Montenegro entry details and exceptions

Montenegrin citizens and foreigners are allowed to enter the country if they can present any of the following:

    -they have been fully vaccinated by an authorized health institution with the prescribed number of doses of vaccine at least 14 days before entering Montenegro;
    -They possess a negative PCR test for SARSCov-2 not older than 72 hours;
    -They have evidence that they have survived COVID-19 (that it has been no less than 14 days and no more than 180 days since a positive PCR or rapid antigen test) or;
    -They possess a negative rapid antigen test for SARSCov-2 not older than 48 hours.

Individuals who have compelling reasons and vital jobs such as diplomats, health workers and researchers; drivers who transport passengers and goods; foreign seafarers; military personnel and humanitarians are exempt from Montenegro entry restrictions.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from the United Kingdom must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) and 48 for Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to Montenegro.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Children/teens who are 18 years old and below are exempt from test requirement.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from the United Kingdom are not required to quarantine after entering Montenegro.

Montenegrin citizens and foreigners who have permanent or temporary residence in Montenegro are sent to a fourteen-day (14-day) self-isolation in case they are unable to present either a proof of full vaccination, a proof of recovery or a negative COVID-19 test.

Isolation can be terminated if they can present a negative PCR test after their sixth day of entry into Montenegro.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated travellers returning from Montenegro must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to the United Kingdom.

Fully vaccinated travellers with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Qualified fully vaccinated travelers are not required to present a pre-departure test when traveling to England. However, they are still required to book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test which will be taken on or before day 2 after arrival in the country. An individual traveling to the country is considered fully vaccinated if he/she meets the qualification indicated here.

Travelers who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or those who are not qualified under the fully vaccinated rules are required to present a pre-departure test (to be taken any time in the 3 days before the departure date), day 2 and day 8 PCR tests. They may check the pricelist and order the test thru these authorized testing providers.

Travelers could be fined £500 if they are unable to present a pre-departure test.

Travelers from the Common Travel Area (the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Ascension, Falkland Islands and St Helena) are exempt from the test requirement.

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors returning from Montenegro will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering the United Kingdom.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Travelers who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or those who are not qualified under the fully vaccinated rules arriving from non-red list countries are required to quarantine at home or in the place they are staying for 10 days.

Permitted travelers from the red list countries are mandated to quarantine in a managed hotel. They must be administered with day 2 and day 8 test. They will be required to continue their quarantine period regardless of the result of their day 2 test. For travelers who have positive result, quarantine will start from the date after the result of their day 2 test and they no longer need to use the day 8 test.

For travelers who will have a positive result after using the day 8 test, they will need to quarantine further. They will have to finish the quarantine starting from the date after the result of their day 8 test.

Travelers who have both negative result for day 2 and day 8 test will be out of the 10-day quarantine from the day they arrived in the country.

Travelers going to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are advised to check further details regarding their quarantine requirement.
