COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from the United Kingdom must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to the United Arab Emirates.

Details and exceptions

UAE nationals are exempt from doing the COVID‑19 PCR test prior to departing from the country of origin to Dubai. They will be tested on arrival in Dubai.

Children under the age of 12 and passengers with a severe or moderate disability are exempt from the PCR test.

Some residents might be tested again on arrival. If your test result is positive, you must stay in isolation for 12 days. If you violate home quarantine rules, you would be liable to a fine of AED 50,000.

Unvaccinated citizens and residents arriving from ‘green’ countries must take a PCR test on arrival, on day 6 and on day 12 from arrival. They are not required to quarantine themselves..

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors from the United Kingdom will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering the United Arab Emirates.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from the United Arab Emirates must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departure to the United Kingdom.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are required to present a negative COVID-19 test (a PCR test, a LAMP test or an antigen test, such as an LFD (lateral flow device) test) taken any time in the 3 days before the departure date. If a traveler is changing flight, the test should be taken in the 3 days of the final departure point to UK.

The test result must be in either English, French or Spanish. Translations will not be accepted.

Travelers could be fined £500 if they are unable to present a pre-departure test.

Travelers from the Common Travel Area (the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Ascension, Falkland Islands and St Helena) and children who are 0-10 years old going to England (0-11 years old for children going to Wales, Scotland and NI) are exempt from the pre-departure testing requirement.

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors returning from the United Arab Emirates will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering the United Kingdom.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

All travelers including vaccinated individuals who are mandated to quarantine in a managed hotel must be administered with day 2 and day 8 test. They will be required to continue their quarantine period regardless of the result of their day 2 test. For travelers who have positive result, quarantine will start from the date after the result of their day 2 test and they no longer need to use the day 8 test.

For travelers who will have a positive result after using the day 8 test, they will need to quarantine further. They will have to finish the quarantine starting from the date after the result of their day 8 test.

Travelers who have both negative result for day 2 and day 8 test will be out of the 10-day quarantine from the day they arrived in the country.

Travelers going to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are advised to check further details regarding their quarantine.
