommendations to restaurants, he would only direct us to their restaurant in the 3rd floor. Also asked him about the Book of Mormon show, he called and tickets were over 325 ea. We had to talk to other a couple others in the hotel who gave us recommendations and we got tickets for a little over 130 ea. Seems lazy or completely unaware - probably shouldn't be the concierge.
fast elevators, clean rooms, super quiet, great pool, big windows, nice/spacious lobby, subway entrance out front to ACE and R. Comfortable beds/pillows/linens
Loved everything from staff to the fresh new high class bed sheets 55 dollars a day to park, moved 1 bottle of champagne in the fridge and was charged 20 dollars for it, due to the sensors on the bottles, called front desk and they removed it from the bill with no issue though.
We had a good experience at the hotel. Staff was nice and rooms were very clean. Only minor negatives: Room service food, particularly breakfast, isn't really that good, which forced us to start going out for breakfast ( 3 out of 5 stars). However no worries because it's NYC so there is plenty of food around. Location isn't the greatest, but it's close enough ( 4 out of 5 starts). The 9/11 memorial is right across the street, which is convenient, but other than that, you'll generally be taxiing or ubering everywhere. My boyfriend forgot his keys and didn't realize until we were back in DC. The great news is that the housekeeper did turn in the keys, but the guy in the list and find area was being a dick, asking him the most ridiculous questions... We still haven't received the keys either. Hopefully they actually send them.
It was convenient to the Wall Street and Broad Street businesses. The room was clean and comfortable, perfect for an overnight stay.
Transportation hub nearby. The room is tight. Barely any space to place a big bags.
The very quiet location, for New York (when emergency vehicles were not sounding off). The comfortable bed. Yes, we very much missed a coffee-maker. We did not use the snack center.
I liked the modern comfort in the rooms. They were typical city sized rooms but they were clean and had everything that was advertised. I also really liked the fact that we weren't in Times Square or other very very busy areas because we could sleep at night with almost no noise. Finally, because it is literally a 2 minute walk from the nyse and Wall Street (and the 1-2-3 metro direct to Times Square & Penn Station) it was extremely secure as there is security 24 hours a day 7 days a week guarding the stock exchange. The only thing I didn't like was that we asked for 4 towels for our Queen room (we had one king room for 2 people and one queen room for 4) and we didn't get a 4th towel.
Friendly staff, nice rooms, quick elevator, exceptional rate See comment on question no. 1
Small hotel but very comfortable with rooms funished to a very good standard. Very comfortable beds - loved the duvets and the pillows were the best I've ever slept on! Good location as although not in mid town it is very convenient for the subway so getting around was very easy. The only problem encountered was the fact people didn't know where the hotel (or Nassau street) was located! ie airport shuttle, taxis. Think this is largely down to the fact the hotel is so new. Just tell them it's a couple of blocks in from Ground Zero - which they should have heard of!
The room with two double beds is very small for four people
The ability to be able to travel anywhere in new york, its proximity to subway and bus stops. Good food nearby as well.
Does exactly what it says on the tin....clean,great staff... Good value.
Cleanliness of the room and bed; proximity to my destination Lack of restaurants near the hotel
I booked one room with 2 beds but they gave me a room with only one bed... and charged me for the first!!!! :-(
Modern interior, European feel. Clean and efficient rooms. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Fantastic bed.
Small dimension Too much noise from the street.
the hotel was great i got agreat deal with booking it early, make sure you do this.
Hotel was clean and well presented. Breakfast good although pricey. Beds very comfy. Staff generally pleasant. Location good for downtown areas only It was very noisy (traffic) and room was opposite the lift so some internal noise as well. We were not charged the agreed booking price despite pointing this out twice. Air condtioning very noisy/ineffective so forced to open windows at night hence increased noise.
Centrally located so many different burroughs were close by (SoHo, Greenwich Village, Chelsea). We had a king room and it was very tiny. Nice accomodations just small. There was a little mold in shower. And the shower is rainfall style positioned on a tall ceiling so you couldn't adjust the direction of spray if you wanted to.
Great Hotel, good location, very modern, comfortable Water pressure in hotel was poor, shower a tricle, staff couldn't resolve
LOcation, and value
The hotel was on walkingdistance of public transport and a lot of places of interest
The staff was friendly and responsive. The location was great. Bed and shower were very nice. The rooms were small and we were woken out by another guest coming home loudly at 3:30 am. However, it's NYC!
I liked the fact that the hotel was very private and very clean.
Very nice new and clean rooms. Quite noisy especially on the Street side, they tried to charge me with a breakfast I did not have, staff a bit unfriendly.
Beautiful hotel. Excellent service. Dramatic building and interior. Clunky internet sign on. Limited to 2 devices per room.
Been close to a park to enjoy calm after being in the heart of New-York.
Loved the big huge rooms for NYC.
architectural aspects of lobby and room. Location, location, location.
The rooms are very nice and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. The breakfast was top notch. I would have loved to stay longer.
Loved our deluxe suite room that had sliding doors which kept each room very quiet even when watching tv with the volume turned up in one room. The push button controls were really cool for the lights and privacy settings. Enjoyed the free breakfast at Atrio and the friendly service from everyone there especially the host. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and were able to accommodate a late checkout of 2pm for us. Appreciated the unique designs and architecture of the hotel. Liked that it was located right next to the World Trade Center, and of course Shake Shack. Liked using the exercise room and business center which were very clean and well maintained. Overall it was a very relaxing and pleasant stay. Nothing really except that there was no swimming pool or entertainment room with a pool table or table tennis.
Location, facilities & service outstandingn Nothing
Liked all except conference facility. Hotel was great. Meeting room was bad. Seats may have been most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in at a conference.
We found the staff at The Embassy very polite and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. Excellent having access to the internet in the business centre. Given the price of the suite we felt the bathroom, whilst clean, was rather shabby.
Spacious rooms. Great products. Awesome shower. Wish there was a coffee shop or starbucks in lobby
Good location, close to public transportation and nearby shopping, easy to get into uptown. Pretty quiet location. Breakfast is nothing extra, could focus on something else than, bacon, egg and bagels. Continental breakfast. Lack of information on what services are provided in the hotel e.g roomservice menu missing in room.
The personel was very courteous. I like the complimentary bar from 5:30 to 7:30 and the choice and freshness of the breakfast Was awaken by a fire alarm at 4:00 am
quite new.....very cleanly....comfortable bed.......
Great location, clean and modern rooms, free wireless & wired internet connection. Staff not overly friendly
The location is unquestionably the real interest for this hotel may be we were unlucky but we had neighbouring very noisy and boring late in the night, noise again very early in the morning and the hotel just forgot our room cleaning while it was totally free all the day
Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in room no 825. staff are very friendly it is right next door to the world trade centre and a lot of building work is being done, I do not understand why people complain about the noise on previous postings, as when you are in the hotel you can hardly here it [yes everyone knows there is a lot of building work so why complain ] breakfast is good value , free internet use and free coffee in the louge I would highly recommend this hotel, michael & louise westcliff-on-sea essex england
the location was conducive to trips to various sites in the city, the staff was pleasant and the continental breakfast was nice.
Beautiful, confortable and very very clean !!!
We where not told that the room was a "pull out sofa bed" so I was forced to upgrade, I was also told by booking.com the breakfast was $8.00 for the continental buffet and it was 16.00 The Price, you can stay at the Milleniium for the same amount of money and its much friendlier and luxurious
The hotel was beautiful I disliked the way I was treated by some staff
The Room are new and with good furniture. They are big compared to the New York Standard. The bathroom as well is enough big and everithing is very clean. No noise even if near to the constructions of the wtc. 3 different metro near to the hotel in 200m. Good free WiFi. Public pc with printer available. Free fresh water on every floor. Complimentary breakfast is fair, but few choices and not refilled. Time for breakfast is short (07:00 to 09:00 am). Breakfast room is small and not equipped with tables: they are still finishing the hotel (Dec 09/Jan 10) and then there are only armchairs with small tables on the side. Staff not very professional. The price is already full even if something need to be finished.
subway closed price
Modern and clean. Very secure.
Quiet environment like being at home with excellent service. Close to business excellent positioning Nothing
Clean rooms, the staff was incredibly helpful and very friendly (gave us an upgrade, too!), great price, rooftop restaurant/bar had great views and a nice happy hour. There is a lot of construction near Ground Zero which can make it a little noisy during weekdays, but obviously that's not their fault and it really wasn't anything terrible. And over the weekend there was no noise at all.
Clean nice hotel near ground zero. Subway sations near as well as some restaurants. A suite was not very large, but comfortable for four people. A special price was very resonable for quality of hotel and service. Construction noise may disturb in some rooms, not a problem for us. A suite was booked for four people, but towels etc. only for three. After complaint an extra was gotten, but same problem next day.
The hotel was clean , the room was just the right size. The services provided are very good (free internet access, with yourown pc in your bedroom, or in the pc room, where you can print out your check-in on-line; free water provided; gym facilities). The hotel is in the Financial district, very close to the subway station, so in 15 minutes you can be at Time Square). The staff was helpful. I found a little hole in the bed-sheet, but I believe that was just something that can happen once in a while. Compared to many other hotels in NY the World Center had a reasonable price, but still I found it quite expensive...250 Dollars for just one night (it was the night of the Marathon though, so prices were quite high everywhere)! I guess that's just NY!
Hotel was good but service not what was expected delay in releasing car from valet parking Bad customer service
The hotel restaurant was brilliant. The location for Downtown exploration was amazing. Fantastic value for money. The was no pan for the hob in the room.
It was convenient in Manhattan, and the staff was very helpful. A little noisy with the construction nearby of the new Freedom Tower
Location was best for business. Location
The location was great. The room was adorable. The staff was very freindly and courteous
We picked the hotel because of its price and location. Very nice design, clever use of space. We had a handicap accessible room and it worked great.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room wa awesome and comfortable.
Attentiveness and responsiveness of staff, the room, which was a joy to in which to spend time, and the quality of service throughout the stay. I'm always anxious at Smyth about having a room with sufficient peace and quiet that I can enjoy my stay, but this time I had a room on Floor 8 that was not close to the lift - very relaxing.
the location was key. the rooms were decorated well and loved the tub in the bathroom. there was a problem with the temp of the room. it was 81 degrees and we couldn't set the thermostat. we asked for the front desk to check in at 8:30 and when we got home at 2:30- it was 79 degrees. it took time for someone to come up and fix and by that time- it was 3am.
The proximity to our friends 10 minutes away and the easy walk to Chinatown, great restaurants as well as the subway.I liked the modern decor and the ability to open the windows as well. We were offered a 50% discount to stay over on Sunday night. We were not there long enough!
beautifully done and quiet
Modern features like iPod dock, latest tv, modern stylish bathroom, large windows
A trendy, new hotel with very helpful staff. Great room with nice amenities (HDTV, well-stocked mini bar, etc.) and a large bathroom with Kiehl toiletries. We especially liked the area as it was quiet at night with no loud bars or nightclubs either on the property or adjacent to it. It is just a few blocks from restaurants like Nobu and Tribeca Grill. The property sits directly above the Chambers St. Red Line (1, 2, 3 train) so you can get uptown quickly (Time Sq/Theather Dist and Columbus Circle). SoHo is one mile north/northeast and the Meat Packing Dist is two miles north/northwest of the hotel. The hotel guests we met appeared to be well-educated professionals who were quiet during the evening hours. We'll definitely stay here again. The room door was set to close and did so very forcefully. It should be adjusted so that the weight of the door does not close so quickly and forcefully. It was difficult to bring in/take out luggage. Also, the thermostat/room temp control was difficult to operate. However, the large comforter was warm enough that the room temperature issue did not present a problem in getting a good night's rest. Plus, I'm confident that had I/we found these problems to be more annoying that the helpful staff at the Smyth would have addressed them quickly; we were too busy enjoying NYC to be phoning in complaint calls to the front desk.
Lovely comfortable rooms great staff brilliant location Having to pay for wifi
Clean, convenient, quiet Interior, reasonable price for the location. Tiny room, tiny bathroom, antique elevator, long hallway with turns and stairs, loud 4 a.m. garbage trucks.
The hotel was really clean and met the basic points which was a big plus (especially after hearing that other hotels in the city contain cockroaches...). Also, the location was decent and close to the subway so it was really easy to get around in the city. The staff was also friendly and I liked how there were computers in the lobby that the guests could use. The rooms are tiny! I felt like I was back in the college dorm rooms. For the rate of the room, I was expecting bigger rooms. Personally, I thought the value of the room wasn't there for what we paid but the rooms were decent and if you're in the City, I suppose all the rooms are going to be smaller and more expensive.
Air conditioner undersized and loud.
We were hosting a conference at a nearby bank, which was only four blocks from the hotel. Therefore, it was very convenient business-wise.
The location was wonderful, right next to the A and C and 1, 2, 3 lines. All less than a block from the hotel. The rooms were cozy w/ great room temperature control. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. Starbucks right next to hotel, which was great because they didn't have coffee or fridges in the rooms. The hotel was doing construction on the floors below us and they started hammering, drilling, and sawing very early, so sleeping in on vacation was impossible. What really annoyed me was while checking out the guy ahead of me who was also checking out made a big stink about the noise and he was comped a night. I complained and only got any apology. Perhaps, if I was not a young Hispanic woman, but a rich looking white dude I would have gotten comped too. The water temperature was hard to control as it was either frigid or scalding.
Location, lication, location...and price for NYC. Good bed and a clean washroom with nice soaps and shampoo. Big stain on carpet, noisy window air con unit.
It's modern, clean, great location!!! If you are a family of 4 or less is great! We are a family of 5. The room is too small, we didn't have space for an extra bed so one of us had to sleep on the floor... And there's no space for bags, luggage or anything extra...
it was close to everywhere in the city the staff is very friendly and helpful the hotel small and cozy
Location, next to the subway and Brooklyn Bridge. Staff, very friendly and welcoming. My room, a loft, was creative. Great historic pics on the walls. Fitness Center. Access to computers. Only that I took too much time booking it and the price on my website went up a little, but that's my doing.
Location, location, location. Room was small, but average sized for the area; good value. Bathroom could use a remodel.
the location was perfect for my needs The staff was way too rude..particularly the maintenance guy. BTW who ever needed a maintenance person in a hotel. Those rooms are supposed to be already perfect. At first, they sent me to a room in which I had to use stairs to get to my bed and my head would bump against the ceiling when I reached the top. Since the AC was located at the bottom of the room and fan not directly on top of the bed, it felt really hot upstairs. When I complained that this room didn't look anywhere close to what I saw in the pictures, at first they said all rooms are booked. Then, they finally relented after I pushed more. The other room was small in size but once again was hot and I had to deal with the same maintenance guy. All night, the place was very noisy with people going in and out, the doors seemed to be clanging all night.
Soap Feels like walking thru a discoteque during daytime, sad vibe.
Nothing ,,,tuelly nothing in this hotel ,,,,its dirty ,old , not well located im sorry nothing i liked I had bed bugs at W downtown , i had to go to the doctor , i was red hittchy and full of spots . When i complaigned to the manager he told me i was wrong they have no bed buggs , they did a pedt control . So my doctor asked for a biopsy that came positive . Shame and they did not want to refund my 3 night this place is terrible , and i had a terrible stay .
Only the beds. Small bathroom. Small room. Low beds. Small TV. No proper lobby. Had reserved and paid for a King size bed but upon checkin was told there only two full sized beds left. Almost no apology. No trying to make up for it with a credit or free movie etc. Very matter of fact. Wasn't expecting that from W brand.
Nice bathrooms. Room small but adequate.
The toilet did not work and the desk sent someone up from engineering within 10 minutes.
Location to major tourist attractions a huge plus! The 9/11 memorial and Statue of Liberty close by. Access to the subway is also walking distance. The room was small. The bathroom was even smaller. Could barely close the door once you step in. The elevator took forever to get to my floor. Over 10+ minutes. When the elevator doors finally opened, it's packed with people. I had to go down 13 flights of stairs with luggages! Not happy at all!
The room was VERY small... but nicely equipped and comfortable. ELEVATORS.... this was ridiculous.. they only have 3 elevators for 50 floors and each one hold about 4 grow adults. IF you stay here be prepared to wait 20 min for an elevator to go anywhere. Will NOT stay her again for this reason alone.
Convenient and clean. The rooms were a bit smaller than What I was use to.....but comfortable bed
Very nice stay. Almost my dream hotel room. The vendor machine at 10th floor doesn't work.
the bathroom flooded every time i showered
The location was prime. Especially if you're staying in the area for buisness. View was amazing. Staff was VERY friendly. Left some medication in my room after check out and they let me back into the room to grab it. The staff could work on giving better directions, but they were friendly and eager to help. Everything was clean and new. Also was nice cherry on top to be able to stay you've stayed at the tallest Holiday Inn in the world. Bar area was nice and bartender was friendly and offered us a free drink. Would certainly recommend this hotel if you're staying in the Financial District of Manhattan. The room was small. The king size bed took up about half the room, but we were only staying a night so we didn't mind. Also, the parking was a few blocks away, not well marked and a bit pricey (it is NYC after all). It was a bit of a hike to get to Central Park, Times Square etc. but the Statue of Liberty and 9/11 memorial/Freedom Tower are a short walk. No need for a cab or subway.
Bathroom design is too crampy, no place to put extra toiletries. there was no refrigerator in my room.
Location is the best thing about this hotel. Hotel was very clean. Rooms are too overcrowded. Can barely walk around my room. Very small rooms make me feel very clostophobic. Workers misinformed me about parking and had to pay full price for parking instead of getting discounted rate.
The location was great! Everything was at walking distance! The check out too early!
The view from my room The smoking floor, the wake up call that never happened, the false advertisement for valet parkind.
We arrived very early New York morning The hotel gave us a beautiful and very soon we got our room. Very nice hotel, our room too. Very comfortable, new and inviting. We were assisted by representatives of all that we had to receipt and received excellent service and answers to all our questions. We would be happy to stay at the hotel, even when we get next time.

The staff was friendly and the breakfast was great. Location was perfect. No
Good value No
I loved this hotel. It was perfect! The staff was super accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and quiet. Good mix of couples, and families with older children. For the location and price, I could not have stayed a better place.
Awesome staff. Great having a full kitchen, saved a lot of money in NY. The charge to park/store my car for three nights/four days was about the same or less than one roundtrip Amtrak ticket from Boston (where I live). Very nit-picky here: the pillows were flat -- the feathery kind that flattens as soon as you put your head on it. Also, TV channels kind of stink if traveling with kids, no learning, just NICK, TOON, and ABC Family. BUT good tv, can plug in devices.
it was in the center of a lot of attractions the wrong address is on the advertisement. It states 170 Broadway but it is not even on Broadway and believe me New York is not the place to get lost!! We drove around for over 2 hrs trying to find the hotel. The valet took $55 from us!!
The hotel staff overall was fantastic. The breakfast staff was absolutely outstanding, so pleasant, attentive and professional!! Kudos! N/a

I liked bringing my creature comforts from home and I didn't sacrifice my diet. I had the King Room with the full kitchen and it was well equipped, even more than I had expected. I was able to pick up goodies from the Greenmarket on Union Square. The location given wasn't accurate on GPS.
