The overhead luggage bins are very small so they required us to check our hand carry luggage. I had to take my rechargable batteries out of my bag and put them in my rucksack. It would be a good idea to pack you hand carry luggage assuming you might need to check it in at the gate.

Research the airline baggage allowance and hidden fees. Allow a few extra minutes when checking baggage as attendants don’t check the bags for you. Customers check their own bags at a kiosk.

If you have a second bag... This needs to fit under the seat in front, there isn't space for two overhead

FAQs - booking United Kingdom flights

  • Where are the main airports in the United Kingdom?

The most well-known international airports in the UK are in London – Heathrow, Gatwick, London City Airport and Stansted Airport, as well as the perhaps lesser-known Luton Airport. The other major UK cities and those in other UK countries also have their own airports, so you can land in virtually any region. Glasgow and Edinburgh have two main Scottish airports, with Belfast the home of the main Northern Ireland one. Back in England you can land in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds or Newcastle, among others.

  • What major events are worth flying to the United Kingdom for?

The UK offers several annual festivals and events that are world-famous tourist attractions. Music lovers flock to the Glastonbury and Reading Festivals each year, and tennis fans have Wimbledon to look forward to. Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is worth visiting in the Northern Hemisphere winter, and London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks are something to behold.

  • How much time should I budget to travel into London from its three main airports?

It’s pretty convenient getting to the centre of London from any of its airports. Heathrow is the closest, and the easiest way to travel to central London is to take the Heathrow Express, which will get you there in about 15min. If you’ve landed at Stansted Airport, the Stansted Express gets you to London in about 50min.

  • What are the closest airports to the UK’s coastal resorts?

Southampton Airport is well-placed for you to reach all the seaside resorts on the south coast of England, most notably the hugely popular Brighton and Hove area. The other desirable coastal region in the country is Blackpool, with Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport the closest. To reach the Cornwall coast you could land at Exeter or Bristol airports, but public transport from Heathrow will get you there quicker, making it the best option.

  • How can I reach Manchester city centre if I land at Manchester Airport (MAN)?

You can take the Metrolink tram from the airport train station, which is connected to the Arrivals terminals by moving walkway systems. You will also find taxis located outside the terminals.

You can also fly to major Scottish Airports, such as Edinburgh (EDI) or Glasgow (GLA). From both these cities, you can drive to Skye in around 5h. Flying to larger airports, like GLA and EDI, may save you money and allow you to fly direct from other UK airports.

  • Do I need a visa for flights to the United Kingdom?

UK passengers on flights to the United Kingdom do not need to have a visa to travel within the UK. Although you do not need a passport for visiting other parts of the UK, including Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, most travellers take their passport to use as ID when checking in at the airport.

  • Which is the best airport for visiting the Lake District?

The Lake District is located in the north of England and is close to several major airports, including Manchester, Newcastle International Airport (NCL), and Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL). Everything! Not sure if there's really anything that could make it any better

Very quick trip from Southampton to Edinburgh Arrival a long way from baggage and up 3flights of stairs no lifts or escalators

Really helpful staff at the airport and the flight was comfortable with good entertainment options and food service

The flight was delayed by about an hour, but the staff and signs at the airport never actually said it was delayed. At the expected boarding time, we were told we would be boarding in about 10 minutes, then 20 minutes passed, and were told again that we would board in about 10 minutes. That happened multiple times, such that "10 minutes" turned into an hour.

The seat spacing was good. The food, not so good... typical airline food. 😕

I would face like to have more selections for entertainments overall it was very good. .

It was fine. We were delayed leaving but a situation of too many planes, not the airlines fault.

I would definitely use a Linus again, the price was right, the service is excellent. No delays. Wish I had a direct flight from my hometown Detroit.

At check-in the unmanned machines said QR code was invalid so had to queue for over an hour to check in bags

Nicest staff I’ve experienced on a plane! Good food, great entertainment, and they gave out little blankets that my kids loved. All in all, great experience.

I dont fly them much anymore. Other carries offere better pricing and better seating options

The Glasgow to Dublin route was very efficiently boarded, flight and landing and disembarkation were all super smooth. Dublin to JFK flight I was very pleasantly surprised overall. This was my first time on Aer Lingus and having already come off the short regional flight I was curious to know how the international flight would go. Aircraft was solid, entertainment options were better than expected, flight crew were experienced and operated like clockwork. Main entree left a little something to be desired but the snack was very tasty. Boarding and disembarkation again very smooth and pilots got us in earlier than expected. Would definitely fly again

We accidentally purchased twice the bags we needed. Our fault, but the ticket was not clear to us, and it asked us to purchase bags at checkin. When we notified them to get credit back at the airport, they said to contact customer service. We flew the flight and then contracted customer service. They said no credits after the flight has flown. Not customer service oriented at all. They know we didn’t check that many bags and kept our money for a service they did not provide. Be aware and very careful of what you are purchasing from them because they will not make it right if there is an error.

sadly in Basel & Naples- no jetway we had to climb up and down stairs with our max size carry-on luggage, which was not fun!!!

This was our first time using them. I gave okay ratings for food and entertainment because it was minimal or not provided so I couldn't judge, but much better than most budget carriers we have ever used.

We were charged a ridiculous amount for a name spelling error on ticket which I would’ve corrected if I received pre-check info more than 1/2hr before flight. Then we were told at ticket counter that our bags were fine for boarding but then we’re charged another ridiculous amount to take in our luggage despite being told differently. Flight itself was great. Charges were unfair.

Apart from an email about re configuring passenger seating less than 24hrs before flying it was all good.

There were a lot (4 I think) of EasyJet flights leaving Agadir, we arrived two and a half ours before our flight. Very slow to get through the booking in, passport control and security!! We had booked in on line but had to Queue with others who had not to drop our bags off!,

We boarded and then sat on the tarmac for an hour….probably not E Jets fault. But the gentleman that checked us in and took our luggage was exceptionally friendly and calming for early morning/ confused passengers. As always, it’s the people that make or break an experience, right?

I was hesitant to book with a low cost airline due to previous experience but Easy Jet surpassed my expectations. I would definitely book a flight with them again! Seemless booking, upfront about baggage fees, professional, and helpful staff.

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Usual issues with flight delay. Perennial problem of travel by plane.

Flight was good but seat in 12D was not comfortable, better on the Airbus 321 from Tampa to Charlotte. No breakfast was served before landing in zLonfon only a coffee and orange juice.

I was transferred to an American Airlines flight. The boarding was late and unorganized. The seating was extremely tight and uncomfortable. Will not use AA again.

Easy boarding, very friendly crew, short flight so no entertainment… needed cc for all food and drink purchases…. clean and on time … that is all that mattered… so overall very good.

The entertainment selection was ok, but overall not bad! The crew was great.

Good crew and boarding process. Horrible food and one of the most uncomfortable aircraft seats I have ever sat in. The cabin temperature was warm which made it hard for my family to sleep.

Checking in process could use streamlining when it comes to all info required.not bad tho

The check-in of my luggage was terrible. When purchased my tickets, one luggage and one carry-on was part of the fight. My flight was switched from British to American Airline. During check-in of luggage at the airport, I was denied and had to pay extra $75. How do I get reimbursed for this extra luggage payment?

They are disorganized….show your flight info half an hour before take off, so you are running all over the place. Customer personnel are not helpful, and act like you are bothering them when you asked for assistance - very rude!!! My very first and last time flying with British airways… good thing we have other options.

I didn’t have food and they don’t include entertainment. Not much leg room at all. Staff were great.

When Stephen arrived with our wheel chairs - we were in excellent hands! He was such great help with getting our rental car and then reporting our missing luggage. When you are exhausted from traveling for too many hours, he was just what we needed to navigate everything! Give that guy a raise!

Gate is far at Leeds Bradford Airport. However, as the flight was less than half full, it was calm and not stressful. Great take off and landing. Friendly staff

Boarding was started early and we were lined up in. A glass tunnel on the tarmac we were left standing there for an hour with no information the flight left and arrived 30 mins late

It was great. We arrived a few minutes late but the crew were concert and kind about it. It was a nice smooth fly thanks be to Jesus. I prayed for smooth flight and Yahuwah answered my prayer.

Need more check in desks at Marrakech. Even if you are travelling with hand luggage only, you still need to 'check in' to get the old style boarding pass. Unfortunately they haven't thought to separate out the people checking in luggage to a separate desk. Flight was delayed leaving but arrived on time. Limited food options on board and very overpriced.

We bought tickets for £30 from kayak but we paid £55 for check in to rayan , they slaught us

Flight was delayed so long we missed our second flight. Entire trip had to be cancelled. Ryanair refused to help us.

Stanton airport is outdated, pure equiped, airport. Fire alarms, power outages is a common routine, wich result ir flights delay , additional money spending and huge gathering of people in airport wich is unsafe.

After you made us check-in I tried to add a suitcase in the internet and also to get help by chet. Nothing work and we pay 60 pounds at Airport. Comper to Easyjet to do the same, was easy and customer friendly.

Boarding was like being hoarded like cattle, all penned in in an area way to small

I missed the flight from Manchester to Dublin because of poor informations from Aer Lingus and the airport, no possibility to check in online, they don't respond to phone calls, I had to buy another tickets to enable me travel to Dublin from Manchester. I want my money to refund.
