Unvaccinated visitors from the United Kingdom need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result and quarantine to enter Austria.
Fully vaccinated visitors from the United Kingdom can enter Austria without restrictions.

Austria entry details and exceptions

Travelers who have not been in Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, or Suriname in the past 10 days before arrival are allowed to enter Austria. Travelers are required to present a health pass to enter restaurants, hotels, etc. Travelers will need to show either a negative COVID-19 test result, proof of recovery from COVID-19, or proof of vaccination. Sinovac/Sinopharm vaccine certificates are not valid for entering hotels, restaurants, etc. within Austria. This requirement does not apply to travelers under the age of 12 and in Vienna, travelers under the age of 6.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from the United Kingdom must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) or 48 Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to Austria.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated travelers must have a negative COVID-19 test result in German or English. Travelers have the option to present proof via EU Digital Certificate.

This requirement does not apply to travelers under the age of 12, travelers with proof of being fully vaccinated, travelers with proof of past infection from the last 180 days.

Travelers unable to show any of these documents must take a PCR or antigen test a maximum of 24 hours of arriving in Austria.

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors from the United Kingdom will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering Austria.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

The isolation period can be shortened

Travelers can take a COVID-19 PCR test after 5 days and end quarantine earlier with a negative result.

Details and exceptions

Travelers with proof of being fully vaccinated and travelers with proof of past infection are exempted from this requirement.

Pre Travel Clearence Form

Travelers from Lesotho, Brazil, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Uruguay, or Zimbabwe must register on the digital pre-travel clearance form (PTC) a maximum of 72 hours before arrival in Austria. Travelers must show their PTC form in digital or hard copy on arrival.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated travellers returning from Austria must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to the United Kingdom.

Fully vaccinated travellers with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Qualified fully vaccinated travelers are not required to present a pre-departure test when traveling to England. However, they are still required to book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test which will be taken on or before day 2 after arrival in the country. An individual traveling to the country is considered fully vaccinated if he/she meets the qualification indicated here.

Travelers who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or those who are not qualified under the fully vaccinated rules are required to present a pre-departure test (to be taken any time in the 3 days before the departure date), day 2 and day 8 PCR tests. They may check the pricelist and order the test thru these authorized testing providers.

Travelers could be fined £500 if they are unable to present a pre-departure test.

Travelers from the Common Travel Area (the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Ascension, Falkland Islands and St Helena) are exempt from the test requirement.

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors returning from Austria will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering the United Kingdom.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Travelers who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or those who are not qualified under the fully vaccinated rules arriving from non-red list countries are required to quarantine at home or in the place they are staying for 10 days.

Permitted travelers from the red list countries are mandated to quarantine in a managed hotel. They must be administered with day 2 and day 8 test. They will be required to continue their quarantine period regardless of the result of their day 2 test. For travelers who have positive result, quarantine will start from the date after the result of their day 2 test and they no longer need to use the day 8 test.

For travelers who will have a positive result after using the day 8 test, they will need to quarantine further. They will have to finish the quarantine starting from the date after the result of their day 8 test.

Travelers who have both negative result for day 2 and day 8 test will be out of the 10-day quarantine from the day they arrived in the country.

Travelers going to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are advised to check further details regarding their quarantine.
