Location, restaurant.....and unfortunately that's all Dilapidated room and bathroom, AC is so loud when turns on that wakes you up
Nice hotel, great rooms, bar and got an excellent rate
I visited for a conference. That means I spent a minimum amount of time at the hotel and didn't take advantage of any of the on-site facilities -- straight out every morning, straight to my room every night. That being said, the experience was highly positive. The room was bright, clean, comfortable and well appointed. I liked the hotel's decor. And of course, the location was ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful. I should note that the room was a bit small, and as others have said it didn't have a chair. I was able to get my work done using the provided stool, but an office chair might have been better. I also found that parts of the hotel, especially the elevators, were too heavily perfumed for my taste. The room wasn't, which is good.
Great location (not far from Penn Station / Empire State Building) new, clean bathroom room was very small noisy AC
Staff was very polite and courteous. The housekeeper who cleaned my room was very thorough and kind. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable! I didn't like the street noise at night. Honking of horns continuously but nothing the hotel can do about that in NYC I guess
The best hotel I have stayed in in all my trips to NYC. They accommodated my requests. I slept like a baby---& that NEVER happens! I would like to see a lower rate.
The room with one twin bed. It was the perfect, cozy size for one person, and much more affordable than other types of rooms at this hotel.
The hotel was clearly recently redecorated to be hip and modern. I did not realize my single room would consist of a twin bed in a 6 by 10 room. It was half the room pictured. There was no closet, just some small drawers tucked behind the bed. They do an admiralable job with space efficiency but you should know going in how small the space is.
Location was convenient to midtown and subway. Room was not clean; rotten food stored in the closet caused me to throw up. We notified the manager on duty (Juliane Vasquez) and she said there was nothing she could do than give us continental breakfast vouchers at the hotel restaurant. Continental breakfast is only toast and a hard boiled egg. We declined the vouchers and went to breakfast at another restaurant. Ironically, Juliane was at that restaurant and pretended she did not know us when we walked by her. I called hotels.com to straighten out the mess and they were surprised that Juliane/Martha Washington did not reach out to them to help us. Hotels.com called the Martha Washington and negotiated an adjustment to our bill. We checked out immediately and went to another hotel. We would not stay nor recommend staying there; Juliane and some of the staff need customer service training.
The staff went out of their way to assist with all our needs and although we were not happy with our room they went out of their way to sort us out . The first room we were assigned to , room 945 had a bad odour which was intolerable. We were then changed to room 444 which is slightly smaller but has good odour , unfortunately the aircon was super noisy and disturbed us on the first night . we then worked out a way to improve this noise so much better. The shower head in room 444 needs attention as it leaks at the back of the pipe - this is evidence of poor maintenance.
location was good for the purpose of my trip. the lobby/restaurant was hip and bustling. the staff: apathetic, dismissive, rude, unapologetic rooms: way too small and awkward, no shades on bathroom windows, no amenities, no closet space overall experience: borderline abusive special note- extremely awkward situation happening on 8th floor where apparently a permanent tenant lives in one of the rooms and has several crazy notices taped to the outside of his/her door. also the fitness center is a joke.
Friendlyat staff and great location. Quiet amd clean rooms. The beds were not firm enough
The staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel design and atmosphere were great. The bed was very uncomfortable - really hard. I stay at alot of boutique / pricey hotels and this was the worst bed I've had.
unique, great location - very little street noise.
The rooms were cute. Not to small. Stayed here for New Year's Eve. Wanted a bucket of ice for the room so my wife and I could keep a bottle of champagne cold. They actually charged us $5 for the bucket of ice. Not even Motel 6 charges for ice. Room was also very hot and a lot of noise from the street and hallway. Bed hard and uncomfortable.
Valet took >45 minutes after being told 10-15 (I allowed 20). Had to request iron, wastes time. Tub drain was fully clogged and GROSS so water did not drain. Shower vent grate was FULL of GROSS dust + mold. Noise outside from traffic, garbage trucks + roof party letting out kept us awake ALL NIGHT, absurd! Sounded like windows on Lex.ave. were open, but they weren't, they're just inadequate!
Very Very cool. From a British viewpoint it is like Malmaison but taken to the next level and with the addition of 5 star service. The concierge are very good at getting you into those 'hard to book' restaurants. The private guests only rooftop bar is very nice.
The service, room, restaurant, location were excellent.
the room and the position and the "edginess" of the hotel our first room (before we changed) only had a shower and not also a bath
Staff were very helpful and always on hand. The room quality was very high - the recent refurbishment has really focussed on top end materials and furnishings and for a hotel in central New York, the room was of a good size. Its central location in NYC is very helpful to get uptown or downtown and its situation gives an unusually peaceful night sleep in such a busy city. The roof garden was very nice, as were the bars, but some of the hotel claims are overdone. Cocktails are expensive by the time you add on service and tax.
Room set up Very poor service! I had water & juice poured over me during breakfast with no apologies! Tea was served without tea cup! Bathroom light was out for one day and not replaced. Laundry list was not provided despite repeated requests.
Location is great - the art is amazing and the roof top terrace restaurant/ bar is top
location is fabulous, rooftop bar was very nice. the room was very small.
Very central - good place in Manhattan! The hotel is too expensive for the comfort you get there. the rooms look like a youth-hostel also the sanitary-equipment but the hotel wants a price like a midclass-hotel! not OK!!!
Jeremy and the staff that we dealt with were super helpful and accommodating! The elevator isn't the quickest...
The room is beautiful. High ceilings, great fixtures, great bad… And all very well laid out. It was in a fantastic location, just north of the flat iron district. The only downside of my stay there, was the fact that it was under renovation in the lobby. I didn't bother me… Staff was excellent, the room beautiful.
The hotel has a very interesting interior design. It's confortable and welcoming. My only complaint would go to some amount of corridor noise, since the door and wall isolation is not that good.
The name It was too noisy, especially on the 3rd floor...I Could hear very loud garbage trucks from about 3 am until 4:30 am----ugh!
Nice finished in room. Room was smaller than expected. 1 slow elevator. Shower didn't operate correctly.
full of character, felt like I was in NY and not just a boring, standard hotel room that could have been anywhere in the world. more hot water please, shower mid day only gave me warm water.
The hotel's location, design and price. That breakfast wasn't include in the price.
Good location for Maceys, Empire State Building and sightseeing tour buses.
Nothing Stuff were not friendly
The location was excellent, walking distance to 5th. and Empire State, just great.
professional hotel staff; artistic interior design throughout the hotel; the location; the Birch cafe with great coffee and food and the common Library room. it would be great if hairdryers are available on demand for guests staying in dorms.
I stayed here in 2000, this was my first return. I've stayed elsewhere, but after this trip won't choose another hotel in NYC. The rooms aren't the largest, but this is more than made up for with the comfort of the bed. The air conditioning is loud too.
I love the classical decor and the wonderful staff. The rooms are very comfortable with lots of natural sunlight. The location is ideal as well. nothing
Nice bathroom Sat at the bar for awhile, did not get waited on and left
Please write at least 15 words Room was very small, had to ask for a luggage rack as there was not one in the room. Towels were not clean.

great location, very nice rooms, friendly staff, very helpful, no tea and coffee in the room,,
The hotel was excellent for the cost. The staff was great, particularly Stefan, the doorman. The room was spacious and nicely appointed.
The location was very good and the Hotel very nice in particolar the lobby. My bedroom and the bed war too little and noisy. When the people who stay in the room nst to mine opened the water, it seemed they were in my room. The window was not sound proof. The staff was not kind. I stayed there 6 nights and when I went our or I came back in Hotel, Nobody said hallo...or smiled to me....I Asked information about the columbus day at the front desk the night of 11th October and a man told me to ask information to the concierge the following morning...he could not help me.
everything was very hassel free.great staff!!!!
Value, location, comfort, and service were all excellent
The hotel is very tastefully decorated and our Deluxe Queen room was of good size, by New York standards. Bathroom was roomy enough as well and there was plenty of storage for toiletries. Bed was comfortable, linens were quite nice, and above all, the room, bathroom and linens were exceptionally clean! Staff was very accommodating. Valet parking for $40.00 per night - even our large SUV, was quite reasonable, I thought. I would definitely stay here again. No complaints at all.
well kept, nice decor, friendly and attentive staff, great location and nice lounge. We also enjoyed the breakfasts - thank you for a great stay - we hope to visit again! the room seemed just a bit stuffy even with the fan on. blanket was very heavy - like a coat of armor. Everything else about the room, hotel and staff was exceptionally nice.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and quiet. Will definitely stay there again. The hotel held our luggage for us as we were early to check-in and they offered us breakfast before we went sight-seeing. They even held our luggage for use after we checked out which was extremely convenient. Very nice doormen too. Very happy with our stay!! Not much I didn't like. The beds were not exactly pillow top, but they were still okay to sleep on.
quiet and lovely nothing - it was awesome!
not particularly i thought the service was indifferent
Hotel was located in a good area, no noise from the city, breakfast was good, staff were nice and helpful rooms were a bit small for two people staying in a double room,
Free wifi internet, free printing service, good room service restaurant staff not helpful and a bit pricey
Very clean and modern. The room sizes at the Park South Hotel are very small, especially considering the price paid and the distance from the Theatre District.
good location, helpful staff, good bar and restraunt attached, comfy beds, rooms abit small but to be expected,
I liked the cleaniness and service. I was really pleased because I have stayed at other places and not been as happy. The location was great. no
the beds-v comfportable poor customer service at desk
The staff was really helpful, friendly and polite. It is well located. This hotel is very over rated here. They show themeselves as a design hotel in their pictures just because they have a red wall in the reception and some drawings on the staircase walls. The rooms are just white, plain with huge, ugly, brown furniture that takes up all the tiny space. The only light source in single rooms is a very bright white lamp on the roof. Not even a side table lamp. The shower has no door, just a glass panel that covers half the entrance, so every time you shower the whole bathroom floor gets wet, since you can't even regulate the intensity of the water. The place for having "breakfast" is a joke. It's just a tiny space with 4 chairs behind the reception and a table with some breads & coffee. Juice is charged apart.
cleanness, desing windows not soundproof
Excellent location and service. The staff one of the best I have ever met. Refreshing experience among NYC hotels It is a boutique hotel, so room is quite small, but still very functioning
It was so central to everything-staff were extremely helpful-very comfortable, great bed, bathroom and TV. Easy start to the day having coffee and pastries! We'll be back-thank you again. Nothing
Perfect hotel, really clean & confortable. The only weak point is that the windows insonorisation is not good.... you can hear a lot of noice from outside... taxis, alarms ,traffic ...
The staff was very helpful. Rooms are small but nice and clean. Comfortable bed. The AC/Heating in the room was a very loud, and since insulation was poor you had to have it on all night wich affected our sleep a bit. Breakfast is just pastery and coffe - would be nice with a healthier choice as well...
Excelent location and extremely caring staff. The room was very small, but fulfilled all our needs and was consistent with the special offer rate we paid for (full price may have been too expensive for this room). Coffee was great, though the breakfast was not very appealling. I missed curtain in the shower to avoid the water to spread on the bathroom's floor and missed more hanger for the towels. A fridge would be very usefull. The grab and go breakfast could be better. Those who would not arrive early for breakfast, would not find anything left to eat.
Central location, surrounded by good restaurants, friendly staff always willing to help and give advice
We had a double/double room and it was had plenty of room and it was very clean and well presented. The staff on reception were very helpful and complimentary breakfast excellent to get you started for the day.Very well located for seeing the city without being very noisy.
Friendly staff Nice location Comfortable room No communal space in hotel No double-glazing so very noisy
atmostphere was really fun. great buzz about the place every night. evening meal is amazing. cant think of anything at all
The staff was friendly. The rooms were comfortable. The view was wonderful.
Location is excellent and our room was very good. Hotel design is contemporary and modern. The door staff appeared disinterested in guests and there was generally a lack of friendly hospitality that you usually enjoy in the US. With the exception of the bar staff nobody smiled at us!
Everything. Manager, Chris was exceptional.
The room was pretty clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The room was noisy--I could hear people in the hall and the room next to me. It could have been cleaner but over all it was not bad. I di not like the food in the restaurant "Olive's" it was too salty.
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. And the location is perfect.
Fantastic location with excellent staff, our room was fantastic we received a free upgrade on check in. Hotel bar and restaurant are well worth visiting, the local suway is a 2 minute walk away.
The location was superb. It was clean, quiet and very beautiful. None
Good location. Some check in staff were terrific, some were condescending that I booked my room through kayak. I had to beg them to get my SPG preferred benefits. After I asked enough people, I got them, after hearing different stories about their policy.
Loved the room, they had all points I require to be totally happy. Luxury, cleanliness, location, friendly staff. Super!! Will love to stay their again. Thanks for the opportunity to try them out.
I absolutely loved this hotel. The location is very good, there are some great places to eat around there. Having room service was excellent, Good bar that served excellent cocktails. Would definitely stay again. Conciege were extremley helpful.
conveniently located. centre of manhattan. most of the offices where I had to go were nearby & so was the Indian / south Indian restaurants. There were more than 10 indian restaurants in the vicinity of 200 mtrs.Rooms were small but comfortable, clean .... nothing specific. but rooms bit small. B/fast can be little more ...
The staff was not very friendly....
The hotel was clean, quiet and in an excellent location.
The value for money is good and the fact that there is complimentary breakfast is very good. Room is not very spacious but for the purpose of visiting NY great
The efficient use of the limited space in the room.
Very convenient location for us and a good rate.
The location is really perfect
Rooms are super clean and the staff are pleasent and very helpful
Very good location Small room
good value for money and central location staff were unfriendly and we were not given a non-smoking room even though we requested one
Staff were very nice. Comfortable bed. Unexpected complimentry breakfast. No tea or coffee facilities in the room.
Breakfast up on the rooftop! Overall. Great!
The rooftop pool is worth the stay. Not sure about going there at night but during the day, it's so far my favorite spot in the city :) The room itself is fairly standard. The ~$350/night is mostly towards the location and the pool.
All the staff, from the doormen to the concierge were friendly and helpful. Our room was fantastic, it was spacious and had a very modern, crisp decor. I felt like my wife and I had a nice little apartment in the city for one night. We're going back to New York in a week and we're staying there again. I honestly can't say anything too negative. I didn't particularly enjoy spending $350 plus, and it got a little noisy at times but I feel like that comes with the territory when you're in Manhattan. I will say that regardless of where you're staying, $18 for a movie is almost offensive. Why not just charge 2X what it would cost us at home? It would be a nice gesture.
Good confort in the rooms, pleasant staff and a nice location in NYC Nothing to report
Fruit flies at breakfast
I can't compliment this place enough. My wife and I stayed there the night before our cruise, and once more after our cruise ended. Our second stay was even better than the first. Top notch, friendly staff and a beautiful room. Can't beat that.
Room, comfort Inexperienced bar staff
The Location and price is the reason I stay here. The Shared bathroooms
- nice hotel - great location - good price - noisy air/conditioning - dirty curtain in a bathroom
The hotel was nicer than I expected. The decor was pleasant (wooden doors, etc.), though not ornate. The shared bathrooms are mildly inconvenient, but not bad once you get the hang of it.
Great for travelers on a budget. Very well maintained and clean. Excellent customer service. Sharing bathroom was no problem during my stay (07/20-24/16)--never any wait, and other guests were considerate. Room was small, but I was only there for sleeping. I loved the quiet neighborhood which helped to immerse me into the New York experience in a way that would not have been possible had I chosen a mainstream hotel in the center of a more touristy area.
Great location, clean facilities and reasonable price if you don't mind shared bathrooms.
It was close to union square and was cheap compared to other hotels. I walk a lot so getting to the east village was a short walk as well. Have to share toilets and shower. Other than that it was totally fine. If you are in NYC visiting you are rarely in your room anyways.
Cute little no-frills hotel. My single room had a sink, which was very helpful, and I only had to wait to use the shared bathrooms once during my five-night stay. Excellent location within walking distance of Union Square and several subway lines, as well as lots of restaurants, coffee shops, banks, shopping, and grocery stores. Quiet neighbourhood and quiet building. As many reviewers have said, the bathrooms and halls are kept very clean. The mattress was on the hard side, and my key card would often get de-magnetized throughout the day (though staff at the front desk didn't give me any trouble when I needed it reset). No dealbreakers or any cons that would prevent me from staying here again.
A few blocks away from Union Square Safe area Near many restaurants/businesses Clean, budget friendly! There's a sort of old New York romance surrounding this building, so let me explain in detail for future travelers; this hotel has not changed in many years. Most rooms have TV's the size of computer monitors. Walking into the room feels like going back in time, with an AC unit strapped to the window, and a lush wallpaper that your grandmother would envy. That being said, this is the perfect hotel. It's addordable, it is clean, and the staff is always helpful. Just a few blocks away, is the gorgeous Union Square, with the subway that connects to all the parts of New York. You can be in Times Square faster than you can write a review for this hotel! The streets were safe (I walked alone around midnight often during my stay) and the surrounding neighborhood is rather gorgeous in the morning light. If you're in the mood for something meaty in the morning, there's a lovely assortment of scattered food carts, one in particular that makes amazing egg, sausage, bacon and cheese bagel sandwiches fresh off the grill in front of Union square park. He also makes a mean Falafel in the early hours. After all the positive things I have to say about the hotel, I do feel obliged to mention some things that would normally affect one's stay. Certainly, none of these things bothered me; I have a soft spot for old hotels. However, be prepared to notice that the elevator is about as small as an airplane restroom, and the hallways are as narrow as your closet. To occupy as little space as possible and stay affordable, the hallways sacrifice width, and in return, even the most affordable single-bed quarters are roomy enough to do yoga in. If you go the affordable route and choose a room with no bathroom, do not be alarmed or skeptical, the bathtubs and toilets are cleaned very regularly, more often than I would say the one in your own home, if I may be so bold? The only thing to worry about is waiting for restroom use; there are four toilets and showers on each floor. Be prepared to either shower very early or very late, else face a line wait. Other than that, the AC system runs lovely, and everything is cozy.
Price is good, as long as you are clear on what you get. Rooms are small, outdated, and my room did not have a sink. Realized that my room would not have a bathroom - shared bathrooms in the hallway, but other rooms I've stayed in here have sinks in the room.
Location - close to 3rd ave and union square / village the bed was awful
All the options, wonderful breakfast and service
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We tried to get an early check in, but it was not available.
Having only one person at the desk (much of the time) meant that the level of service was not as high/prompt as it could have been--
Perfect för a family. Breakfast in the morning and wine in the evening.
Beautiful room and service was great. Breakfast was excellent there was alot of noice outside my room on the 5th floor at 5am
Rooms were clean, staff was attentive, afternoon complimentary wine and cheese was a nice touch. There was nothing negative about our stay.
The continental breakfast & the wine & cheese evenings. The fact that the roof terrace was simply that, a roof terrace and not a bar where you could purchase drink or snacks, it seemed a waste of space.
Very nice stay. Just a little too costly.
Easy-going welcome. Free coffee/nibbles in lounge made good and relaxing meeting space.
Central location, you pay the price for the room, everything else is complementary, luxurious room, nice breakfast.
The location, the rooms. The people from the front desk were very rude, looks like they don't like young couples.
Nothing I made a reservation to stay here accidentally and called 30 minutes later to cancel it but was told that my reservation was non-refundable. As a result, I had to pay over $180 for a hotel room I didn't need, even though it was due to a mistake that I tried to correct immediately. Unbelievable! What did I learn from this experience? Ramada is all about their policies and they don't care about their customers or doing the right thing.
clean room, nice TV very noisy. Heard everyone around me. Zero sound insulation. Outside traffic and noise was like they were in the room with me. Room was exceptionally small. Bathroom too. Hard to go into bathroom turn around and sit on the toilet!
High traffic noise made it difficult to sleep
The hotel staff is great. Free internet, free local phone calls and complimentary breakfast. The rooms offer no refrigerators or microwaves.
The breakfast was decent, the second room was ok, I had trouble with the front desk clerk as she gave me a smoking room although I told her I don't smoke and didn't want a smoking room she insisted that was the only room available. Once I went to the room it was impossible to stay there as the smoke smell was as if someone had just smoked a pack of cigarettes. upon bringing this up to the front desk clerk she just happened to find a non-smoking room. I don't appreciate being lied to by the front desk clerk. she said I reserved a smoking which I did not. I have never reserved a smoking room. she was a liar!
Close to excellent middle eastern and Indian food restaurants and shops, being in midtown made it easy to visit friends in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn but not a whole lot of entertainment options super close. Times Square is close if you're into that Room was super basic, bed was barely comfortable. The window fell off when I tried to raise it. It. Fell. Off. Staff seemed very nonchalant and like they could really care less, but weren't rude.
We asked for and got a quiet non smoking room on the top floor. Good condition, comfortable. Location is easy walk to the 6 line, and all mid town. I would stay again. Given the outrageous pricing of NY hotels, this was moderate, but I booked very early, so that helped.
Clean and quiet rooms.
Good location, information material, business centre - general value for money Breakfast facilities too small, uncomfortable and relatively low quality - adequate for students
Location and Value. Old facility and definitely need some updates. I've found mold in a bathroom around the soap holder, Room #907.
I liked the location most of all. It was in fair walking distance to many different locations The only thing I couldn't locate was a map of the area and a subway schedule.
I loved that the hotel manager Mike Williams is very accommodating to me! I appreciate even the smallest gesture! Staff amazing, good neighborhood, walking distance to the metro! Love it and would definitely stay there again on my next visit! ! Oh and the view from the 10th floor is incredible:)
The staff is very friendly. Rooms nice and clean. Decided to go to the 10th floor for the $12.95 breakfast. Very disappointed with the value. No different than what you would have free at Days Inn. Do not recommend it at all. second day ordered a pot of coffee, tasted like colored water.
The entrance is kind of hidden but the lobby was luxurious and sharp. I really loved the semi-circle lounge area and the colors scheme. I didn't like the original room that was assigned to me. I was extremely excited for this booking as it was a birthday surprise for my partner. However, the original room was so tiny it was difficult to move in. As soon as we entered, there was a unpleasant scent. I wasn't sure if it was coming from the ac vent as it looked pretty dingy or if the room wasn't cleaned properly. I took a chance and went downstairs to request a different room. The first front desk associate I asked quickly prompted me that all rooms were booked. When MILTA who overheard as she was getting off a call, generously helped us out. I am forever grateful to MILTA for accommodating my partner and I and for Marcel for providing a room that felt like our own and not a hotel room. Thank you Marcel!
The location was perfect for my needs and there is little else to choose from in this area. Staff were cheerful and earnest. The complimentary tea/coffee/lounge with free wi-fi was was stocked and a nice view... excellent touch. There were shorts in the electrical system in my room. The air conditioning, electrical outlets charging my devices, and the bathroom light would occasionally spontaneously turn off even when I was inside with the key in place. The window area near the AC and the furniture was really grungy. The wallpaper looked to be at least a decade old, making me think the management hadn't done a full renovation in many years, only superficial spotty maintenance work. Definitely expected more for the price.
Location is superb, especially for visiting Lower Manhattan or Midtown. Staff was exemplary and very attentive to our needs. I was able to do an early check in. The rooms are quite small. Nice, clean but very small.
Room was claustrophobic and so small we could hardly move around. Fact that a man committed suicide with toxic chemicals in the room next door certainly did not make for a good experience. Hotel staff was only responsive when we inquired about obtaining a new room. We did get a better room, but were offered no compensation.
The staff was very friendly which made my stay very enjoyable. The room was spacious for NYC standards. They were quick with bag storage, check in, etc. I ordered delivery food for dinner, and the front desk called the room and sent it right up. I was very happy with the customer service. Wi-Fi is not included in the rooms, they did not refill the shampoo, conditioner, body wash every day, the breakfast on the 10th floor could definitely use more variety. They should definitely offer a non-diary milk option. They only had skim or half + half. Not that many TV Channels,
Got a really good deal. Standard hotel with nice amenities. Water in the room cost $7 plus no vending machines.
I I paid 2 different fees which mean I was double charged.
Good value I forgot to leave a tip for housekeeping the first day I arrived. When I returned in the evening, I found that although the room was properly cleaned, the bathroom supplies (hand towel, shampoo) were not replenished. Everything was back to normal the following days when I did a tip each day.
The hotel was very trendy. We booked the basic room, but we felt it was a little small so I told the attendant at the front I wanted to upgrade the next morning, he told me to call up to the desk the next morning. Once I got back up to my room I received a call that I got a free upgrade and we would be able to stay in the bigger room for our stay which was awesome and close to everything to sight see and the fdr. The price of juice was pricey but it's New York and you gotta make money but nothing was bad about the hotel from our experience
The staff was so nice and helpful. Paying for Internet is crazy, we travel all over the world rarely is the Internet a extra fee.
It was one block from where we needed to go the most often. My husbands favorite coffee place was next door. (Petite abelle). The staff was friendly and helpful. And the room was newly renovated with high ceilings and a very pretty contemporary style. The bed was comfortable. Some rooms in this place have a shared bathroom. I booked one with a private. Still this seems to be a common thing in nyc so be careful when booking. We stayed in room 207 which was newly renovated. The only thing lacking was individual temp control, which we fixed with a space heater. A refrigerator and microwave would have been nice too. The room was very small, not good for more than two people.
Centrally located Loud music from bar next door
Chelsea Inn is literally 50 feet from 5th ave in awesome walking distance to everything. great location. Having said that, our bathroom wasn't in our room, we had a separate key and a shared bathroom_ which was clean, just inconvenient, and after a full 7 hours of walking be prepared to climb some stairs because you might be on the 4th floor and there is no elevator :-)
The hotel is affordable for New York City. It is clean, tidy and attractive. There are no extras, but the price is right.
I can highly recommend a stay at the Chelsea Inn. Lot's of stairs but a great room for a good price. Union square and Broadway is close by and you can easly walk to Little Italy or Chinatown! If you can't walk that many stairs this is not the hotel for you
Breakfast was good from the bakery down stairs - choice of pastry, a piece of fruit and a coffee and the lady there is lovely! Ask to stay in a room at the back if you can - the street is very noisy at night and the windows are not double glazed!!
Nothing front desk closed at 9pm so they basically robbed me. It looked like a homeless shelter, only crackhead and whores stay here
Location, price, decor, workout of daily walks up multiple flights of stairs, sharing a bathroom was not as bad as I thought it was going to be The complimentary breakfast really isn't worth being considered a selling point.
The renovated rooms were very nice, however, they had been recently painted and the fumes were overwhelming, so I was transferred to one of the older, non-renovated rooms. Although the bed and furnishings were new (sheets, pillows and wall mounted TV, the walls (paint and plaster) and carpet were what you would expect in a no-tell motel. Also, most of the rooms "shared" a bathroom. Your bedroom had it's own door and you had to leave your room to go into a bathroom which was used by another room. It worked out fine. Still, it is a great value ($65/night booked in advance) for the location! There's a cute french cafe next to it for breakfast and you're never in the room (very small as most NYC hotel rooms) anyway. It was a 5 story walk-up building - no elevator. After looking at 2 rooms (one without a window! and both freshly painted/smelly) we were transferred to the 5th floor and it was a struggle getting the luggage up the 4 flights of stairs (main floor/1st floor). It will be a very nice hotel once the renovation is completed.
Good location in Chelsea. There isn't a lift but lots of stairs, the shared bathroom arrangement is strange, the reception shuts at 9.00pm, and the rooms are quite dated with old furniture. Net curtains on the windows would be nice too!
Rooms were recently remodeled, or at least mine was. Nicely done with some exposed brick, wood floor, tasteful art and fixtures, great bed, big screen TV. Shared bathroom was also freshly and tastefully done, and clean.... But SHARED. I think they may have some rooms w private baths for more $. They were working on the hallways during my stay, but I don't see how they can fully update vintage structure with its narrow halls and losing stairway. Street noise.
I asked for a refund and left 4 hours after I got there. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy
