The room was very small with about 3 1/2 ft on one side of the bed and 2 1/2 on the other. We had a very hard time keeping the room temp adjusted since the air seemed to blow on the head of the bed. My wife eventually slept with her head toward the foot of the bed. The bathroom is so small I am not sure how someone large could sit on the toilet. My knees were 2 1/2" from the wall and I am 5'9".
Location. Close Columbus circle. Lobby. Room was extremely small. Bath and Toilet was extremely small too. Bedding was tared which made me don't want to sleep in the bedding. I slept on the bedding. Don't recommend you to stay. I can not believe that I payed almost $250 for this kind of room.
facilities such as a bar, library. Also very good atmosphere poor air conditioning that kept breaking and the issue wasn't being addressed promptly
staff were very helpful and very welcoming, hotel is in avery good location 5 mins walk from central park. Reception is amazing hotel very busy but atmosphere very tranquil. Need to be more aware of residents and use of facilities, after being out all day we arrived back to the hotel for a drink was informed that the area was reserved, went to the other bar where it was close for a private function, was told to use the bar in the "club" area when after a while we were told we would have to move as our table was reserved, so there was no where for residents, although staff were understanding we still had no where to go.
Very good location, comfortable beds, nice and clean. A very good choice.
Good location, staff was helpful. The bathroom is so small you had to crawl around the commode to get to the shower. The faucet in the sink was dripping, The room had in adequate lighting, and the clock was set for an incorrect time.
bar , restaurant, loby.
The staff were absolutely excellent..couldnt be more helpful and the hotel is fabulous The rooms are obviously very small and I understand nothing can be done about that but maybe a smaller rate could have been charged
A comfortable place to sleep and a great location. It's akin to staying with a friend albeit one who charges you ~$300 per night. Rooms are very small with noisy air conditioning
Central, fun, clean and very good staff. Smallest rooms I have ever seen. It works though so I suppose it is not a serious criticism.
Atmosphere Prices of food
I loved staying at the Hudson, it was my home away from home. The location is excellent, the design is fun and funky, the decor is well thought out, staff are friendly and helpful, the room clean, the bed very comfortable and the shower water was hot. The Sky Terrace and Garden Room, one of the reasons I chose to stay here, were both closed. This was disappointing. The closure info should be made available on the website.
Perfectly located if you are on a short tourist visit to NYC. A little renovation can help up lift quality of stay.
The room (mostly the bathroom) smelled so strongly of bleach that I got a terrible headache. It was bad enough that It didn't matter what deal I could get- I could not tolerate it another day. Other than that, everything was great. If smells don't bother you, it's a great place! I am VERY sensitive to smells.
Older hotel, with older finishings. But large rooms for a city hotel. Everything clean and comfortable. Nice lounge to grab a snack or drink. Rooftop pool was a neat experience for our 14yr old and great value for Midtown. Discounted parking wasn't bad at 30.0p/day and the hotel kept our bags after check out. No complaints
The proximity to Central Park was nice. The room had old appliances ( toilet, air conditioning unit) and reeked of cigarette smoke.
Location!! Room was clean and staff nice. We had and adult and child friend in the city we were visiting. We didn't use the pool until one day we wanted to have them join us. We were told that they would be $75 a person to swim. I thought that was outrageous since we hadn't used the pool yet and I'm quite sure not everyone staying in the hotel takes advantage of the pool. We decided to go to their building which had a much better facility 44 floors up on the park to swim. We weren't charged a thing to use for the day. I understand a charge of some sort but $75 for 1 adult and $75 for 1 child is ridiculous. I also can't speak to the food in the hotel because we always ate other places, but we found that everything else with our stay was more than adequate.
The late checkout and location Room could be more updated and the walls were thin
Location was great. Old building that needs updated infrastructure
Our room was large and very comfortable. The hotel was conveniently located. The lobby was crowded, worn and dated. There were huge boxes lining our hallway that made it difficult to get to our room with luggage.
Location, bar The hotel needs a major renovation. Decor is dated, building appears worn out. Insulation was combining out of door. Hallways were dark and carpet dingy. Bed squeaked. Smell of smoke the first night
Rooftop pool and central location excellent; staff extremely helpful. Manager Joe Cecala great. The lobby bar is not romantic.
I didn't sleep well- the bed was as hard as a rock. Good location
Small rooms, great location. Good staff. Nice lobby
Location Too old and the room was too small worthless
The value of the rates given the the area is great and it is centrally located in mid-town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was noisy in the morning but quiet most of the other times.
The room and lobby were beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a great location right in the middle of manhattan. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful. The room was agonizingly small for the amount of money we paid for it. When we checked in the lady behind the desk said she was "upgrading" us, and we barely had enough room to walk around the bed. I shudder to think of how small our room was before the "upgrade".
Great value for location in central NYC. No complaints
Nice lounge. Great location. Easy in / out. Flakey WiFi
The rooftop deck had great views and location was good They charge you for everything and it's super overpriced. The pool was a disappointment it's as big as a pickup truck
Our stall shower was missing the sliding door. The bathroom got soaked during every shower
The Empire charges mini bar rates for Keurig coffee in room. The bathroom was very, very small which made it difficult to use comfortably, and we are very small people.
The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC. The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.
Room very very small for paying that price. My window view was of another building like 3 inches apart. Sink wouldn't drain, remote control wouldn't work. Otherwise, the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
The location. Room T which could not be controlled.
Location close to Lincoln center. The little Japanese restaurant was good for breakfast. Bedsheets cover smelled of smoke; apparently this was not a smoke free hotel or room.
A non-frills hotel, but being a Thompson Hotel it offers high quality service, clean rooms and good value accommodation. All the hotel staff was exceptionally polite and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay at 6 Columbus. Rooms don't have a view & lack of business center.
The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The room size was a little cramped for three adults.
Cheap Loud plumbing
The room was clean and the decor was very trendy. The staff were very helpful and kind.
The location near Columbus Circle is great, but the hotel is hard to find since it lists its address as 6 Columbus Circle when in fact it is on 58th, near 8th avenue. The air conditioning worked but we could not make adjustments, just turn it off. Then it would not turn on again.
The staff was great - especially Tommy the bellman. The location is awesome! The morning we checked out there was no hot water to shower.
Comfortable bed, nice tv, extremely clean bathroom. Really liked the heated floor in the bathroom. Bar and lobby were very nice.
location. bed comfort. no bed bugs. the rug was dirty looking. a chair would have been useful.
My wife and I were in town for an awards ceremony and wanted to have a special first class stay near Central Park. The hotel was so nice and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. They even provided us with a limo ride to our event with just a quick call to the front desk. Everything was first rate and the room, view, and decor was very upscale adding to the New York experience. The location was within walking distance to all the best shops, dining, and attractions so that we did not need a cab while we were there. The best part was a view of central park and the room was very quiet with no typical street noise or horns blowing during the night.
Great location, bed was comfortable, TV was nice, clean for age of hotel, sheets and pillows were comfortable. Very Dated! Poor quality construction. bathroom WAY TOO SMALL. Bedroom HOT, Living Room FREEZING! Asked to fix 3 day in a row...finally changed rooms.I could NOT HAVE BEEN FIRST? Old towels, cracked toilet, dated fixtures. $70 half bottle wine?
In addition to the beautiful suite and comfortable bed the hotel staff makes the guest feel welcome and at home. I highly recommend this hotel if you want luxury, a feeling of warmth and friendliness, and safety.
A well thought out room layout (jr suite) and everything clean and working. Very friendly employees. An effortless hotel experience where you can tell they are sweating the details. it's not a great room lobby hotel and the views aren't city vistas. But if you value functional comfort Trump Int'l is the best value at the higher end of NYC hotels.
Noisy: banging through the night. Cleaning staff did not respect do not disturb sign on door knop
The whole place in general is very safe and monitored. So the safety problem doesnt really exist there. The windows open to provide fresh air. Lots of bathrooms. Easy area to get out of and get to whereever you need to be. However, they have a curfew, a human body limit per room and will try to charge you for as much as possible during your stay. I had to rent a DOUBLE bed room because i had a friend stay over (which apparently isnt allowed). No food, only 99c soap to shower with and no ventelation in bathrooms. staff is rude at any chance they get and the other guests staying there weren't any better. They even charge you per bag if you want to leave your bags in the locker room.
Sheets and a blanket was a pleasent surprise! Also cleaning every day was luxury thing. Room was warm and the hallways were in good condition. Bed was comfy too. Staff in helpful and you can enter the guesthouse anytime. The toilet at the 9th floor is hidious. There was some little bugs flying, I thought that okay whatever, but when I saw a cocroach I thought this is too much. You can use the swimming pools showers and toilets, they are renovated and in excellent condition.
Pool was fun. Staff was wonderful. Room was inexpensive. Location was great. Room 905 -- private bathroom was nice for us traveling as a father and son. Very Spartan. Feels like an old apartment building or dorm room -- room floor is linoleum, tile is old, windows are old. The room felt clean, but there is grime in the corners.
It's very closed to the central park. The bath shower is old and hard to be used.one of the shower's ceiling is leaking. And it's not convenience to use the hair dryer. What's more, I lost my pajamas at at the hostel. It just disappearred in my room. And the housekeeping said they may take it as the laundry. This is redicules!
Best location Bed is not comfortable
Good value and great location. Great staff and security as well. Clean sheets and passable furniture. This is definitely an alternative to the el cheapo rooms in the East Village and felt safe at all hours. I would recommend this place again when traveling on a tight budget. The glass shower doors afford no privacy when showering. Don't know how the women's showers are configured, but for the guys, it's three next to each other across from the sinks/mirrors. I was brushing my teeth at the mirror facing the mirror and the guy behind me in the shower was, well I had to close my eyes. Also be advised that this is a really nice hostel, so expect loud kids late into the night. However, never enough to wake me up (I was there for five nights).
Excellent location near Central Park, close to subway stops. One of cheapest places to stay in NYC. Single room had AC, small flat screen TV, desk and chair. Free wifi that works fairly well. Can store luggage before checking and after checking out for $2 per bag. Can use Y facilities, gym, pool, etc. Communal bathroom is usually a mess. Water on floor, sinks stopped up and horrible smell. Sometimes noisy with slamming doors so bring ear plugs just in case
Wow! to the location and gym facilities. With just a few small fixes, this could be a great (NYC inexpensive) place to stay. There was no facecloth provided There were ZERO coat hangers in the closet in my room, despite lots of space for them. One of only three showers in the only male bathroom on the 9th floor was broken (the water control handle was broken off) and could not be used. Your wifi network system blocks all access to destination port 465, ie SMTP, one of the oldest and most basic protocols on the Internet. Yes, many people get their mail through the web (http) nowadays, but many of us don't, and there's no security or other reason to block ssh, ntp, smtp, etc ports. First day, there was no shampoo nor conditioner in my room Second day: there was conditioner but no shampoo in my room. There was no water fountain / source of drinkable water on the floor (bathroom taps sprayed). On two cold days in late April, the room was too hot at night.
Location was excellent and price was affordable. $2 to store a bag was reasonable and security staff assisted with that cheerfully. Perhaps it was an off day, but the 8th floor had a pervasive odor that was unpleasant to say the least. I also was cursed with untidy floor mates who messed up the bathroom and this wasn't cleaned during the 14 hours I was sharing it. The front desk also had an indifferent attitude while checking in - almost as if my presence was disturbing their other plans for the evening. I am pretty tolerant of shared facilities and budget properties in NY, but overall this experience managed to fall even below those standards. I enjoyed my stay at the East Side Y last year, but this stay at the West Side Y left a lot to be desired.
The location was perfect as we were across the street from Central Park, close to Lincoln Center, Columbus Square, and other great cites in the city. The staff was very friendly, and I appreciated the fact that there was a security desk in the lobby. The beds were surprisingly comfortable for being bunk beds and the room was very quiet as our window faced away from the street. The shared bathroom and showers were a bit of a challenge, but, considering the price, wasn't too bad just inconvenient.
I like the comfort of just walking around the city and close to subway stations, shopping area, central park and others. Staffs are very good and accomodating except the guards coz i saw a woman with stroller and baby with bags and they dont even care to open the door. I dislike other guests who does not care about other guests esp in the middle of the night.
Although the hotel was under minor construction...It was quiet. Room was all brand new and super clean. Staff was beyond nice and helpful.Location was close to all. this hotel is a 12 out of 10. not at all..I will stay there again

Great Location And Proximity To Central Park plus the A C E & 1 subways The Staff was very sketchy. Front desk clerk charged me a $15.00 'early check in fee' that 'has to be paid in cash' Next day he tried to short change a man. He's a clumsy hustler. Breakfast room is way too small for number it serves.
Location and staff were great Too busy for such a small space, no closet, breakfast was horrible.
Hotel has been recently renovated, so the rooms and bathrooms are clean, fresh, and new. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. Great location if you need to be on the upper west side. Very close to Central Park. Bathroom was VERY small and uncomfortable. Only one elevator for the entire hotel, so a long wait or take the stairs.
Near central park Did not provide drinking water during breakfast, the lobby bathroom smelled like urine. Had to get room key programmed twice. Did not get clear cable reception on tv. Wifi too slow, resorted to own cellphone data.
The staff, especially Mo, were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Construction is still going on, and when done is going to be beautiful. It did not impede us in anyway. This location is fantastic for all ones NYC needs. Train close by also. Could use a bar in closet area to hang clothes. Maybe just overlooked during construction.
Loved the location. Front desk clerk was great, as our first room was disgusting, old, stained, worn out. He moved us to a much nicer room, more to what we expected. Unfortunately, there was an incident at the hotel while we were there. The police were brought in. My son got a bit of an education he didn't need about 'bad guys'.
The location and cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional. The assigned room was very small; it was also dark, due to the low level (2nd floor) and the closeness of the adjacent building. Nevertheless, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
location construction, lack of breakfast area, size of bathroom
Location Our room was not clean and was almost claustrophobic. Overall things were not well finished (novice like additional caulking as bathroom repairs) dresser too big for room couldn't open drawers because of bed. We would ( will) NEVER stay there again.
location The horrible staff that "blacklisted" me being a New York state resident. I was also unimpressed by the clogged toilets full of feces and the obvious hard drug use among the staff. They seemed to make a sport out of making guests feel and unwelcome and intimidated; as if I was checking in as an inmate. "Blacklist" or not, I would rather sleep in the snow than come back here.
Location is great for ne I don't remember the last time I overheard that many people complained that the staff really don't care. It felt like the staff were just there to collect their paycheck and it's a job they really don't care about as they have something better to do
